Scattered, chapter 22

One Week Later

"So, Dawna's ok with this now?" Tre asked.

"Yes, she is, and I told her even if she wasn't happy with me playing my music she's gonna have to deal with it."

"Good, I'm glad we don't have to worry about you quitting, now lets get started." Mike said picking up his bass.

Krystal, Ellie, and Dawna

"So, how long do you think this CD will keep the guys away?" Dawna asked Krystal.

"I don't know, it all depends."

"Hey, are we still going out or are we staying here, until Mike comes back, with Billie and Tre?"

"Wanna go to the mall?"

"How would we get there?"

"Walk," both Krystal an Ellie gave Dawna a wired look.

"Ok, well then let's go," with that, the girls went down to the mall.

Once at the mall, the girls just walked around, until Dawna saw Matt, and some girl with him.

"What are you doing?" Krystal asked when Dawna stopped walking.

"I'm tired. Can we sit down?"

"Tried, well, we're heading home can't you wait?" Ellie asked.

"No," Dawna sat down, so Krystal and Ellie sat beside her.

"What are you looking at?" Krystal asked when Dawna hadn't answered her question.

"Ah, what?"

"What are you looking at?"

"Nothing," Dawna eyes didn't move.

"So then, are you ready to go?"

"No hold on," Dawna looked over at Matt, who was now kissing the girl. Dawna looked in disbelief. "Alright, I'm ok now," Dawna got up.

"Ok good, let's go this way."

"Why?" Dawna looked over at Matt again.

"I don't know just thought it would be easier," Krystal said.

"Actually, no it isn't," Ellie said.

"Ok, then let's go your way," Dawna did not want to walk by Matt.

"Alright, whatever works," Krystal followed Ellie and Dawna.

Once Krystal, Ellie and Dawna got back to Ellie's place, Mike, Billie and Tre were all laughing.

"What's so funny?" Ellie asked walking into the living room, and soon Krystal and Dawna followed behind.

"Nothing, where were you guys?" Mike asked.

"We went to the mall."

"I see. Did you spend my money again?" Billie asked Dawna.

"No, I didn't buy anything."

"Oh, while to bad for you. Anyways Mike, I think Dawna and I are gonna head home now. We'll see you later."

"Ok, well, I'll give you a call tomorrow."

"Alright," Billie walked out the door, as Dawna waved before closing the door behind her.

About a week later, Mike, Billie and Tre got back together to work on their CD.
When Mike came into the studio, he threw a magazine at Billie.

"What the hell?"

"Look at page 20."

"Why?"

"Why not?" with that, Billie opened the page to find a big picture of Dawna, Ellie and Krystal sitting down at a table in the mall. Under the picture, it said:

"While the guys of Green Day are working on a new CD, the women of Green Day are shopping away the neglect of their boyfriends."

"What kind of bullshit is this?" Billie closed the magazine.

"What?" Tre asked when he heard Billie.

"Read page 20 in this magazine, then you'll know," Billie slid the magazine to Tre.

"Oh I've already seen that, don't worry about it. You, me, and Mike know it's not true."

"I guess," Billie started to play his guitar.

A couple hours passed and it was about time to leave the studio. Tre had left a bit earlier than Billie and Mike 'cause he was gonna meet Krystal's parents. Billie was about to leave when he saw the magazine on the ground.

"Hey, Mike do you want this?" Billie asked.

"Ah, no I already showed Ellie."

"Ok while I'll see you later," Billie picked up the magazine.

Tre and Krystal

"Hey, it smells good down here," Tre walked into the kitchen.

"Thanks. Can you put the plates on the table?"

"Sure."

"Thanks, then come back I have more for you to do," Tre placed the plates on the table and went back into the kitchen.

"You've got wine out there."

"Yah, here can you please put the cups, forks, and knifes on the table as well."

"Ok," Tre did as he what Krystal asked, and went back into the kitchen. "Anything else?"

"No, I think that is it. Now we just have to wait for the roast to finish, and I'll bring out the food."

"This all looks great," Tre hugged Krystal.

"Thanks, so do you. Thanks for changing."

"No problem, you know you don't look that bad yourself," Tre kissed Krystal.

"Thanks, ok I have to talk something over with you."

"What's that?"

"Act good around my dad, please."

"Good?" Tre questioned.

"Uh, how can I put this, he's most likely gonna ask you a lot a questions dealing with our future."

"Well, I just tell him what I told you," Tre joked.

"No, my dad isn't the joking kind of person when it comes to me."

"Oh, when it comes to his baby girl?"

