Ad Is The Only Way UP, chapter 2
Mum and I had a really good time shopping and I got some really cool orange Converse. When we went to the ice-cream and coffee place my mum got me a massive mug of black coffee. When she came and sat down we started talking about everything that had happened recently. "That boy over there can't stop staring at you," she said suddenly
"What!?!?!" I said almost spitting my coffee over her.
"He has been staring at you since we got here. I think he fancies you."
"He can't do. He probably just thinks im a weirdo 'cause of what I'm wearing. And lets face it, you aren't every one's idea of normal either."
"No look at him, he looks like a genuine punk to me. Not just one of those poser punks like Danni's mates."
I looked at him and she was right. But for some strange reason he looked familiar too. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Shit, he noticed me looking. I looked down into my coffee quickly turning bright red like the stool I was sitting on. He started to walk over to us and he pulled up a stool beside me. I noticed he looked about my age and wondered if he would be going to the same school as me. "Hey," he said "I've never seen you in here before and most of the customers are fairly regular."
"Hi im Adara and this is my mum Emma," I introduced him.
"Oh, are you on holiday?" he said, noticing my accent.
"No, we moved here from Stevenage, England."
Sensing that I didn't want to talk about it, he asked if I wanted to go to his friend's house with him. I looked at my mum and she nodded. I started walking with him, then I realised I didn't even know what his name was. "Hey what's your name?" I asked. "I told you mine, but i dont remember ever having heard your's."
"Oh I'm Joey."
"What, like Joseph?"
"No, like Joey Armstrong," he replied, laughing. That name made it click why he looked so bloody familiar.
