So This Is Love?, chapter 1
Another boring day at Pinole Valley High. Seventeen year old Billie Joe Armstrong thought to himself as he walked off the bus and made his way toward the front entrance of the school. He walked through one of the large doors, into the main courtyard, out another set of doors that led to a hallway, and over to the big shady tree behind the gym where he met his friends everyday. As always, Mike Dirnt, his best friend and fellow band member, and Adrienne Nesser, his current girlfriend, were there waiting for him. Adie stood up to give Billie a quick peck on the lips, and then they both joined Mike under the tree. Minutes later they saw Tre Cool, the youngest of the three and also a band member, walking towards them. He wasn't looking directly at them, but rather surveying the world around him, completely oblivious to the fact that Mike's bookbag was laying on the ground about a foot in front of him.
"Tre watch ou--!" Billie went to say, but before he got the last word out Tre had already gotten his right foot caught in the bookbag strap and was pummeling towards the ground. He lay there for a few seconds not moving or making a sound.
"Fuck me blind." Tre said getting up and wiping the dirt off of his pants and shirt. "That's what? The fifth time this week that that's happened?"
"Yea, and it's only Tuesday." Adie said laughing. She turned her back to look at Billie and Tre flicked her off, just as the bell rang. They all stood up, with the exception of Tre who was already standing up, and began walking towards the doors that led back to the hallway.
"Tre and I have fuckin' P.E. now." said Mike, as if Billie didn't know this already. He groaned as he waved goodbye to Billie and Adie, and he and Tre went down the small hallway leading to the boy's locker room that branched off from the main one they were in. Mike hated P.E. In fact, Billie thought, Mike doesn't really like any of his classes.
"You can go to class Billie." Adie said, knocking him out of his trance.
"Huh? What? No it's ok." He replied.
"It's on the opposite side of the school from your's."
"I'll be there on time." Billie said. But by the time he got Adie to her class the two minute bell had rang. He bolted across the courtyard and into the hallway nearest the main office, just a few doors ahead of his Calculus class. He ran as fast as he could and was paying absolutely no attention to anything but getting to class on time, when all of a sudden his body collided with something, or someone rather. He heard the slamming of several books on the floor and a small gasp. He brushed himself off and went to say something along the lines of Watch where the fuck you're going next time asshole! , when something made him look up.
"Holy shit I'm so sorry." he said.
"Tre watch ou--!" Billie went to say, but before he got the last word out Tre had already gotten his right foot caught in the bookbag strap and was pummeling towards the ground. He lay there for a few seconds not moving or making a sound.
