Mikes Determination, chapter 13
"Whhhat do you mean?" Joey stuttered.
"Died last night. Total kidney failure. Couldn't save her," The doctor explained.
"Ex... Excuse me," Joey broke, rushing to the nearby toilet and slamming the door behind him. There he broke down crying. And it stayed like that for the next 30 minutes.
"I have to tell Mike... oh great, this is exactly how things are meant to turn out, isn't it! She's not meant to die!!" Joey exclaimed silently. Everything was a blur. A million thoughts were screaming at him, and a million ways to tell Mike were also lurking around in there.

"Excuse me, mister, wake up," Someone whispered into Billie Joe's ear- he opened his eyes. The familiar surroundings of the people in the plane came back to mind.
"What???" He groaned.
"We have reached your destination," The voice said.
"Destination my cunt. No wait... ASS. I meant ASS," Billie Joe mumbled. He glanced up at the person who was talking to him- a flight attendant. She was looking in disgust at him. That's when he realised- he was still naked.
"Excuse mee... " He smiled embarrassingly, grabbing his bag and sneaking back off the toilets.
About an hour later, he had finally gained the courage to display himself fully clothed to the people that he had just flashed to not so long ago. Sure, he'd done it 2000 times before on stage, but this was different. These were serious adults that didn't necessarily appreciate his nudity. Except a few of them. He stepped out slowly and...
The plane was basically empty.
"Huh? Where is everyone?" He asked himself aloud.
"This is Adelaide," The flight attendant from before advised.
Billie's face lit up in awe, shock, surprise, and anything and everything in between. He ran over to the window and smiled a smile of relief- he finally had realised that it was time to start over new- he was starting to like the whole live-in-Adelaide idea.
Slowly he made his way off the plane, and into his new life. Everything was... different. And these thongs were getting uncomfortable. But they were an Australian brand; people's feet might feel differently. It was a weird thought, but it may be true.

"Here I go. It's up to me," Joey sighed under his breath, stepping out bravely, trying hard to stand up straight. His hair was shagging over his face to hide his puffed up, bloodshot eyes.
"Mikey?" He asked, tapping Mike on the shoulder as he approached him from behind.
"Yeah?" Mike nicely questioned, his now-smiling face glaring back up at Joey.
"Can you come over here for a second?" Joey instructed. Mike nodded and got up to stand next to him.
"It's about Michelle," Joey started, "She... "
Joey bit his lip. Mike stared deeper into him.
"She died last night," He finally blurted, feeling good and bad to get those 4 words out of his system.
"She... died?" Mike questioned, not believing what Joey was saying.
"Yes," Joey nodded. There was silence, before Joey broke out crying again. He leaned himself against Mike's tall and thin, but comfortable body.
"She died before I had the chance to say goodbye," He sobbed.
"It's okay, Joey," Mike comforted... or at least tried to.
"What do you mean?! Nothing's okay!! And dad isn't even here to help me!" Joey exclaimed from the midst of Mike's damp-with-tears shirt. Mike shook his head slightly- how could Billie do this to them?
"Mikey, we have to go find dad," Joey insisted.
"I'll take care of Tre," Adrienne added. She wasn't facing them, but it was obvious she was upset.

"Where to go first," Billie Joe wondered. Everything around him was so different. Immediately after he had said that, his brand new cell phone rang.
"Helllo?" He spoke into the receiver.
"HI. It's Mike. Congratulations. Michelle just died last night. And now Joey's on the road to a complete breakdown. And you're not here to help him," Mike snapped, before hanging up again.
Billie Joe sighed and shrugged, before continuing to walk.

*The day of the funeral*
"I DON'T BELIEVE IT! I just don't believe it," Joey thought to himself, wiping away some of the many tears in his eyes.
"Okay, are you ready for your speech?" Mike asked him. Joey shook his head- he couldn't. He just couldn't. Mike held his hand out, gesturing for Joey to hand over the piece of paper that had the speech on it. Joey reached into his pocket and pulled it out, handing it over to Mike. Slowly he got up and made his way to the altar.
"This is written in the accord of my good friend, Joey," He began, "Michelle was a great friend, a great artist and a great lean of support. With everything I did, she was behind me, chasing me up to check if I was happy. She stood by me all my life, and it's very hard to do that. For that, I thank her. She left us tragically, leaving some great memories behind, which will stick with me forever. Let this be a lesson. Don't take your friendships for granted. One day they're there, the next day you may find they're gone. Don't let society get in your way- stand by each other, like Michelle did for me. Rest in peace Michelle, you'll be missed."
Joey was crying like crazy, his eyes stung from all of it. Mike felt a lump in his throat as he walked down the altar's steps.

Billie Joe held his nose as he entered a very un-orderly hotel. But it would have to do. There was no where else to stay. He didn't have hardly any money on him, because he had left Cali with nothing. He didn't even have the money for a trip back home- he'd bought a 1 way ticket, he never thought he'd be turning back.

The ceremony at the cemetery had ended, and everyone had left except for Mike and Joey. They sat upon Michelle space in the gigantic place. They sat silently and read the words. They stopped and reflected on the small poem Joey had written the day before, which was now engraved in the tombstone which would stand forever.-
'The memories won't go away,
They'll stick with me forever.
It's just I never had the chance to let you know,
You'll always be remembered.'
'Let this be a lesson. Don't take your friendships for granted. One day they're there, the next day you may find they're gone. Don't let society get in your way- stand by each other,'- Just don't. Mark my words, my friends mean the world to me, I bet yours do too.
