It's Not As Easy As It Looks, chapter 19
15th March, 5 days before I turned 25 and I wasn't even excited. I was in mall, watching as Tré scurried off into different shops, obviously buying stuff for my birthday.
"How's that surprise party coming?" I asked him as he walked out of a shop named 'Occasions', in the window it had balloons, party streamers, wedding cakes, all that kind of stuff.
"S-Surprise party? What surprise p-party?"
"The one you've been planning with Mike for the past week, I'm not that stupid."
"Really huh?"
"Ik ben de beste."
"What?"
"I am the best," I smiled proudly, sneakily looking into one of Tré's bag's and seeing party banners with '25' on them..way to over do it.
"Cool, I'll remember that, could be a hot pick up line."
"Tré, you can be a moron sometimes," I complained, trying to hide a smile that was begging to surface.
"Yeh, but being a moron is cool..right?"
"Yes Tré, it's Tré Cool," Tré laughed as we started to walk out the mall.
"It's quite warm today," I pointed out as I hopped into Tré's car, he nodded and put his shopping bag's in the chair behind, we buckled up then drove back to my house.
"So I was thinking to take you out on your birthday, erm..early in the morning?"
"So you can get Mike or someone to put streamers up? What's the point, I have like 3 friends in America," A cheeky grin appeared on Tré's face. He defiantly had something planned, but I wonder what.
"Yeh, but it will still be fun."
"I suppose it will, just aslong as it isn't like any of my previous surprise birthday parties.."
"Why have you dragged me here?" I sighed as Jaz smirked, she simply carried on walking, I followed, since she was the source of transport back home.
"What? The quarry?" My home town Cannock was famous for it's Chase and German war cemetry, and it had many other forests, one named 'Shoal Hill', which was a gigantic hill once you had gotton through all of the tree's. In the 70's, it was so hot, the hill caught on fire, so all the tree's that were there died. Since none were planted since, it was basically a hill with heather everywhere, apart from some tree's. There was one with a bench, me and my mother would go there, for a picnic, or to simply rest after we had walked around. The place held alot of memories. So there's a little background information for you.
"Yes, I'm going to push you down and watch you die," I quirked an eyebrow at Jaz who laughed.
"Come on," She started running down part of the sloaped hill, so I followed her.
"Remember...why...I let you...bring me...here," I panted inbetween breaths. As I started to run faster down the hill, my legs weren't following, the buckled underneath me and caused me to fall for the rest of the hill.
"Shit!" Jasmine cried out running down towards my body.
"You idiot," I laughed as a tear glided down my cheek out of shear agony.
"I'm so sorry."
"Hold on, I'll get an ambulance," I groaned and looked to see my body pretty badly damaged.
"Okay, their coming, just hold on."
"I'm not going to die you dumbass," I yelled, sitting up, I clamped my eyes closed from the pain and gritted my teeth.
"You shouldn't move, I mean what if you become paralysed."
"Then your to blame," I looked down at my knee to see it bleeding.
"I think you've broken my leg."
"How have I?"
"Your the one that dragged me down."
"True, but you shouldn't have run as fast"
"Your blaming me?!"
"Sorry," Jasmine apologized, bowing her head, I tried to move my leg but screamed out in pain.
"Ahh crap," I bit my lip so much I punctured it.
"This is my first broken bone," I admitted, trying to sit up straight, but just ended lying on my back because it hurt to much.
I spent the rest of the day in a hospital, my 17th birthday wasn't too good, only my friends and family came to me in hospital and set up a mini party there. I spent overnight in hospital. When I got home, struggling with crutches, my friends had set up a proper birthday party, even if it was my birthday the day before.
"Yeh. That birthday was the most painfullest I have to say."
"Wow, are you kidding me?"
"Nope, so that suprise birthday party was pretty lame, I mean one in the hospital and one the day after.."
"Well it's not the party that counts."
"But it is how much fun you have, and seriously, I had no fun in hospital."
"I would hate for that to happen," Tré sighed, pulling into my empty driveway and parked.
