What Happened Before September Ended?, chapter 3

It had been almost a month since Jimmy and Charlie had first started going out. Pete stayed at his and Sarah's house almost every night. Sarah counted everyday she still had with Pete. Of all the things, she wished she could just sleep September away. And the next year and a half after that. Even Jimmy, who seemed so down to earth all the time, had suddenly grown fidgety. The foursome spent every day they could together, except Sunday, in which, Jimmy went to church (he was trying to built up his religion). Charlie ignored the fact that the time grew near. She felt in her heart it was the best thing to do.

"Hey guys," Jimmy said, walking towards the picnic table they were all sitting at after Sunday morning mass. He was dressed quite fancy again. With a pair of black slacks, a white button down, and a black tie. Come to think of it, as quite similar to the outfit Charlie saw him wear the day she met him.
"Jimmy!" she yelled, jumping into his arms to greet him.
"Hey little buddy, you'll turn into an old man if you carry her around like that," Pete pointed out as Jimmy approached Pete and Sarah, holding Charlie in his arms.
"Pete, I wouldn't be calling me and old man, you're the one who's having a kid and making your poor parents grandparents at the youthful age of thirty-nine. Have you considered that fact before calling me...old?"
Sarah giggled and licked the ice cream she had in her hand.
"What, you're taking his side? Fine..." said Pete, taking the strawberry shortcake ice cream from her hand and licking it.
"Pete, I'm not picking sides..." Sarah grabbed the ice cream and hit it playfully against Pete's nose, making it pink.
"I dare you to lick it off," Charlie said, jumping down from Jimmy's arms. Seconds later, Sarah kissed Pete's nose playfully, removing the ice cream.

"You guys are like the turtle doves of turtle doves or something," Jimmy pulled on his collar jokingly.
"Oh...and you're not, lover boy, I'd be careful, you're the one dating my sister..." Pete said as he pretended to take a swing for Jimmy's head.
"Uh-huh. And guess what," Jimmy bear hugged Charlie, "I love her!" and he shouted it loud enough so that every one in the park stared at him.
"What? You're just jealous that my girlfriend is perdier than yours!"
"Jimmy, shhh! You're gonna get us in trouble..." Charlotte said, bringing her fingers to his lips.
"Oh my god, you told me to be quiet...you shushed me! Ah-ha! That's it, I'm taking you away!" and he picked her up again and started to carry her away.
"Jimbo, make sure she's home by curfew, mom will blame me if she isn't!"
"Yea, yea," He said and threw her in the front seat of his rusty green Plymouth. "Jimmy...where are we going?"
Jimmy just closed the door and went around the other end of the car, smirking.
"You'll see." He put the key in the ignition and the engine started. Charlie sat up and put her seatbelt on.

Fifteen minutes later, Charlie began to see big, grassy hills along the countryside. "Jimmy, you did hear what Pete said, I gotta be home by curfew, or else we'll both be in trouble."
Jimmy shook his head.
"You're nineteen and a half and you still have a curfew, you don't even have to be living in there!"
She smirked.
"You're twenty and you still live with your parents..."
Charlie's voice trailed off and Jimmy turned down a side road.
"Jimmy, where we going? You're sorta... scaring me now." She looked out the window at the tall grass surrounding the small road.
"What? Oh...no, it's okay, don't worry, we're almost there."
He noticed the expression on her face. She did look scared.
"Listen, Charlie bear, nothing's gonna happen, relax." And he turned his head from the road for a second, just to kiss her on the cheek. She nodded, though the expression on her face did not change. He drove a little faster and turned into the driveway of a small house.

"Jim, whose house is this?"
Jimmy got out of the car and opened her door.
"Common. I got a suprise for you."
She cautiously took his hand and stepped out of the car, approached the house and stuck next to Jimmy. He pulled a key out of his pocket and opened the door, directing her inwards.

She looked around the house, each room leading to another. After observing that the house was completely deserted, but still had furnishings in it, she stood in the middle, looking at Jimmy, still in the doorway smirking.
"Jimmy, whose house are we in?" she asked again.
He closed the door and came closer to her, and whispered in her ear, "It's ours."
She stood, wide eyed, a million thoughts, swimming through her head.
"But... what about my parents? I asked them already. They thought it was okay. Well, except for the fact it was so bloody far away."
He got worried. He thought this would all turn out so well, maybe she didn't love him the way he loved her. She bit her lip, and pondered at the thought.
"Jimmy Anders Hubert, are you asking me to move in with you?" The worried look she had turning into a small smirk.
"Maybe..." he said. "I know it hasn't been that long... but, ya know?"
She hugged him. "Just let me talk to my parents first, okay?"
"Yes!" He said, picking her up and spinning her around in circles.

"We should get going. Or else we're gonna get in trouble," Charlie asked wiggling from his grip.
"Right..." He said looking down at his watch, reaching in his pocket for his keys with the other. He tossed them to her.
"You can drive." She glanced down at them.
"You trust me enough to drive your car?"
He chuckled. "I trust you enough to live in the same house as me don't I?" She nodded.

With directions, and a little help, Charlie made it to her parents' house in one piece. Both her and Jimmy walked through the door, hand in hand, singing some weird song they had heard on the radio.
After a long discussion with Jimmy and her parents, Charlotte decided she would move in with Jimmy. The next day her parents would help her move her things there. Even though, by the end of the conversation, her mother was in tears because she was yet to lose another child.
