Why Is Love So Complicated?, chapter 1

It was a boring Thursday, down at the studio for Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt. They were working on the new album Warning, after their success in recent years. Billie Joe was currently writing a song entitled "Church On Sunday", he and his wife Adrienne were going through a rough patch at the moment and he wanted to dedicate this song to her and hopefully save his marriage of 6 years.

"How's it going?" asked Tre, looking over my shoulder.

"Ah it's coming along ok, I just hope it works." I replied with a deep sigh.

"I'm sure it will Billie, you just gotta spend time with her and stuff she'll come around and, if not I'll eat my drumsticks." Said Tre with a small laugh. I giggled a little.

"Yeah, you're right but, for now I am giving up on it and going home" I said grabbing my jacket and car keys.

"Bye Bill" said Tre.

"See ya Tre, bye Mike" I called to Mike, who was working on a baseline.

"Oh yeah, see ya" he called as I left the studio.

I got into my car, and threw my jacket on the backseat. I rested my head on the cold steering wheel and breathed deeply. I sighed before putting my key in the ignition, and pulled out of the parking lot.

When I arrived home, Adrienne was putting food on the table. I put my keys down, and sat down at the table.

"Hi honey" I said.

"Hello" she replied stiffly. This was her normal tone to me now.

"Hey Joey, how's it going?" I asked my eldest son.

"I lost a tooth" He replied smiling.

"You gonna see if the tooth fairy comes tonight?" I asked him.

"Uh huh" he replied, and began eating.

"Hey Jakob, have you been a good boy for mommy?" I asked him, ruffling his hair. He smiled and nodded.

"So, how has your day been?" I asked Adrienne.

"It was fine until you got back" she replied sharply.

"Look Adie, I was only asking, no need to bite my head off every time I talk to you." I told her. She just sat quietly and ate her meal, not saying a word.

That night, after the boys had gone to bed, Adie brought down some pillows and blankets.

"What are you doing?" I asked confused.

"Bringing these down for you" She told me.

"But, why?" I asked.

"Because, as of from tonight you are now sleeping on the couch." she told me.

"Oh jeez thanks" I snapped back her

"No problem, good night" she said and made her way upstairs to bed.

I turned off the light, and prepared myself for a sleepless night.
