The Boys Next Door, chapter 5

"Come on, pick up the phone," Stephanie said to herself.

"Hello?" said a voice on the other end of the phone.

"Jimmy?? Hi, it's Steph. Is Maddie home??"

"Ya she's right next to me hold on," said Madison's younger brother, Jimmy. "MAADDDIIIISSSOOOONNN!!!! TTEELLLEEEPPHHOOOONNNEEE!!! IIIITTT'SSS SSSTTTEEEEPPPHHHAAANNNIIIIEEEE!!!"

"OH MY GOD!! DO YOU HAVE TO YELL!?!?!" Madison screamed, grabbing the cordless phone out of his hands.

"Hi, Steph. Ugh.. I hate my brother. He's only five months younger than me, but he acts like he's five YEARS younger," Maddie said rolling her eyes while Jimmy stuck out his tongue.

"Okay, lets do three way with Hilary, I have something really important to tell you," Stephanie said excitedly," Hold on."

"Kay."

Few Minutes Later

"Okay, now that you all are here, I gotta tell you something," Stephanie began.

"Yup, we're listening..." Hilary said.

"Well, the people upstairs moved in today and well...OH CRAP I'M GONNA BE LATE!!" Steph yelled as she looked at her watch, " I CAN'T BE LATE!! NOT TONIGHT!!"

"Late for what??" Maddie and Hilary said together.

"Well lets just say, I'm going to be able to play the drums soon," Stephanie replied.

"YOU WHAT!?!?!? OH MY GOD!! STEHPAN--" Hilary and Madison were cut off by the sound of Steph hanging up.

"Damn... wait... did she say who's giving her drum lessons??" Hilary asked.

"Nope... Ha ha, maybe it's some really cute guy that lives upstairs from Stephanie that offered to teach her when they were walking to the store to get milk," Maddie said laughing. There was a short silence.

"Naaah," said the two girls in unison.

-6:01pm-

One minute late... that's not bad... I can wait... Tre thought. It was only 6:01 and he was already worried that she wouldn't come, but why? They had just met, he couldn't possibly like her... well that's what Tre kept on telling himself.

-6:05pm-

Okay... five minutes late... Tre sat there on the basement floor, glancing at his watch every minute. Don't worry Tre, she'll come... oh pft, who am I kidding, she's not coming. Tre thought. He didn't want this to happen, not again. Not after what had happened earlyer in the summer...

Flash Back (Last Day Of School)

"Hey, Tre, we still on for tonight?" Gabryel asked as the two walked out of the class.

"Yupp, see you at my house, Gabz," Tre said.

"Kay," Gabryel said with a smile. As excited as Tre was, he never realized that that was the last time he would see his precious, first girl friend, Gabryel.

Later That Evening

"Okay Gabz, where are you..??" Tre asked himself. Hmmm... maybe she's sick. She didn't look to good at school. Tre got off of the couch, grabbed his coat and blue converse shoes, and left the house. He walked a couple blocks until he got to Gabryel's house. Walking up to the front door, Tre noticed that it was already open, so he walked inside.

"Gabz??" he said. There was no answer. He walked up the stairs and towards Gabryel's room. That's when he heard some faint whispers.

"Weren't you supposed to go to Tre's house tonight??" asked a voice.

"I was?? Oops. Well I'd rather be here with you," Gabryel said. Oh my god. Gaby?? She cant be...but she is... Tre leaned against the door, listening to every word.

"I love you Gabryel," said the voice.

"I love you too... Jason." Jason...JASON WHITE!! I KNEW I RECONIZED THAT VOICE!! OH MY GOD THAT BITCH!! I've known him since pre school... we weren't exactly "best friends" but still... even if I didn't know him... arg.. this is bad... That's all Tre could think of. That this was all bad. Holding back his tears, he ran out of Gabyrel's house and dashed home.

-MSN

Gabz- Tre, why wont you talk to me?? You know I miss you. I'm sorry I didn't go to your house last night... I was sick.

TreCool- Gabryel.

Gabz- Yes??

TreCool- I never want to talk to you again. -Appears Offline-

End Of Flash Back

Tre began to cry. He loved Gabryel so much. She was his first girl friend. You know, the one person that your never supposed to forget because they were the first one. But she broke his heart. Now Tre was stuck with that memory for the rest of his life. His first girl friend: A Bitch.
Getting up off the floor, Tre walked towards the stairs. As he reached the top of the stair case, he heard a knock from the basement door. Opening the door, Stephanie poped her head through.

"Uh, Tre?? You here??"

Wiping his tear-stained face, Tre answered, "Uh ya, come on up."

"Woah!! Is that your drum set??" Stephanie asked in amasement.

"Yup, it is."

2 Hours Later

"Thanks for the lesson Tre," Steph said as they walked to the bottem of the basement stairs.

"No problem." It was silent for about a minute. All Tre could think about was how much fun he had with Stephanie. They had so much in common. But the one thing that he noticed about Steph was that she had talent. Even though she could barely play the drums, Tre saw the little, hyperacttive drummer inside of her. Oh my god, I think I do like her... As Tre came to reality, he looked at Stephanie.

Wow... his eyes are so... blue... Stephanie thought. Then the two leaned in toward each other, coming closer and closer when..........

"SSSSTTTEEEEPPPHHHHAAANNNNIIIIEEE!!!! DINNER!!!" screamed Joann.

Dammit... Stephanie and Tre thought.

"Well... Uh... I gotta go... Bye Tre," Steph managed to say.

"Bye," Tre said dissapointed. While heading towards the stairs, Tre felt someone pull on his arm. As he turned around, Stephanie leaned in and kissed him.

"Bye Tre," Stephanie said again with a smile.

"Bye Steph," Tre said, smilling back. At that moment, Tre finally let go of all the pain and sorrow from the beginning of the summer and finally let himself move on. He liked Stephanie, and nothing was going to change his mind.