"Yah, I guess you could say that. However, I'm not kidding please just be serious for a few hours."

"Ok, but what's in it for me?" Tre joked.

"I don't know. What do you want?"

"I was kidding, don't worry. Everything is gonna be fine."

"I hope so."

"So do you need anymore help?" Tre asked, before he hared a knock at the door.

"You could go get the door."

"Aren't you coming out?"

"Yah, after I turn the stove down. Now go get the door."

"Alright," Tre got to the door and took a deep breath before opening the door. When he did, he seen an older looking man, and a short woman, with a dog.

"Hi there, Tre I presume."

"Yes," Tre shook the man's out reached hand.

"I'm Mr. Miller, but you can call me Ian, and this is my wife Sandy."

"Well, it's nice to meet you, come in."

Tre took the Millers jackets and hung them up in the closet before joining them in the living room.

"So Tre, is it?"

"Ya?"

"Where's Krystal?"

"In the kitchen, she should be coming out anytime soon."

"And where would the kitchen be?"

"Up the hall to the right."

"Thanks," Ian got up to find Krystal.

"So how are you today?" Sandy asked Tre.

"I'm good, how about you."

"Good, but Blackie is kinda sick today."

"The dog?" Tre said but was really thinking it looked like a big furry rat more then a dog.

"Yah, her name is Blackie, do you like dogs?"

"Ya, some dogs."

"Would you like to hold her?"

"Uh, sure."

Krystal had just left the kitchen to run into her dad.

"Hey kiddo."

"Hi dad, what are you doing? You didn't have to come find me I would have been out."

"That's ok," Krystal hugged her dad.

"So how's life?"

"Fine. How is mom doing?"

"The doctor said her condition is getting worse, and if it keeps going, I have to quit my job and look after her."

"So, sooner or later she'll forget about us."

"Maybe, it depends how bad it gets."

"I see," Krystal walked out into the living room and almost broke out laughing when she seen Tre with Blackie.

"Oh, hi Krys, how are you?"

"Good, how about you mom?"

"Fine, I hope you don't mind that I brought the dog."

"No, it's fine I haven't seen Blackie for a long time," Blackie jumped off Tre's lap when Krystal said her name. Krystal picked up the dog and sat next to Tre.

"So Krystal, your sister seen you in a magazine. It says Tre here is neglecting you. Is that true?" Ian asked Tre.

"No, not at all, I'd never neglect your daughter of anything."

"I hope that's true."

"It is dad, don't worry about it, and anyways are you guys hungry?"

"I am," Sandy said.

"Alright, well Tre will show you guys to the living room while I get the food," Krystal got up and left.

"Is it ok if I leave Blackie out here?" Sandy asked.

"Yah, I don't see why not."

"Ok," Sandy put Blackie on the couch and told her to stay.

"Ok, this way," Tre showed Ian and Sandy to the dinning room.

"Does it matter where we sit?"

"No, you can sit where ever you want," Tre answered Sandy.

"Alright."

"Tre?"

"Yes?"

"Where's that bathroom?"

"Down the hall we just walked up, and it will be the first door on the left."

"Alright thanks," Sandy left the table.

"So, Tre, now that it's just me and you together, I wanna ask you a few things."

After Tre heard Ian say that all he could hear in his head is Krystal voice telling him to act seriously around her dad. "Ok, what do you wanna know?"

"How did you afford this big house for one?"

"I'm in the band Green Day, I play drums."

"In a band, Tre your not in high school anymore. Do you think this band thing will last forever?"

"I'm hoping so. Do you mind me asking what your job is?"

"I'm a lawyer."

"Oh, that's pretty cool."

"Mhmm, anyways back to you. Do you ever plan to marry my daughter? Do you see any kind of future with her?"

"A future, yes and I guess I could see us getting married if everything turns out okay."

"Good answer."

"Anything else before I go to help Krystal?"

"No, that's all I have to ask you."

Tre was about to walk out of the dinning room to find Sandy looking in the closet.

"Sandy, the dinning room is over here."

"Oh sorry, I forgot where it was, thanks."

"No problem, don't worry about it," Tre went to the kitchen.

"Is everything ok out there?"

"Yeah."

"Then why are you in here?"

"To help you bring out the food."

"You didn't just get up and leave did you?"

"No, I asked you dad if he had any more questions for me before I went to help you."

"What he ask you?"

"I'll tell you later. Here can I take this out?" Tre picked up the mashed potatoes.

"Yea and take the gravy, and I'll bring out the roast."

"Alright," Tre held the door open with his foot so Krystal could get out of the kitchen.

