Forever Running, chapter 3
Billie waited for me to finish my tea before leading me away into his jet black car. He opened the door for me and waited until I had got in before closing the door for me. He started to engine and drove away. We passed street after street until we entered a quiet, nice looking neighborhood. He pulled up onto the side and switched off the car and escorted me into his home. I walked through the white door and looked around, he had a lovely home and it was tidy. Wow. Finally I broke the silence
"So you live on your own?"
"Well, yeah, sometimes my friends will stay the night to stop me getting lonely" He joked.
"So how long do you mind me staying?" I asked
"As long as you wanna" He replied. That was good because I didn't plan on going home for a very long time.
"Are you sure?" I questioned.
"Positive" Billie smiled. He made me smile.
"There's a guest room upstairs on the left if you want to go unpack" He added
"And there's more sheets and pillows in the cupboard on the right"
"Thank you Billie, for everything" I said. That made him smile from ear to ear. He had a lovely smile, his smile made his green eyes look ten times as beautiful. I ran upstairs and unpacked, I heard him shout:
"Do you want lunch?"
"Yes, please" I yelled. Within minutes he came up the stairs.
"Lunch is ready" He stood in the doorway. He had lovely black hair and was rather tall, about half a foot taller than me.
"Bacon sarnie okay?" He queried.
"Fine" I grinned at him.
I followed him downstairs and into the kitchen area. There was a nice wooden table in there and lunch was laid out nicely. He pulled out a seat for me and he sat down opposite me. We started talking:
"So how old are you?" I asked him.
"Eighteen next week" Came the reply. Oh. I liked him but if he knew I was Fifteen then he might not like having me here.
"Just turned seventeen" OK I lied, but, well I had to. Billie Joe smiled. That smile looked as though butter wouldn't melt in his mouth.
"How olds your brother?" Oh no, what to say? if I say he's seventeen Billie will know I'm lying.
"Umm..."
"Okay, I understand if you find it hard to talk about him, it's okay" Phew. I am out of that one. I felt bad for lying though.
My phone began to ring; The letters M-U-M flashed onto the screen. I looked at Billie Joe across the table.
"Who is it Sarah?" He said when he saw the worried look on my face.
"It's my mum"
"Answer it, just don't tell her where you are, let her know you're safe. She hasn't hurt you has she?" Billie was right none of this was mum's fault she actually defended me and put herself at risk earlier. I flicked up the top.
"Hello?"
"Yeah I'm fine"
"I can't tell you, I'm sorry" I said guiltily to a question that I knew would come 'Where was I.'
"No mum, I can't" She asked me again.
"Look mum, I'm not coming back." Mum fell into silence. The thought that her only daughter had ran away terrified her. I heard mum begin to sob. I sobbed too. I really missed her, it had only been a couple of hours but mum was everything to me.
"Mum?"
"What did Jamie do after I left?"
"He hit you?!" I was shocked, but not at all surprised.
"But why did you take his gun?"
"You mean to say..." I was interrupted by her. We spoke some more. Until I said good-bye and hung up.
"Well, what she say?" Billie Joe asked.
"She never took his gun"
"Well, why did she say she did" He asked.
"She did it for me" I said as I cried my eyes out. Billie came over to my side of the table and held me in his arms for what seemed like forever.
