Why Can't All Bad Days Turn Out Like This?, chapter 3
"Well I can't help you with getting a drummer...that is Tre's job... but I could help you with getting a better guitar, and I'm sure Mike could help Lanna get a better bass." Billie said as Mike shook his head yes. "After all we have a lot of guitars."
"Thanks!" me and Lanna replied at almost the exact same time.
"No problem... just come back stage after the show and we will have them waiting for you." Mike said.
"Yeah if your lucky we might even teach you a little bit." Billie said with an evil grin on his face.
It was about 10:30, and Lanna had to go back to work. I hadn't even thought about how late I was for work. When it hit me that it was pay day, and the only way for me to get my check was to go to work, I knew that I would have to leave soon and head in to work. I had to think of some lame excuse to use like "I was sick and I feel better now." or "I had to go see my cousin in the hospital." in order for my boss not to fly off the handle and fire me.
I didn't want to leave... but I knew I would need the money to spend at the concert. I was trying to think of how to tell them that I had to leave when Billie spoke up and said...
"Well I don't mean to run... but we have to be somewhere in a few minutes...I hope you won't get the wrong idea and think we are ditchin' you."
"No. Thats fine I understand completely... besides I have to get to work." I replied.
They left and turned right on the road, and I had to make a left. Wow, I thought to myself. I just had coffee with Billie Joe and Mike! I pulled into the parking lot at the place I worked, climbed out of the car, and went in.
"Just a little late aren't we!" my boss said in a very unhappy voice. "We've been packed as hell and where have you been?"
"I was at Starbuck's hanging out with a couple of the members from Green Day!" I shouted back at her. All the time I had spent thinking of an excuse, and I blurted out the truth. For the first time ever I was glad I told her the truth!
"Well that is unexceptable! YOUR FIRED!" she screamed back.
I thought losing my job would make me feel worse than it did, but I was pretty happy that I didn't have to go back to work for that quack! I got my check and left. The next stop I made was the bank (to cash the check) and then I was off to the mall to get a new outfit to wear at the concert. I spent the rest of the day just relaxing and talking to Lanna about the day we had and how we couldn't wait until the concert. I had a hard time sleeping that night. All I could think/dream about was Green Day. The next morning...
