Why Can't All Bad Days Turn Out Like This?, chapter 1

Just as any other day would have started...the buzzing of my alarm clock woke me up from a deep sleep much too early for my liking. It was 8:00am and time for me to get up so I could get ready for work.

Generally there was always hot water for my shower...but not today! After rushing through a really cold shower, I dried off and went to put my work shirt on only to find that it was in the washer (still wet). After mumbling a few cuss words and kicking the washer once or twice, I threw the shirt in the dryer, hoping it would be dry in time for me to leave for work.

I started to make my usual cup of caffeine, to give me the energy I needed to make it past 9:30, only to find that I was out of coffee. By this point I was a little mad and not having my coffee wouldn't help any, so I decided that I would have to make time for a Starbucks stop. Knowing that Starbucks would be ten minutes out of my way, I knew I would have to leave early.

Finally one thing went right for me that morning, and I threw my still damp shirt on and pulled out a few minutes early and headed to Starbucks. I was almost there when I noticed traffic was stopped up ahead. Go figure with the morning I was having I would have to get stuck in a traffic jam because some idiot didn't know how to drive!

I knew I would be there a while, so I turned the car off and rolled the windows down. After a few minutes the quietness was starting to get to me, so I put in Nimrod and turned the volume up a little.

Half way through Hitchin' a Ride, I heard a familiar voice singing along in the car that was next to me. I quickly turned my head to look and see who it was, and to my astonishment I saw Billie Joe sitting in the passenger seat of the car next to me and Mike was in the drivers seat.

"Shocked?" Billie said while laughing (probably at the face I was making).

"A little" I replied trying to hold back the over-excitement

"I take it you know who we are...so what's your name?"

"Nicole" I said a bit more calmly than I had been before. He began asking me questions about my favorite songs and CD's by them. He also asked if I was going to the show that was the next night. I told him that I had won tickets off of a radio station and that my friend and I would be right up front.

We talked for a good 30 minutes about a lot of different things, and then Billie did something I never expected...
