It's Not As Easy As It Looks, chapter 17

I turned up to Billie's house at roughly midday in Mike's car, Mike turned to look at me as I was about to get out.
"So are you going to tell him?"
"Maybe." A smile formed on the side of my mouth as I got out the car and walked upto Billie's door. I didn't even have to knock as Tré opened the door and grabbed me and Mike in.
"What the-" I slapped Tré's hand away as I looked to him.
"Lost the hamster again?" I laughed as Tré looked to Mike unimpressed.
"You told her?" Mike shrugged and walked away, Tré held him back though as I closed the door and waited for Tré to talk.
"These people are crazy," he whispered, pointing behind him, I looked between his and Mike's shoulder and laughed.
"Of course they are, they're stuck in the house with you." Tré swatted me as I squealed and moved away.
"Stop it!" I playfully slapped Tré away, but with him slapping back it turned into a play bitch slapping fight, I put my arms down and sighed.
"Damn it Tré! Grow up!"
"Billie's got this girl over," Tré let out between pants, I narrowed my eyes at him, almost snorting.
"So?"
"He's been hanging around with her."
"Tré, I don't give a damn."
"But you like him," he trailed off, I sighed and looked to the ground.
"Mike can't keep his mouth shut," I muttered under my breath as I looked back upto Tré, I shrugged and started to walk off.
"Hey wait," I turned around and moaned, not more confrontation. I looked to Tré and smirked at his attempt to get me to say I was jealous, but I wasn't..right? He laid a hand on my shoulder to stop me going any further.
"Tré bug off, I'm not jealous, kay? She's just a girl..Billie can have friends that are girls, hell he can have girlfriends, what's wrong with that?"
"I want you to be happy, and I know you like him..so tell him."
"Thanks Tré but if he like someone else.."
"They haven't kissed, held hands-"
"Ok I get it! Maybe later," Tré smirked and nodded, he and Mike walked into the kitchen to get some alcohol whilst I wondered off into the living room. I don't mean this in a bad way but I never knew Billie had so many friends, and I hadn't even seen most of them. I had known Billie since December yet it felt like a whole year, in which time I didn't see many people around, or I just wasn't paying attention. Most likely the last one.
"Hey," I felt the seat sink beside me as I looked and smiled.
"Hey birthday boy."
"Hey," Billie took a sip from his can of beer and settled it beside him.
"You look great," he smirked, I blushed and bit my lip.
"Thanks." A moment of silent loomed upon us as I felt a question just strolling out my mouth.
"So...Tré said you got a girl over."
"I have many girls over," he said sounding very confused.
"Ah but Tré was all like...you were talking to her like you liked her."
"So?"
"Ah forget it," I mumbled as Billie quirked an eyebrow.
"Well okay then." Another moment of silence passed as I flicked some invisible lint off my trousers and watched as Billie sipped on his drink some more.
"How's your day going?"
"Fine I guess, parties just...get sorta boring all the while, birthdays are so repetitive ya know?"
"I know, I grew out of being excited for Christmas when I was like 14...I wish I was young again."
"Me too, I'd change a few things," he laughed as he stood up and stretched out his arm.
"Wanna meet that girl you was rambling on about?"
"I wasn't rambling," I smirked as I lifted myself off the couch and held his hand, he dragged me outside onto his patio, he pointed at a girl who was sitting on the floor talking to a group of people in a circle, she stood up, taking her blonde hair out of her loose pony tail and letting it flow below her shoulders.
"Hey Tiff!" Billie shouted, deafening me, he let go of me hand and walked over to this 'Tiff'. She smiled as she pulled him into a close hug. I walked up to the two and smiled. They pulled out of the hug and looked to me.
"Jenni this is Tiff, Tiff this is Jenni."
"Yello," I waved as she waved back, returning the same smile I had on my face.
"Hey...so you're the famous Jenni...heard a lot about you." I raised my eyebrow and blushed.
"Is that a good or bad thing?"
"From what I hear it's good." Billie turned and winked at me, forcing me to grin like an idiot.
"Well that's one way to make me blush," I laughed quietly looking at the ground.
"So, you girls want anything to drink?" Billie asked us both, I nodded and so did Tiff.
"Coke," we both said in unison, I turned to look at her and laughed, Billie smiled and nodded.