Once in the living Tre placed his food on the table after Krystal, and pulled her chair out for her.

"Thanks."

"No problem," Tre sat down beside Krystal and Sandy.

"This looks great, honey."

"Thanks, dad."

After everyone was done eating, Krystal took the plates form everyone.

"Krystal, that was great I can't wait 'til desert," Ian said.

"Yeah, desert," Krystal started to panic, and Tre noticed.

"Sandy, can I take your plate?" Tre asked.

"Sure," Tre took a couple more things off the table and went into the kitchen with Krystal.

"Tre, I didn't make desert."

"I know I could tell, here gave me those plates and go look in the refrigerator."

"Why."

"Just do it."

"Fine," Krystal handed Tre the plates, and opened the refrigerator to find pie on the first shelf.

"Oh my God, you are a lifesaver. How'd you know to get a pie?"

"I don't know, I figured you'd forget to do something."

"Oh, thanks."

"I'm joking."

"Ok, what kind is it?"

"It's apple pie."

"Thank God, that's my dad's favorite."

"Well, you know I do listen to you talk, I'm not just staring at your boobs," Tre joked.

"Sometimes I wonder. Here takes these plates and forks out with you I'll be right with pie once I warm it up a bit."

Billie, and Dawna

"So, you know that your picture is in a magazine?" Billie put away the clean plates.

"Is it now? I didn't know that."

"Yeah the magazine is on the coffee table," Billie walked out to the living room.

"What's it a picture of?" Dawna sat down on the couch beside Billie.

"Here look at page 20," Billie handed Dawna the magazine. Dawna turned to the page and read what it said.

"I thought you didn't buy anything," Billie pointed at the shopping bags in the picture.

"I didn't."

"Sure, doesn't look like that in the picture."

"Billie we didn't."

"Uh, ok."

"That stuff in that picture is from the table beside us, why would I lie about buying things."

"I don't know."

"What's goin on with you?"

"What do you mean?" Billie took the magazine from Dawna.

"Why do you think I was lying to you?"

"I don't know, just forget about it."

"No, everything was fine with you and me until you started to play your music again. What's going on?"

"Dawna, I told you to drop it!"

"No Billie, what's going on? Are you cheating on me?"

"Yes, I am. Yes, I am Dawna, is that what you wanna hear?" Billie said sarcastically.

"No."

"And just to let you know, the person who asks if someone is cheating is the most likely the one cheating."

"So what now, you're saying that I'm cheating on you."

"I don't know, are you?"

"Ah, no."

"You better hope so, and I'm telling you now if I was with any girl who wasn't you people would be all over it, taking pictures and making stuff up, and the same will go with you. So, if you ever cheat on me, I will know eventually."

"So, you'd jump to conclusions."

"Just like you would, and I'm sure it would be true with you."

"So you're saying you'd never cheat on me."

"Nope."

"Not with some prettier younger woman?"

"Ah, again no."

"Well, I'll hold you to that."

"Good. Anyways let's just forget about this."

"No wait, do you really think that I would cheat on you?" Dawna looked into Billie's eyes.

"Well, before you left me no I never though you would cheat on me. However, I also did think you would leave me over something so stupid. So, right now there's no doubt in my mind that you would cheat on me."

"Alright, I guess that's a fair answer."

Tre, and Krystal

"Well, Tre it's been nice meeting you, and thanks Krys for a great dinner," Sandy hugged Tre and Krystal good bye.

"Yes, it was a great dinner. I should drop by more often," Krystal hugged her dad.

"Oh, and yes Tre, it was a pleasure meeting you, take care of my daughter while I'm gone."

"Will do," Tre shook Ian's hand.

When the Millers car drove off, Krystal and Tre waved good bye before closing the door.

"Well, that didn't go to bad, did it?" Tre asked Krystal.

"No, and I'm ready for bed."

"Same," Tre locked the door, shut off the lights and went to join Krystal upstairs.

"So, what do you think about them?" Krystal asked once Tre got in bed.

"Your mom is nice, and your dad, I don't know, and what was with the dog."

"Blackie was my dog, 'til I moved to my apartment."

"Why didn't you take her with you?"

"We weren't aloud animals."

"Oh, I see. So will I ever meet your sister?"

"My sister, no you won't."

"Why not?"

"Cause she's just like me and but better looking, and she'd try to steal you
away," Krystal joked.

"That wouldn't happen, but now that you mentioned it."

"Oh, shut up. No, I guess if we got married you'd meet her, but she's to far away to just come over for dinner."
"Well, if you want she could stay a few days in the guest room."