"I hope I pass on my driving test, I hope I'm not gonna be like Spongebob."
"What, flor it and crash into a lighthouse, then make your driving instructor inflate? Nah, I'm sure you'll do fine."
"I meant fail...alot."
"Well your clever enough."
"But, I'm not that good with cars and things, I mean, you've seen me at the arcade."
"Yeh, your pretty shit there," I shot a worried look at Tré who quickly regretted saying it.
"I mean, you'll do fine, don't worry!"
"Thanks Tré," I laughed, getting out of the car.
"Well, see yah then," he replied, waving, as he backed up out my drive and headed to his home. I walked upto my door and opened it, I could hear the faint sound of my home telephone ringing, I quickly shut the door and ran to my phone.
"Hello?" I asked, breathing heavily.
"Hey, it's just Morg."
"Oh, hey! How you doing?"
"Fine, thanks, you?"
"Well I suppose I've been worse."
"Aw, what's wrong hun?"
"I was finally gonna tell Billie I liked him," I paused, hoping she wouldn't call Billie up after and tell him everything. "But he talked first, and he asked me how to ask Tiff out."
"Who's Tiff?"
"His girlfriend." I sighed, fiddling with the phone wire and nervously biting my lip. "Please don't tell him."
"I won't, I won't."
"Okay, thankyou - so why did you call?" I laughed.
"Just to see how you are, I'm bored, and I dyed my hair black."
"What?! Really? Must look nice."
"Yeh, I have purple streaks in it aswell, everyone in college is loving it."
"Bet they are," I smirked, as I sat down on my couch.
"So, your birthday is soon, got any plans?"
"Nope," I laughed, before lieing down on my bed. "Tré is setting up a surprise party though."
"Not really a surprise then, is it?"
"Well he kinda made it obvious by walking out of a party store."
"Tré can be so dumb," Morgan giggled, I sat back up on my couch, realising that I wasn't comfortable lying down.
"Yeh, he can, he's been trying to help me though, which is nice..but he's over doing it."
"Just enjoy it whilst it lasts."
"I'll try," I sighed, as I heard a bell ringing out on the end of the phone call.
"Well I got to go now, my class has just started and I don't want to be late..again, bye!"
"Bye Morgan!" The phone call ended and I put the phone back on it's stand, I yawned before my eyelids gently closed down over my eyes, realising I was falling asleep, I walked upto my bedroom, I shut the curtains, took my shoes off and took a nap fully clothed...
***
"I don't fucking understand," Tiff mumbled, sitting down next to me on my patio.
"Why won't you talk to each other?" I sighed, Tiff didn't seem to know me too well.
"I'm too stubborn, I tell Billie something and he turns it back in my face, he doesn't like to be wrong."
"Both of you are stubborn?"
"Yeh, I told you this a few days back.."
"Really? Crap, sorry," She laughed nervously, as I stood up.
"Want a drink?"
"Uhm, yeh please," She nodded, as she followed me into the kitchen.
"I got - er, Coca Cola, and Dr. Pepper," I said, heaving the two litre bottle onto my kitchen island.
"Dr. Pepper," Tiff pointed the bottle, I nodded and put the Cola away, I got two plastic beakers and started to pour the drinks.
"Here ya go," I smiled, handing her the cup.
"Can't you just talk and make up? Billie is very quiet towards me lately"
"Just to you? I mean..not to anyone else?"
"Yeh, is this to do with me?"
"N-No," I stuttered, I didn't want to hurt her feelings..
"You sure? Because..I dunno, guess I'm paranoid," I bit my lip, I wanted to tell her, but the fear of losing another friend hurt.
"Okay, it's about you, when Billie started dating you, he got further and further away from me, he hardly talks to me, makes arrangements, or is there for me when I need to talk to me, I told him this and he said he's been hanging out with you, which lead me to believe that I was being replaced and I felt left out, now don't get mad at me please, but I just want things like they was, I want you two to go out, but I don't want to be left in the shadows."
"Wow..I can't believe I never saw this, Billie has been acting like a dumbass to you, I will talk to him later, sort things out, he's in the wrong, and I think he knows it, that's why he's being so quiet."
