Joey, chapter 23
The rest of the cruise was awful. I saw Stef a lot with this guy and it hurt. Everytime I see them together, a sharp stabbing pain comes to my heart and I feel sick in my stomach. I had learned that his name was Kris. He also, lived in California because, thankfully, she was still friends with Jakob and he relayed everything to me. He said he didn't feel good about but he would do it any way.
We were just landing back in California, Stef obviously, had to sit next to me on the plane but, she made an effort to talk to me and be friendly. I was worried about what would happen when we got home, where would she go? Would she even stay with us? I don't want her to go home in case Kev does something bad to her. I had been so worried that night.
When we arrived home, I went straight to our room, Stef following closely behind.
"I need to go talk to your mom, I'll be back in a few minutes." she said softly, placing her case on the bed and walking out to find my mom.
I had no idea what was going to happen but, I was scared. About 10 minutes later, my mom walked in.
"Listen Joey, Stef said to make things easier she'll move back out, I managed to convince her to stay in the spare room for a while. There's nothing I can do to get you back together honey, I'm sorry." she smiled softly.
"Thanks anyway mom." I said, throwing some stuff in my closet
"I'll be across the hall if you need anything" she said, stepping out the way as Stef walked in and picked up her suitcase and left.
I had to try and think of something to get her back. I went downstairs and got my guitar from the basement, dad's recording studio. I opened her up and bright pink letters were stuck on the front, forming the name 'Hilda'. I guess dad couldn't get to grips with calling her 'Stef'.
I searched on the internet for guitar tabs. I was trying to think of the perfect song but didn't know which one would be good enough. I thought back over our time together, the memories. It took me a while but, I found the perfect song.
Aerosmith, I don't wanna miss a thing
I quickly looked them up and printed them out. It would probably take me about a week to learn and memorize the song. I also, needed to brush up on my singing dad, could possibly help me there.
"Hey dad?" I asked as I heard the studio door open.
"Yeah?" he asked, coming into view, down the stairs.
"Um, would you be able to help me to sing this song you know, warm up my vocal chords?" I asked.
"I guess, why?" he asked, puzzled.
"So I can sing it to Stef" I replied
"Oh, yeah, sure, when do you want to start?" he asked
"Tomorrow?" I asked
"Yeah, that's fine, what song are you singing to her?"
"Um Aerosmith, I don't wanna miss a thing. I would have written one myself but I can't write songs." I replied.
"Okay well, I'll see you down here, 9:30am" he said and then he shooed me out of his office and got down to some work.
I went upstairs to my room to start practicing on the guitar. I slowly went through it one by one, with my headphones plugged into the amplifier so no one could hear me.

The next day, I got dressed and made my way down to the studio. I knew my dad wouldn't be up at 9:30am so I decided to get up at 10. Unfortunately, I had under-estimated my father, he was sitting waiting for me.
"Late" he said sleepily.
"Sorry" I mumbled.
"I don't get up at 9:30am for the fun of it you know!" he said seriosuly
"Alright, alright, I said I was sorry." I replied quickly.
"Well first of all we need to warm up your vocal chords"
And our lesson was under way.

I had tried as hard as I could to make this perfect for Stef. Tonight was supposed to be her last night but, not if I could help it. It seemed kinda bitchy as well, for her to move out after all my parents did for her but, they didn't seem to mind too much, they were just hoping we got back together I mean, we have been through so much together.
My mom and dad had thrown a party with Mike, Tre and the kids. It was probably the best time to sing the song.
I took my place with my guitar...
