What happens in the past, doesn't always stay in the past, chapter 1
Nellie sat on the couch staring at the tv. It was on MTV, a brainwashingly stupid reality show. That's all it was these days, she thought to herself as she turned it off. She got up and walked into the kitchen and out the backdoor humming 'You Lied', one of her favorite Green Day songs. She sat down on the deck and dangled her feet over the side. It was one of those days that she was wondering, once again, who her dad was. Her mom always talked about him, how he was awesome at the guitar, and had the most beautiful singing voice you ever heard. She knew that's where she got her talent. She always wondered... Why he didn't come find her, or why he left. She looked up into the blue sky, her green eyes sparkling. She stood up and walked back into the house.
It would be at least an hour before her mom got home from work, so she decided to go to the mall. She grabbed her car keys and purse and walked out the door. She got into her midnight black Navigator and left. When she finally got there, she searched frustratedly for a parking spot, and when she finally found one, she checked and it took her 15 minutes. She sighed and got out of her car, locked the door, and walked into the huge mall. She instantly headed for Hot Topic, and just as she got to the door, she bumped into someone. She looked up and saw a pair of green eyes looking at her. She almost died, it was Billie Joe Armstrong, her idol. They studied each others faces, when it hit her, she looked exactly like him. She had really realized it when she looked at pictures, but now that she was looking at him in person, she knew... Maybe he was her dad?
"Sorry," she said quickly.
"Oh that's okay, I should've been paying attention," he replied.
"Well, I've got to get going," she said, turning to walk into Hot Topic. She stopped when he grabbed her arm.
"Hey wait, um I hope you don't mind me asking but, what's your mom's name?" he asked.
"Kayla Bennett," she replied slowly. That's when Billie Joe realized, this girl was his daughter... He couldn't believe it but, they looked the same and Kayla was his old girlfriend, but he never saw her again after he left for his tour. Then he met Adrienne, and forgot all about her.
"I... I... I think I'm your...dad" he stuttered. Nellie just looked at him quizzically.
"But..."
"When I left for tour, I never saw your mom again, and I guess, well I got her pregnant and I didn't even know!" he said. They looked at each other for a minute, until Nellie spoke up.
"Well, can I be your daughter, maybe spend some time with you sometime?" she asked.
"Of course!" he said pulling her into a hug, "Now I think we should go see your mom!" he said, and together they walked out of the mall, got into their cars, and drove to Nellie's house.
It would sure be a suprise for Katie.
