Abandoned At A Green Day Concert, chapter 7
He started driving through a city, and soon we saw a sign pointing in the direction of a mall. "You wanna go there?"; he asked me. "Sure, doesn't matter,"; I said. We parked and walked in, and as we were walking I slipped my hand into his. He looked down at me and smiled. His smile always made me feel warm, not like Tre, whose smile either told me he was up to something or just made me want to bust out laughing.
We went to Hot Topic, Delia's, and some other stores, where I got a few shirts and a couple pairs of jeans. I wanted to pay for my clothes, but Mike insisted on buying them for me. We walked around a while longer, and we saw a sign for Starbuck's. It was a unanimous decision, made by only looking at each other and the sign in front of us a few yards away, and suddenly both of us were walking in and ordering.
It was February, so they had their Valentine flavors up. I ordered a Peppermint Cookie Kiss Frappuccino, and Mike got a Mocha-Mint Cappuccino, with three shots of espresso. He giggled as we sat down, and whispered to me, "Ya know what?"; "What?"; I asked curiously. "I usually only get one shot of espresso!"; he said, and then he laughed evilly. I had a feeling the next few hours would be crazy, but not in the way they turned out to be...
After Starbuck's, we left the mall and went to WalMart so I could get some underwear and whatnot. When we got there, I told Mike that I would only be a few minutes, so stay in the car. He agreed, and started to pull out his wallet. I put my hand on his arm and said, "Let your money stay in the car, too."; He pouted and protested, "But sweetie..."; "No, really. I'll be right back,"; I said, kissing him on the cheek and getting out of the car.
Once inside, I made a bee-line for the underwear. I got myself a pack and moved on to the bra's. I was trying to find the kind I had on, because I had checked that morning what size it was. Suddenly, I heard a voice I thought I had done away with years ago say my name. I turned around, hoping and praying it wouldn't be him. It was.
His name was Jack, and he had stalked me when I was younger. He had been madly in "love"; with me (if love can only be one-sided), and he never knew how to take "no"; as a final answer.
"Hi,"; he said, walking up to me. I wished he would vanish. That I would wake up snuggled next to Mike, and this would all be a bad dream. "Hello."; I said flatly. I sighted the bra I needed, but didn't pick it up. I didn't need him trying to visualize me in it. "How've you been? It's been a while,"; he said with a friendly smile. Too friendly. He put his hand on my shoulder. I moved away. "Good."; I said, "Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go. I'm busy."; I walked away, and put the underwear back. I walked out to the car, but I could tell he was following me. As I got into the car, I wanted to laugh, because Mike's espresso had kicked in, but I couldn't. I barely got in before Jack got there. I locked the door and looked at Mike, who was bouncing around and singing loudly.
"Come here,"; I said, pulling Mike close to me. Jack stood there next to my window and watched as Mike and I made out. Mike stopped mid-kiss and pulled away slowly. "Who is that guy and why is he staring at us like that?"; he asked nervously. I didn't turn to see how Jack was staring at us, I just told Mike, "Drive, and I'll explain. We can come back later for what I need."; Mike put the car in gear and we took off...
