Punk Doll, chapter 3

The alarm clock blared into the darkness, rousing the blue-eyed Asian from a restless nigt sleep. Min climbed out of bed, stretched, and then walked into her kitchen. Tink and Marilyn were probably still asleep. She filled the kettle with water, and put it on the stove, to make her Korean Brown-Rice Green Tea, Tong-Su, her favorite coffee alternative. She sat on the table, eyeing her cell phone, which had been turned off. She was avoiding checking her voice mail because of her mother, who would call asking

"Yoo till in Ponk Band? You quit yes? No? Min, you break yo father's heart! He want you be doctor! No 'Ponk Doll'." her mother's thick Korean accent would say. Min hesitantly turned on her phone. Two messages.

"Sunday, 2:13 AM" the voice mail began. Min sighed as she heard her mother, who had no idea that in America, the times are severely different. Her Mom and Dad raised her in America, only to move back to South Korea. Min stayed in America.

"Min. Dis ees mamma. I call yoo, see how yoo awre." her thickly accented voice said. Now Min new what was coming.

"You still in Ponk band? I love yo Min. I call sometime else. bye."

Thank God she didn't say anything along the lines of "Yoo break father's heart...blah blah blah."

"Sunday, 8:24 AM"

"Hi Min, this is Billie Joe, Yeah I know it's early, but I have Adeline business. Can you guys be down here at 2:00 this afternoon? We want to see if we can possibly start on getting a record out for you. Well, call me back please, the number is 555-630-9910. Thank you, call me soon Razzle! Bye."

This news excited Min. She quickly turned off the phone, roused Marilyn and Tink from their deep sleep, and hopped in the shower.

"Minners! Hurry up in there and DONT TAKE UP ALL OF THE HOT WATER!" Tink yelled.

Min sighed. 'good 'ol Tinker'.