"You sure? I don't want you two to fall out too"
"If it ends up like that then so be it, I'm not just gonna date Billie and screw up your friendship, I'm not like that, if it means me leaving him so you two can be friends again..then I'll do it."
"But-"
"Jen, your killing my kind vibes, be quiet fool," She laughed, as I sighed and nodded.
"Okay then, good luck," I smirked, as she nodded.
"So with all that said, do you think you can be friends with Billie?" I shrugged, but then smirked.
"Probably, the man can't go three days without me, I know that for a fact."
***
The sheets of my bed twisted and turned, as my body was subconsiously moving. Yet another nightmare. I ended up rolling into what must of looked like a caterpiller in a cacoon. My body rolled off and hit the floor with a dull thud. My eyes gently opened, my brain trying to figure out what happened, and me trying to get out of my bed sheets. I wriggled and finally got out, I kicked the sheets, mumbling at the same time, I then walked over to my wardrobe and picked out some jeans and a brown top with skulls on it, I walked into my bathroom, laying the clothes down on the side, I got undressed and stepped into the shower. Stepping out 10 minutes later, I quickly dryed myself and put on my clothes. I figured today would be a lazy day, so I didn't bother with make up, I walked out of the bathroom and glanced at my alarm clock, '10:54 am', I groaned, remembering Tiff saying she would be coming around at 11am.
It was the 19th March, so by now Tiff had talken to Billie, so when she came she was going to tell me everything that happened. As soon as I thought of that, I automatically gulped.
As if on queue, a knock on the door noisly rang out through out my house, causing Haushinka to jump out of her seat on my couch. I giggled, and walked over to the door. I swung open the door smiling, expecting Tiff..but instead I saw Billie, I sighed as I moved to let him inside my house.
"I thought Tiff was coming?" I asked in a low voice, almost muttering as Billie walked in.
"She wanted me to come, to sort everything out."
"What changed your attitude?"
"A hit on the head..literally."
"Ooh. So that's how Billie Joe works," I replied, whacking him on the head, he laughed, but half whimpered at the same time.
"I'm sorry for the way I've acted."
"Me too, I should have listened to you and tried to understand, instead of argueing."
"Thanks Tiff" I mumbled, grinning.
"Well..so what now?" I asked, walking into my living room and sitting down on my couch, Billie followed and shrugged.
"No idea, wanna hang out or something?"
"Sure, I wasn't planning on doing anything today," I sighed and yawned, I turned on the television as Billie sat down next to me. "Has Claremont ever been on television?" I asked out of nowhere.
"Er, a few times, why?"
"I dunno, it would be cool to see it, like when Cannock was on television, I'd get really excited, even though one time it was on with a program called, 'Teen Tamers', which is about a teenager who don't listen to their parents, are really naughty, skip school, are violent, you get me..and it was about a girl named Gemma, and surprisingly, her grandma went out with my grandad so I knew her, plus she was my age and in my year at school, she got pregnant by 15 and dropped out though..lovely life she must have now, I haven't saw many people from school, only people I have stayed in touch with."
"Wow.." I laughed at Billie's frozen face, I waved a hand infront of it and he bit me.
"I thought you said you don't bite," I smirked, also raising my eyebrow at him.
"No, I said I don't bite..alot."
"Riiiight," We settled down and watched a movie, it seems I was doing that a lot lately, half way through the movie, we seemed to be getting a bit too comfy. Billie and I started to lean on each other, we normally did this, but since he had a girlfriend..I didn't feel comfortable, and immediatly leaned the other way.
"Uh..sorry," He sighed, as he bit his lip, I nodded in repsonse.
"It's..it's okay," No. No it isn't Jenni. Because you want to be next to him. But you don't want to feel like your letting Tiff down. Jenni..you only live once. I leaned my head against his shoulder and cuddeled up next to him. Guilty as charged. But the feeling was so nice...
"Your confusing me," Billie whispered, before stretching.
"I confuse myself," I smiled, closing my eyes, not realising I was so comfortable I was falling asleep.
