When Green Day Was Young, chapter 1
Mike and, Billie joe were upset. Their long time drummer John Kiftmeyer or Al Sorbrante had just moved away, and there was talk that the young punk band would not be playing again that made many people upset.
*The week after Kiftmeyer moved*
Mike and Billie joe were walking to an old music store that they knew very well. It was the store Billie's first guitar was bought at. Billie Joe and Mike knew everyone who worked there also. Billie Joe and Mike walked into the store. They saw a friend who was working and they said hi and walked to the back where the basses, guitars, and drums were. They saw a dude looking at the drums. Then the dude came up to them.
"Hey umm you guys know any band who need a drummer?" the dude asked.
"Yeah, we need a drummer, ours' just moved away," Billie said.
"Cool, my name's Tre' Cool. Well it's really Frank but I like Tre' better," the dude said.
"Well I'm Mike and this is Billie Joe or Billie," Mike said.
"It's nice to meet you!" Tre said.
"Well Tre', welcome to the band called Green Day!" Billie said.
A few weeks passed and Green day was getting better than ever. The guys played every day after school, and Billie Joe wrote songs all day long, even in school. Then one Tuesday their homeroom teacher said they had a new student. Then,a girl with long brown hair and bright baby blue eyes walked in.
Everyone this is Terri," the teacher said.
"Hey Terri!" everyone said.
"Ok Terri you can sit next to Tre'. Tre' could you raise your hand please?" the teacher said and Tre raised his hand and then Terri walked to the back of the room where Tre' was.
"Hey im Tre'!" Tre said.
"Hi," Terri said.
*After class*
Terri went to her locker, when Tre and two other boys came up to her.
"Hey umm Terri this is Mike and Billie Joe." He pointed to each one.
"Hey I'm Terri," Terri said.
"So umm we were wonderin' if you would like to come watch our band today?" Tre asked.
"Ummm yeah sure that would be great." Terri said. Terri let out a smile, then she gave them her address and said she would see then later.
*6:30 that night*
Terri was on her living room floor eating a cookie when her door bell rang.
"I'm coming!" Terri said. When she opened her door, there was Tre'.
"Hey umm where is Billie Joe and Mike?" Terri asked.
"They said they would meet us there. I dont know why though," Tre said.
"....Ok let me get on shoes on and get my coat. You can come in." Terri let Tre' in and he sat on the couch.
Then Terri came back into the living room with a black jacket, a black pair of Converse, and a set of drum sticks. She sat them on the coffee table and then put her shoes on and then her jacket and she picked up her drum sticks.
"Hey what's with the drum sticks?" Tre asked.
"Oh I play drums and I was puttin' them up cuz I don't play with these," Terri said.
"Why not?" Tre asked.
"Cuz before my dad died when I was 11. Me and him went to a Ramones concert and he had my sticks signed and then he took me home and then he was headin' to his house and he was hit by a drunk driver," Terri said.
"I'm sorry," Tre said.
"It's ok. Let's go."
*The week after Kiftmeyer moved*
