Better Thank Your Lucky Stars, chapter 1
Better Thank Your Lucky Stars
Pt. 1
I woke up at 7:30 AM to Green Day's Pop rocks and Coke on my CD alarm clock. I moaned as I pulled myself out of bed; it was too early. I had stayed up till about 3 AM yesterday, partying with my best friend, Sarah. My phone started ringing as if on queue, with Sarah's name flashing on the caller ID. "Hello?" I answered sleepily. "Hey!" Sarah said. I looked at the phone in disbelief. How could she be so energetic? She must have gotten less sleep then I did. "Uh... hey Sarah. What's up?" I asked, actually curious as to why she would call me so early. She usually got up a little after noon. "Okay Tara, guess what!!" I sighed. "Sarah, Its to early for this." "C'mon Tara, guess!" "Uh... " I said, waiting for the anticipation to kill her. Sarah's not a very patient person. "I got tickets for me and you to see Green Day in 3 weeks!!" We both screamed into the phone like little schoolgirls. I can't believe that she did this. "I thought those tickets sold out weeks ago." I said, curious as to how she had managed to get them. "I've got connections." She replied. I could tell that she was smiling on the other line. "Ah yes, how could I have forgotten about your connections." We talked a little while longer, then hung up. I had to take a shower and get ready for today. Sarah and me had decided that we would go shopping for clothes to wear to the concert today. It wasn't good to put anything off.
***
I got to Sarah's house at around 8:45. She had so many tickets that she couldn't drive anymore. "Hey!" Sarah shouted at me as she walked out of her house. "What's up?" I asked, smiling. Today was going to be awesome, as it always is when Sarah and me hang out. " Nothing much kidd, but uh, I was wondering, could you pick up Kellen?" she asked. I nodded my head 'yes'. Kellen was Sarah's boyfriend. They had been going out as long as anyone can remember. He was one of my best friends. What do you expect when you've known someone since 7th/8th grade.
***
I picked up Kellen, and we were on our way to the mall. "Where do you wanna go first?" I asked Sarah. She looked at me and then gave me one of her sarcastic smiles. "Where do you think?" she asked. I rolled my eyes. "Hot Topic?" "You know it, Kidd!" I could tell that Kellen was rolling his eyes in the backseat. "Do you have to always go to the same stores?" he asked, a little annoyed. I sighed. Still to early. "Well, where do you want to go?" I asked. Kellen brightened up instantly. "Full Circle!" "But we're going CLOTHES shopping... " Sarah said, trying to make him understand the point of this whole trip. "Its fine." I said, not wanting them to start fighting. It wasn't something they did often, but today seemed to be one of those days. Probably because Sarah's cappuccino was wearing off and she was getting tired. She needs more caffeine.
***
At Hot Topic Sarah got herself a new Green Day shirt, a black and green striped long sleeve shirt and a plain black Hoodie. I got myself a suit coat type thing w/ Velcro removable pictures, Grr shoelaces, a Green Day patch, a pink and black striped tie, and some red liquid eyeliner/mascara. Kellen, despite what he said earlier, got himself a black tie, same red and black shoelaces and a black shirt. At The Full Circle, Sarah got the new Thrice CD. I got myself the hellogoodbye CD. Kellen got a poster, some vinyl and a Sabbath CD, that he didn't already have. After that we went to Roxie's Vintage. Sarah got a new dress, some plaid pants and a Roxie Tee. I got a light pink long sleeved shirt with little darker pink hearts on it, a Roxie Tee and a new hat. Kellen got himself a pin. Roxie's was more of a girly store and Kellen didn't really like it there. Afterwards I had some things I had to get just for me. First, I went into Kohl's and got a pair of black jeans. Then I stopped at Joann's Fabrics and got some thread and red and black fabric. "Can we go somewhere else?" Kellen asked, bored. "Sure, where do you want to go?" I asked. "RIT!!" I smiled. I had almost forgot. And we were right by there. We all went in this time. Kellen got a pair of drumsticks, new strings, some picks and a book of Tabs. I got myself a tuner, some picks, a Green Day Tab book and a new distortion pedal. Now I could give Kellen back the one I borrowed from him. Sarah got some picks and acoustic strings. She only had an acoustic guitar. "Kellen, how many guitars do you have?" I asked, turning towards him. "Uh... 21." He said, smiling as he thought of all his guitars. "Is there any one of them that you don't really like?" "Where are you going with this?" He asked, obviously thinking that I wanted one of his guitars. "For Sarah." I whispered, to make sure she didn't hear, even though she was quite out of earshot. "Oh." He replied, understanding. "Yeah, I'll give her one of my strats." "Okay." I said, smiling. She really deserved an electric guitar. "C'mon guys, lets go!" Sarah said, as she came back from paying.

(2 weeks later = 1 week left till GD concert)
"What's going on?" Asked Sarah, laughing a little. She was blind folded, and I was leading her to her room. She wasn't laughing as much as he had been before, as this whole 'adventure' started at my house. When I first blind folded her, she had been laughing her head off... typical Sarah, really. Kellen opened her bedroom door (from the inside) and Sarah and me walked in. I undid her blindfold slowly, making the anticipation higher then it already was. "Open your eyes!" Kellen and me shouted. When she did she screamed. In the middle of her room, Kellen had set up the red and white stratocaster on a stand, plugged into an Ibanez Amp. I had put a bow on the guitar, so it looked more like a present. "Oh my god guys! Is it for me?" I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Of course." She hugged us both, and then began playing the guitar.

(2 days before the GD concert)
Sarah and me checked into the hotel, excited about the concert in a few days. "Here you go, you two are in room 668 on the 6th floor." Said the receptionist, smiling one of those fake smiles. I hated when people did that. I always felt like punching them. "C'mon Tara, lets go!" Sarah said, excited. We practically ran to the elevator. We loved acting like little Kidds, even if we were both 19, me going on 20. When we got to our room we both collapsed on our own beds. Then Sarah gasped. "What?" I asked, rolling over to look at her, curious. "We never went shoe shopping." I opened my mouth in shock. I've shopped for entire outfits plenty of times, and I had never forgotten to get shoes. I stood up and put the hotel keys in my pocket. "Lets go." I said, heading for the door. "Woo! Shoe shopping in Grand Rapids!!" Sarah said, getting herself excited.

Once we got to the shoe store, Sarah and me separated instantly, having exactly what we wanted in mind. When we met up again Sarah had a pair of blue and green slip on vans, black and red converse and some black and pink audios. "Nice." I said, smiling. "What did you get?" She asked, curious. I had already paid for mine, so they were in box's//bags etc. "I got black and red slip on vans, black and pink converse, blue and tan new balance's and some black and white ariwalks (not slip on). I also got a pair of black and green converse." "Wow, you sure got a lot of shoes." Sarah laughed. I smiled. "I guess I lack control. The only ones I really needed were the black and greens." I replied. Sarah continued laughing as she walked up to the register. The little bell on the store entrance door rang. Naturally, I turned around, curious as to who was coming into the store. But I wasn't prepared for what I saw at all. Green day.