***
"Ow..dead arm," I heard someone mumble as I opened up my eyes, I looked out my window to see it was dark, and me still leaning on Billie.
"Oh crap..sorry, you could of moved me."
"Nah, your light, it was comfortable."
"How did you go to the toilet?"
"Well I haven't been sitting here all day," He laughed as I nodded. "I lifted you gently onto the couch to get up, then would lean you against me when I got back from doing whatever."
"Oh, okay, thank you for staying here."
"No problem, I love it here," He smiled, as I nodded.
"Yeh, thanks for getting me this place."
"It wasn't just me.."
"I know, but..whatever," I shrugged and laughed, before Billie's phone started to ring.
"One minute," I nodded, as he walked into my kitchen. Resist. Resist. But I couldn't resist..plus this was my house, even though I was invading his privacy.
"Yes Tiff, we're fine," I heard him mumble, and I couldn't help but giggle quietly.
"Yeh yeh, thank you." I poked my head around the corner to see Billie rubbing his eyes with his hand. "Okay then, bye." I quickly ran back to my seat and lay down, I yawned as Billie came in, pretending I was relaxing. Billie rolled his eyes at me, but smirked after.
"You moron," He said, biting his lip and shaking his head. I gasped, throwing the cushion I was leaning on at him.
"Me, nope? What you talking about?"
"I know you were watching me.."
"Really? You quite amazing then Armstrong."
"Why thank you," He smirked, bowing down, but I just threw another cushion.
"Being stuck in this house is making me crazy," I moaned, jumping up from the couch and grabbing my coat, "Let's go out."
"To where exactly?" Billie asked, walking next to me, following me like a dog. I shrugged, opening the door and locking it once Billie was also outside. "No idea, I'll tell you once I've figured one out..what time is it?"
"9."
"Oh. Eek..it's scary out in the dark."
"You scared of the dark?"
"Haven't you asked that thousands of times?"
"Maybe," Billie replied sheepishly, as I laughed. "Yeh, I am scared of the dark."
"Oh, okay, I'll protect you from the evil stuff."
"Yeh, lotta evil stuff out there," I smirked and started walking down the street.
"Uhm. Maybe we should drive somewhere," Billie said, walking upto his car, I shrugged, not really caring where I was going, I just needed to get out of my house. I hopped in the passenger seat of his car and did up my seat belt.
"Ready for lift off!" Billie drove me around Claremont, driving past the bustling town, we stopped by the bay, I smiled as I got out the car.
"Mhm..I like it here," I closed my eyes, feeling the warm air breeze across my face.
"Yeh, it's peaceful," Billie replied, taking off his shoes and leaving them in his car, I also did the same, he locked his car and we started walking down the beach.
"Very peaceful, I don't know why no one else is on here, it's so awesome," Billie simply nodded, and then entwined his fingers with my own, I blushed, looking down to the ground like a nervous teenager on a first date.
"Just protecting you," He smiled, also looking down. I felt so at peace..before Billie looked to his watch and started to panic.
"I uh..I gotta go."
"What where?"
"Uhm, somewhere..sorry I'll drop you off at your house and-"
"Billie shut it! Where are you going?!"
"I can't tell you."
"Why?! What is so important that you can't tell me? Your best friend?!"
"Why are you freaking out?! It's my business, so buzz out of it!"
"I just want to know why your running off from me," I sighed, realising I had over reacted.
"Seriously..I can't tell you, what you know can't hurt you."
"What? What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nevermind."
"What are you not telling me Billie!?" I asked, getting frustrated as Billie being so secretive.
"Fine! You wanna know!? Me and Tré are shipping your friends from England to here, and I didn't want you to know! I had to rush home to check if they had arrived in the hotel okay..okay?!"
I bowed my head and sighed guiltly, "O-Oh..I'm so sorry Billie."
Billie muttered something under his breath before looking to me, "Maybe there's something your not telling me," Billie mumbled, folding his arms in an annoyed manner.
"Maybe there is," I simply said, turning away from Billie and slowly walking away...
