The Words That I Can't Say, chapter 18

Leigh sighed. It was geography class the next day after the texting conversation. Leigh liked that conversation in some ways. It gave her hope, yet at the same time made her regretful forever letting Pete go. Even though Pete kind of let go of her more. But still, it made Leigh happy, so it couldn't have been that bad for her.

And there was Patrick. If she ever wanted to get back with Pete, (which she totally and completely did), what she do with him? Just be all "oh uh I know you've been really nice to me the whole time I've known you. And you are basically the reason that I have not gone out of my mind with pain about the Pete on Casey thing, BUT I got to let ya go. Time for me to date your best friend."

She could not do that.

Casey ran next to Leigh on the trail. "And he wants to go to the movies tomorrow to see Mission Impossible III! Gosh I LOVE MICHEAL NICHOLAS BENIVIDES!" Casey screamed as loud as she could.

"I don't care who you love but keep running little missy," Coach Sund shouted back.

Casey could only laugh and speak in her defence.

THE LOCKER ROOM
Leigh and Casey got back to the locker room. Leigh had a new message on her phone. It was a text message from Patrick.

hey! I have a day off on Friday then a concert in Minnesota. I was wondering if on my day off I could drive and pick you up, then drive you home the day after the concert. Text back ASAP. -PMS

Leigh was ecstatic. She told Casey. She couldn't stop laughing. For some real odd reason, this made her past happy. Her usual dates with Patrick didn't make her so AAHH. I guess its cause she got to travel somewhere new. She was tried of boring old Chicago. She wanted something exciting. She seemed to seek out adventure yet hated change.

AT LEIGH'S HOUSE AFTER SCHOOL

"NO!" Leigh's mom said into the phone.

"But mom I'll be watched by adults the whole fricken time!" Leigh said in her defence.

"Just cause there over 21 doesn't mean there adults, Leigh! They're musicians. It's enough for me to let you date someone that's so much older than you, now you want to go gallivanting to Minnesota with him and his crew of miscreants! No, uh uh, sorry that's where I draw the line...sorry Hun, but I can't let you go. See you at home, and start some boiling water for pasta. I love you bye." Leigh's mom's lectures seemed endless and quite cutting for a couple words.

"Fine bye" Leigh said putting the phone down, really more like throwing it down.

Leigh got her phone out. She was determined to go. She would do anything. Even if she had to dare ask it... sneak out.

Hey Patrick, just wanted to say it's good to go. Pick me up when you want. But text me back when you got an actual time. Love Always, LeLe

Within an hour she got a response.

mmk how about 8 am. Or is that to early?

Leigh thought.

Yeah that sounds great 8 am it is

She hung out on myspace until she got another response.

Great see you Friday

FRIDAY

To pull this of she had to not only lie to her parents. But to skip school.

But it was worth. She told her parents she was going to take the bus. Even though she never took the bus. It was full of perverted guys and girls who could kick her ass.

She showered (blow dry, straighten), got dressed, brushed her teeth, and ate a small breakfast. (she was to excited to eat.)

When 8:30 am came (fashionably late right?) around he was here. Leigh wanted to run, but she knew that would totally look uncool. When she did reached the car, she opened the door and hopped in with a smile.

"Hey beautiful" Patrick said.

"Hey" Leigh said kissing him on the cheek. "What's up?"

"Just thanking God you were born." Patrick said sweetly.

Leigh truly smiled at this. Patrick was too adorable to let go. Even though her heart was with Pete.

Patrick pushed a little on the gas pedal and they were off.