"Well alright then, I'll be right back."
"Ok," I smiled as he walked off to get us drinks, I turned to Tiff and smiled.
"Uhm," I looked down to the ground to try and figure out what to say.
"So, what did Billie say about me?" I asked curiously, as she grinned.
"That your kind, funny, smart, pretty-" At the point I kinda had to hide my huge grin, I looked down but couldn't help but chuckle.
"-and basically a very good friend."
"Oh my God," I said, my eyes wide.
"He is such a-"
"A what?" Billie surprised me from behind.
"Nice person," I grinned as I took my beverage from him.
"Thank you," Billie nodded and gave the other drink to Tiff. He stood next to her as they started talking, I wasn't listening, I was kind of in my own world at that point, just thinking.
"Jen?"
"Huh?" I looked up to Billie, looking like a total retard just staring at the ground.
"Wanna come to the zoo tomorrow with me and Tiff?"
"Oh uh...why don't ya go by yourselves, get to know each other better."
"But..." Billie whined, giving me those puppy eyes you surrender to.
"...fine." Billie smirked as if he was proud of making me go. I didn't have any plans I just didn't want to spend all day listening to Billie and Tiff talk. I didn't want to feel left out.
So as the night grew older and closer to an end many drinks were drunk, and so were many people. Nearly everyone who had showed up had left by stumbling out the front door, but by the end of the street they had either thrown up, passed out or fallen over.
I was still in Billie's house, half asleep on his couch as he sat on the floor singing 'happy birthday to me' over and over again.
"Ugh.." I murmured, opening my eyes slightly and letting them adjust to the light shining from the TV.
"Shut up you dumbass, it's 2am, it's no longer your birthday," I spat as Billie just laughed, I shook my head at him, closing my eyes again.
"You staying here?" he asked as he stood up and looked at me. I lazily opened one eye to look at him.
"No."
"Ok, don't you think the guest room is comfier though?"
"I can't be bothered to get up," I moaned as Billie laughed again, he nodded and headed upstairs, he came down with some blankets and put them on me.
"Ok, but remember we're going to the zoo early tomorrow," he whispered, I nodded slowly and slowly went to sleep.

***

"Stop poking me Billie," I sat up as my eyes focused on Billie, I squinted as they still hurt from the light. Billie stepped back as I narrowed my eyes at him.
"You ready to go?"
"Yes, now quick get ready."
"And wear the same clothes as yesterday? Come on I smell like a bar."
"You don't smell like a bar," Billie said as he sniffed me but scrunched his nose up.
"Want me to drop you off at your house to get changed?"
"Yeah, need to check on Haushinka anyways." So we both left, but first I grabbed a hat off Billie's table and forced it over my hair that looked like a bird's nest. I got home and got changed, I looked for Haushinka but she must of been sleeping somewhere in the house, I filled her bowl with fresh water and gave her fresh food.
"All done," I whispered to myself, I grabbed my coat and slung it over my shoulders, I quickly left the house and locked my door before hopping back into Billie's car.
"So, are you picking up Tiff?" Billie nodded as his eyes focused on the road infront of him, I buckled up my seat belt and patted my hands on my legs.
"Alright then."
We finally picked up Tiff, she had quite a small house but it was cute.
"Hey," She smiled as she got into the back of the car with a backpack, she took her lipstick out and a mirror as I turned around and laughed.
"Lipstick...in a car? That's gonna end in catastrophe"
"Mhm, I hope not, Billie drive slowly over bumps in the road," she giggled. She finished doing her lipstick and put it back in her backpack.
"Are we there yet?" I mumbled to Billie as I looked to my watch.
"How come it's taken like an hour?"
"We had to pick up Tiff."
"So what, another hour now?"
"Your so impatient," Billie rolled his eyes at me as I mumbled something quietly under my breath.
"Well, this seat is kinda uncomfortable." Billie gasped as I sighed.
"I'm joking," I laughed as Billie smirked.
"Whatever...hey anyone travel sick?" Both me and Tiff lifted our hand up into the air.
"No you're not Jen."
"I am, just not all the time."
"Are you Tiff?" She nodded as I noticed she was getting a little paler. Oh boy. I hate it when people threw up in cars. Scratch that, I hate it when people throw up all together. The sound, the smell. Ew.
