Forever Running, chapter 6
We were back on the road by 4:00 PM. We stopped by a cafe that Truckers eat at, it was grotty, the food was greasy but it was better than nothing. I did notice I was getting funny looks. Maybe they'd seen the news. Maybe it was because you don't often see someone who doesn't have a Harley or a Truck outside. I got a bit worried. We left immediately after eating. We passed a few out-of-town shops and stocked up on food and drink. I really felt alive. We went back to the bridge. Billie was really worn out, he took a nap. I remembered I packed my diary, I rummaged into my bags and pulled it out. I flicked through the pages...

Today was horrible, Jamie pushed my hand over the heater and held it there for around three minutes. It's been five hours and my hand is still marked. Why is Jamie like this? He hated Dad, he was rather happy when he was murdered. I'm sure Jamie knew something about that murder Mum and I didn't. Dad was hardly ever spoke about in this house anymore. Mum hasn't had another guy since. It's been two years since his death. The police never found the killer, not even a suspect. That was how useless they were. I miss Dad so much. He was the only person around here that I felt I could talk to. Mum isn't the same anymore. She just sits around crying all the time, I'm not quite sure if she's crying for Dad or for how much she has grown to hate her own son.
(Back in the car)
I began to cry, it must have woken up Billie. He saw what I was reading and he comforted me with a kiss in the cheek and a cuddle. He made things so much better. He took me away from my crappy life and gave me hope. I held on to him until I'd stopped crying.
"I love you" He whispered. I felt the same way about Billie Joe. He was an amazing guy.
"I love too" I replied.
"I'll always love you. I'll stay with you 'till the end and beyond"
"You're my world" He added. We spent ages kissing, but it didn't go any further. I wasn't ready. Billie knew that, and he seemed perfectly happy with that.
"I want to be with you Sarah, not just 'till this is over, but forever" Oh my God that was the greatest thing a guy had ever said to me.
"I want you too, Billie"
