I pushed Billie away from my lips. And shook my head. Tears fell from my eyes and down my cheeks. No matter how much he thought this was right it was just so wrong, for Tre and for me. I bit my bottom lip and spoke.
"Billie please don't do this.." I said and wiped my tears with the back of my hand. Billie sighed and closed his eyes. "Please... I don't want this... "
"Because of Tre right?" He whispered and threw his cigarette on the pavement. I shook my head making more tears fall down my face.
"Not just him... Mariah too..." I said as I sniffed back my tears. Billie cocked up an eyebrow.
"Mariah?" He asked. I nodded. "Wait I don't... I don't understand."
"Mariah... She well, she likes you... She really does," I said and put my head in my hands.
"Wait a minute, she does?" Billie asked considering how fast I explained. I nodded.
"She's gonna kill me when she finds out what we did... Her and Tre..." I said, choking back my tears.
"Fuck... This is all my fault... I'm so sorry I just... Couldn't resist," Billie said. "I really like you but... I don't want to do this to you."
"Can you just promise me one thing?" I asked and lifted my head from my hands. I rubbed my eyes from the tears with the back of my hand.
"Yeah sure anything... After the stupid choice I just did I'll do whatever to make it up to you."
"Don't tell Tre or Mariah about what just happened a few minutes ago... " Billie smiled and nodded.
"Thank you."
"No problem... So Mariah likes me huh? What did she say about me?" Billie asked with a sly smile.
"Steph! Billie!" I heard Tre yell. He ran away from the entrance and ran towards us. I quickly looked away and tried rubbing my eyes from all the tears that had fallen. "Why are you two here?"
"Just uh talking... " I said while rubbing my eyes. Tre cocked up an eyebrow.
"Steph are you... Are you crying?" Tre asked while kneeling beside me. I shook my head with out looking at him.
"No I just got something in my eye," I lied.
"Let me see, I can help take it out," Tre said as he put his hand on my shoulder. I shook my head again.
"No it's gone... " I whispered. Tre tilted his head to the side with confusion. He turned his head to Billie.
"Why did you leave all of a sudden?" He asked and sat on the curb, between Billie and me. Billie shrugged.
"I needed a smoke... " He said and looked up into the sky. Tre frowned.
"And you don't decide to at least tell us?"
"Nope... "
I could tell the tension between those two were building up I had to find a way to brake it. I just wish Billie would stop being so emotionless towards Tre. "Uh where is Mike, Jessica and Mariah?" I asked.
"We split up just to look for you two... Why are your eyes so red and puffy?" Tre asked as he put his hand on my cheek and stared at my eyes. I swallowed down a big lump in my throat. I knew the 'there was something in my eye' lie wouldn't trick him.
"There you guys are," Mariah called and walked over to us. "What's going on?"
"Nothing... " Billie said and looked up at her. To him she seemed different now. It could have been the knowledge that he found out but he never noticed how beautiful she really was. Mariah smiled at him.
"So are we going back to the carnival?" She asked.
"I don't know... Maybe we should be going... Today has been a crappy night," Tre said and sighed afterwards. Mariah nodded and sat beside me.
"Steph you okay? Your eyes are all red and puffy... " She said. I nodded.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine... Um some one should get Mike and Jess-"
"Hey why is everyone out here?" Mike asked as he walked with Jessica towards us.
"We're going," Tre said. Mike and Jessica looked at each other with confusion. They nodded in agreement thinking that it would be the wrong choice to argue. Especially because of the events that happened tonight.
While Mike drove us home I obviously was again on Tre's lap like always. Except I was silent.
"Steph... What's been going on? What happened with you and Billie, while we were looking for you?" Tre whispered in my ear. I sighed and shook my head.
"I'll tell you later... " I whispered back and sighed again. Tre nodded and relaxed him self on the back seat.
Mike pulled up in our driveway and looked at Jessica and smiled.
"Bye babe," he whispered and kissed her on the lips softly.
"Bye honey," she replied and then opened the car door. "Bye Mariah, bye Billie, bye Tre."
I opened my door and lifted my self from Tre's lap. "Bye guys," I said and started walking towards the front door with Jessica. Tre watched me and thought for a minute. "Guys I'll be right back... " Tre said and jumped out of the car. Mike, Billie and Mariah watched curiously as he walked up behind me.
"Steph... " Tre said and grabbed my arm. I looked up at him with watery eyes. "Can we talk? Please?"
I sighed and nodded. "Jess I'll be inside in a minute," I told her as she entered the house.
"Um okay I'll leave the door opened for you," I watched as she entered the house and closed the door while leaving it slightly opened. I looked back at Tre.
"You were crying back there weren't you?" Tre simply asked. I opened my mouth to speak but quickly shut it before I said anything. I looked down and nodded. "You want to talk about it?" I shook my head. Tre bit his bottom lip. "You sure? Is there something going on with you and Billie?" I quickly looked up at him with wide eyes.
Maybe he saw us kiss. I hoped with all my heart that he didn't but the look in his eyes made it seem that he knew. Billie sat in the back seat of the car watching us talk but not being able to hear a thing and it made his heart beat faster. He knew what Tre was capable of.
After seeing how hard it was to get him off of Jason he now had knowledge how far he would go for me, and it scared him. His heart seem to beat faster with every passing second, and so did mine.
"Steph?" Tre said after I didn't answer. A small tear went down my cheek, a tear that revealed the answer to Tre's question.