"You need to puke now?"
"Nah, I'll be okay."
"Kay, but if you feel the need.."
"Ok ok," She grinned as Billie looked to me.
"And you," I nodded as he continued driving. Half an hour later we were the zoo.
"Why are we going to a zoo anyways? Aren't they for little kids?" Tiff laughed as I turned to her.
"I am a kid though."
"How old are you?"
"24, I didn't mean in that way, my brain is the age of a 5 year old still."
"Oh, I'm 27."
"Really? You don't look it," Tiff blushed and looked down.
"Thanks Jen, you really don't look 24, you look like your still in your teens, yet you look mature."
"I - er..thanks," I bit my lip and smirked. We payed to get into the zoo and started walking around, we looked at all the animals, making funny jokes along the way. I noticed that Tiff was becoming more friendly to me, yet becoming closer to Billie. Jealous? No, whatever Billie chose to do I was still happy for him, but I'd regret not telling him I liked him before hand.
We sat down in the restaurant there and ordered ourselves a burger and fries each with Pepsi as a drink.
"Awh, they don't sell alcohol," Billie whined as I rolled my eyes at him.
"Shut it you alcoholic."
"I'm not an alcoholic!" I grinned at how easily he could be wound up.
"Psh. Whatever." Billie gasped and play slapped me.
"See. Your being a bully because you're sober."
"No I'm not!" I made a motion like a clock being wound up as I giggled, Billie shook his head but also laughed.
"You're evil."
"And it isn't even that time of the month."
"Nice for you," Tiff sighed looking at me.
"Sucks eh? Men have it real easy...like really really easy."
"Yeah, no period pains, no birth pains, no menopause."
"Can we not talk about this whilst I'm eating?" Billie moaned looking ill as he looked to his burger.
"Ugh. I think I've lost my appetite now."
"Can I eat it then?" Tiff asked cheekily, Billie shook his head and ate the food anyways.
"Aw you're just mean," she smiled as we all finished our meals and left to walk around the zoo for the last time.
"What would you do if I pushed you into the penguin pool?"
"Drag you in with me," I laughed as I looked into the pool.
"Looks pretty cold...wanna test the water"
"Er...no?" he answered. I looked at him funnily, biting my lip.
"Why'd you say that like it was a question?" He shrugged as Tiff came running up to us.
"They're feeding the tigers! People can feed them too!" she squealed as I looked to Billie.
"Can I feed you to the tigers?"
"Yeah sure, let's go," he said sarcastically as I whacked him on the back of the head as he did the same.
"You two are like brother and sister."
"He secretly is."
"Really?"
"No," I laughed as we walked off the look at the tiger's being fed.
"Wow, I wish I had teeth like that," I whispered as I peered through the steel fence.
"Yeah, think of all the damage and carnage..." Billie replied also looking. Tiff turned to me and giggled.
"I'd get those teeth just to eat chewy food," I laughed quietly as we all stepped away.
"Shall we go now?" Billie asked looking to his watch, I thought, but not too hard.
"Yeah, my feet are starting to get achy, you wanna go to Tiff?"
"Uh sure, whatever floats your boat." So we piled back into Billie's car and drove off, we dropped off Tiff to her house and I made my way back to my own house.
"Okay then, here's your home."
"Really? My home?"
"Sarcastic till the very end."
"Yup," I laughed getting out the car.
"Bye," I waved as he waved back and drove off, I got back home and immediately sat down on my couch and rested. Which is basically what I did for the next two days. I didn't go anywhere or do anything. Tré, Mike, Morgan, Billie...even Tiff phoned me. But I stayed in my house.
So three days later from when I went to the zoo I was getting ready to go out to the store to pick up a few things. I opened my door but saw Billie's car pull up on my empty drive way. I narrowed my eyes, not knowing why he had turned up.
"Hey," I smiled as he walked upto the door.
"Going out?"
"Just to the store."
"Oh, sorry...I'll call back another time."
"Oh it's okay, it can wait, what did you want or..need?"
"Just to hang out really," he smirked. I nodded and let him in my house. He sat down on my couch as I walked into my kitchen.
"Want anything to drink?" I called out.
"No I'm okay thanks. I had about 10 coffees this morning," I heard him chuckle as I boiled my kettle to make myself a cup of coffee.
