What Happened Before September Ended?, chapter 7

It was 12: 29 am. Charlie slowly listened to the tick-tock anouncing every second arriving closer to 12: 30. She only wished she'd fall asleep, and enter a dream world where none of this even existed. Maybe she could wake up after September ended, maybe she'd be used to it then, or maybe she'd wake up when all this was over. Continuously listening to the clock, Charlie could hear small ruffling sounds from the bedroom, she got up, and tip-toed toward the door. She remembered the time her and Jimmy had woken Pete and Sarah up with the blow horns.
She creeked open the door to hear almost silent sobs. "Sarah? Are you okay?" she asked, approaching the bed. Sarah turned over to face Charlie and whiped her swollen face.
"Oh Charlotte, it's you... can't you sleep?" Charlie shook her head and sat on the side of the bed.
"Do you think their okay?" Charlie whispered, bringing tears to her eyes.
"I don't know," Sarah said, moving over so Charlie could lay down. I was quiet for a while and as Charlie looked up at the textured ceiling.
"Do you think they're there yet?" She asked quietly.
"I don't know. Maybe, they didn't have to travel to far... they were going half of the way by helicopter." Charlie didn't know that. If they were there already, she might be able to track them down, and then... she could go get them!
"Sarah!" she yelled, as her bright idea popped into her head, making Sarah jump.
"What?"
"Sarah, I could go get them, I know how!" she said excitedly, jumping up from the bed.
"No... Charlie, you can't. No..." She said, even though she thought dearly that maybe, Charlie was right.
"Yes, Sarah, I can, and I will. I just need a damn computer!" So she grabbed her sweater, slipped on her shoes, grabbed her brother's keys, and drove off into the night.

She knocked visciously at Marcia and David's front door.
"Common you guys. answer the door!" Soon, a very sleepy Marcia (her best friend since kindergarden) and her older brother David (who was Pete's age) apeared in the doorway.
"Charlie, what are you doing here so late, my parent's are gonna kill you!" Marcia said, about to slam the door in her face, but widened it, seeing the plea in Charlie's eyes. Charlie turned to David, "I need you're help."

By dawn, Charlie found out all the information she needed to know. She packed a small bag of supplies, said goodbye to Sarah, who wished her luck, and walked into the harbor. She appeared by the health helicopter, which was the fastest, and most often vehicle going out. She told the driver that Jimmy had medical problems, which Jimmy had failed to mention to the officers, and he let her on. She told him exactly where she wanted to go and looked out the window as the helicopter lifted up into the air and over the water, there was no turning back now...
