What Happened Before September Ended?, chapter 9
<p>Pulling in the driveway of Pete and Sarah's house, Charlie could see Sarah standing in the doorway. She was still trying to figure out how to tell her about Pete. She shook Jimmy, who was snorelessly sleeping in the passenger seat. <br />"We're here..." she said as she pulled the keys out of the ignition. Jimmy groaned and scratched his head. The horrid sound of gunshots still echoed through his head as he remembered the first man who was shot to the ground. It mad him wonder if maybe that man had a family at home, a life he was leaving behind. He wished more than anything that Pete wouldn't end up like that man. Because, he would be leaving a very closely tied family and a very large life.</p>
<p>"Jimmy... how am I going to tell her?" Charlie asked, tearfully, making Jimmy snap back into reality. <br />"I... I don't know." he said, as they opened the doors in unison and slowly dragged themselves towards Sarah.<br /> "He... didn't come." Charlie said, grasping tightly onto Jimmy's hand. Sarah already knew. Pete was stuborn, he wasn't going to come home. She thought she shouldn't had even hoped in the first place... it was just a waste of her time. </p>
<p> Charlie thought Sarah woould have cried... shown some sort of emotion. But she only looked blankly at the floor and walked away. <br />"This sucks..." Jimmy said, hugging Charlie in the doorway. <br />"Yup..." she replied.</p>

<p>Snugged tightly on the couch, with Jimmy's arm around her waist and his quiet breathing comforting her, Charlie could hear ruffled sounds comming from down the hall.<br /> "Jimmy," she whispered, " wake up, can you her that?" he did the same thing he did everytime we woke up, listened carefully and replied,<br /> "Yea... holy crap." and they both jumped up from the couch and quickly, but quietly, ran down the hallway and violently pushed open the bedroom door. <br />"Sarah, you okay?' Charlie said rather loudly than she should have and they both looked into Sarah's alarmed eyes.</p>
<p> Jimmy got a sick feeling in his stomach when he knew what was happening. Pete was supposed to be here! He thought, as he grabbed the car keys and opened the door for the two girls. Driving faster than he should have been, Jimmy finally arrived at the hospital, helping Charlie get Sarah from the back seat. He grabbed her a wheelchair while Charlie phoned her parents, along with Sarah's. </p>

<p> After half an hour of sitting in the waiting room with Jimmy, her father, and Sarah's father, Charlie started to get ansy. Charlie was waiting patiently when her cellphone rang. She forgot it was in her pocket and pulled it out. <br />"One minute please." she told the crowd and walked away from everyone. <br />"Hello?" she answered the annoying ringing sound. <br />"Charlie? Where is everyone? Theres no one at Mom's house theres no one at my house... what's going on?" Pete yelled worriedly into the phone. <br />"Pete... you came back? When? Where are you? What?" <br />"Charlie... just answer the question...please!" then, snapping into reality, she said.<br /> "Pete... get your butt down to the hospital now, Sarah's having the baby." The line went dead... and she knew he was comming. She jumped into Jimmy's lap and hugged him tightly, "He came back!" Dumbfounded... all Jimmy did was smile.<br /> "Awsome." was all he could say. He was happy that now he could stop worrying.</p>

<p>"Pete!" Charlie yelled.<br /> "Where is she?" he asked. Charlie pointed at the door, and Pete entered it. Charlie smiled at Jimmy, who just smiled back at the overjoyed voices they heard from the other side of the door.</p>