"You know, the coffee tastes kinda different over here." Billie walked into the kitchen and sat down on a stool that was around the kitchen island.
"Really? How different?"
"I dunno...just different. I can't explain it I guess." I shrugged and poured the boiling water into the cup of coffee. I didn't add any milk since I didn't have any soya milk or anything without lactose, which was one of the many reasons why I was going to the store. I sipped on my coffee before Billie pulled a face in disgust.
"Ew. Black coffee? Ugh..too strong for me."
"You're just weak," I laughed as I put the cup on the island.
"So why'd you really come here Billie? Advice?" He shrugged, he was hiding something, I could tell since he said he had 10 cups of coffee and his fingers weren't even drumming on the island in front of him like usual.
"Lemme go get my mail and I'll be right back, kay?"
"Kay," he mumbled, fiddling with his car keys as I went outside to my mail box. I got my mail and walked back in. I lay them on the island and sorted through them. I sighed and looked to one.
"All junk except this.." I opened it up and gasped.
"I got the job!"
"Job? What job?" Billie asked curiously as I randomly hugged him, I pulled out and smiled.
"At the zoo! I got in! So now I need a driving license.."
"I could drive you there whilst you train to get one."
"Really? That would be so awesome!"
"Yeah, so when do you start?"
"Like...erm...it says the 4th April."
"Which is basically a month a way, it's the 20th now right? Only a week or so until March."
"Yeh then I got my birthday on the 20th."
"Wow...25...what do you like?"
"Nothing," I grinned as Billie frowned.
"Come on...you gave me a present."
"Mike kinda help pick it out," I mumbled looking down.
"Eh, you still bought it."
"Mike said you'd say that."
"He knows me way too much..." Billie laughed as I nodded.
"Okay, so what do you want?"
"Nothing seriously, I hate people wasting money on me."
"A car! I'll get you a car!" I sighed, and placed my hand on my forehead.
"Fine," I said, admitting to defeat.
"The new beetle..pastel yellow or black, convertible roof"
"You got it all planned out."
"I love that car," I smiled as I looked to him.
"Oh yeah, so what do you need?" I asked him as he looked away shyly.
"I'll tell you later."
"Okay.." I said slowly. For the rest of the day me and Billie goofed about, we went to the store and picked up some items, but also some popcorn we were going to cook and we also rented a movie. We got back and I put the popcorn in a pan and put the lid on, I listened to the popping and waited till it fully finished.
"How'd you like your popcorn? Salt, butter, sugar..?"
"Uhm, butter and sugar will be fine," Billie grabbed two glasses and filled them with coke.
"Wow...no alcohol," I joked as Billie finished pouring and put the bottle of coke back in the fridge.
"Ha ha, very funny."
"I know I know," I said taking a mini bow and laughing. I put the popcorn into a bowl and melted some butter, I quickly poured it over the popcorn before it burnt then sprinkled some sugar over the popcorn, we sat down on my couch and put the DVD in my DVD player, we settled down quickly and watched the movie. Half way through the movie I figured it was the best time to tell Billie, since he was there and sitting right next to me, but I sighed, I didn't have enough courage in me yet. Hopefully it would build up before he left. After the movie had finished I washed the popcorn bowl and put it back and Billie did the same with the glasses.
"We should so do this more often."
"Yeh," I laughed and looked down at my bitten finger nails. I bite my nails when I'm nervous, and thinking about what I was going to say to Billie was very nerve wracking. We both sat back down on the couch...this was it. I was going to tell him and not worry about what he was going to say after. Though I would do something like this...then my conscience would at after I did something, making me feel really bad, even though it was too late. But I wasn't going to just sit around thinking about it anymore. I couldn't, it was burning a hole in my head from thinking about it, so as I finally plucked up enough courage to tell him I turned to look at him, and he did the same to me.
"Bill-"
"I-" We both laughed as I let him carry on.
"You sure?" I nodded as he carried on with what he had to say, which only made me more nervous about what I had to say to him.
"I need to tell you something, I think your the only one who can understand and give me advice on this but...I think I might make a move on Tiff." My mouth slowly dropped as I sighed, I placed a hand on my forehead and finally looked upto Billie.
"So before you give me your godly advice, what did you want to tell me?"
"I-er..nevermind Billie.."