"No, she wouldn't wanna take time off her job."

"What she work as?"

"A lawyer."

"Jut like daddy," Tre joked.

"Basically. Anyways what did my dad ask you?"

"Well, he asked how I could afford this big house, and I told him I was in a band."

"What he say to that?"

"That I wasn't in high school anymore."

"Sounds like dad."

"Then he asked if I see myself getting married to you, and I told him, I could see it happening if everything works out."

"Anything else?"

"No, then I left to find your mom looking in the closet."

"Yeah, mom is, she's starting to forget things now a days."

"Oh, while anyways I told her the dinning room was and she said sorry."

"And?"

"I told her not to worry about it, and I came to help you."

"Well, you did awesome today, thanks so much," Krystal kissed Tre.

"No problem, I'm guessing you though I couldn't do it."

"Yea, kinda, I guess."

"Well, you were wrong."

"I guess so, so what does that mean I have to do for you now."

"Nothing I was only joking, unless," Tre kissed Krystal.

"Unless," Krystal smiled and kissed Tre back.

Mike, and Ellie

"Ha, that movie was great," Ellie opened the door.

"Yah, it was, I didn't really expect it to be that good."

"Yah, see you should listen to me more often," Ellie joked.

"I guess so."

"Hey do you need the bathroom?" Ellie asked Mike.

"No why?"

"Cause I'm going for a shower, then I'm heading to bed."

"Alright, then I'll be waiting for you."

"I'm sure you will be," Ellie locked the bathroom door behind her. Not too much later, Mike came and knocked on the bathroom door.

"What's taking you so long?"

"I am brushing my teeth, you can wait."

"Well."

"Well nothing," Ellie opened the bathroom door.

"It's about time."

"It's about time nothing, I haven't even been 10 minutes. Now move out of my way so I can get dressed."

"Or, you could just stay in the towel."

"Or I'm cold, and I wanna get dressed."

"Fine," Mike kissed Ellie before he moved out of her way.

Once Mike came back in the room, he found Ellie asleep in bed. Mike placed his glass of water on the end table and tried to get into bed with out waking Ellie. But it didn't work out too well.

"Uh, Mike," Ellie mumbled.

"Ya?"

"I love you."

"Love you, too," Mike kissed Ellie on the forehead.

Tre, and Krystal

Tre and Krystal were interrupted when the phone rang.

"Hold on, I should get that."

"No, who ever calling at this time is crazy, just let them leave a message."

"No," Krystal picked up the phone.

"Hello."

"Hey Krystal its dad, sorry t bug you at this time, but your mother forgot Blackie's
leash on the couch, and needs it for her in the morning; would you mind if I came down to get it tonight?"

"Uh."

"What?"

"Hold on," Krystal coved the phone with her hand. "Stop Tre, it's my dad."

"What does he want?"

"Come back to get Blackie's leash."

"Ok," Tre got up and put a t-shirt on and boxers.

"Alright dad."

"So, is it ok if I come down now to get it?"

"Sure is."

"Thanks, and again I'm sorry."

"Don't worry about it."

"Ok, well, I'm leaving now. Bye."

"Bye," Krystal hung up the phone.

"Here, I'll go down and wait for him. Do you want me to bring you up anything?"

"No."

"Ok," Tre went down stairs not to much later Krystal came down as well.

"He come yet?"

"No."

"So, where was the leash?"

"Under the couch."

"Oh."

"You know, you could go back to bed, you do look tried."

"No, I'm fine," Krystal laid down on the couch, and was almost asleep when someone knocked at the door.

"That's him," Krystal sat up.

"Yeah," Tre got up to answer the door while Krystal followed behind him.

"Hi," was the first thing Krystal said when Tre opened the door.

"Hi. Honey, you look tried, you should go to bed."

"No, I'm fine," Krystal walked into the living room.

"So, did you find the leash?" Ian asked Tre.

"Sure did," Tre handed Ian the leash.

"Thanks, and I'm sorry for waking you guys up."

"Oh, don't worry about it."

"Alright, well I'll talk to you guys later."

"Yeah."

"Bye."

"Bye," Tre closed the door. "Ready for bed now?" Tre walked into the living room
to find Krystal sleeping on the couch. Instead of waking her up, he picked her up and put her to bed. Not to much later Krystal woke up.

"How'd I get in bed?"

"I brought you up now go to sleep," Tre yawned.

"Muh, ok," Krystal put her head on Tre's chest and fell asleep. Tre kissed Krystal and hugged her closer before he fell asleep as well.
