So This Is Love?, chapter 5
Billie put his other arm underneath Rio's legs and picked her up. She was tiny so it proved no problem lifting her into her bed. She stirred and looked at him, her striking blue eyes filled with a terrible sadness.
"Billie?" She said forcing out a smile.
"Don't tell anyone ok?"
"I promise." he said as she closed her eyes and fell asleep again. He pulled the blankets up to her chin and stood there for a moment looking at her. For a brief moment a picture of Adie flashed through his mind and he walked out of the room, pausing only for a second to write her a little note.

Rio didn't go to school the next day, nor did she go for the rest of the week. Only Billie and Austin, and of course her teachers, knew what had happened and they were all told not to say anything. Rio didn't want people feeling sorry for her, or being known as "the girl whose dad died."
"Where's Rio been?" Mike asked on Thursday during lunch. "I mean is she ok?"
"Man I'm thirsty." Billie said, changing the subject and shooting Austin a look. "Tre wanna come with me to the vending machines? I'll buy you a soda." Tre shrugged and walked off with Billie, leaving Adie, Mike and Austin.
"Gosh I hope she's ok." Mike said again after a few minutes passed. "I mean I really liked her. She seemed to fit in ya know?"
"Yea she's ok. She just had some sort of...er...family emergency." Austin said not sounding very convincing.
"I personally don't like her." Adie said staring at her fingernails. "She seems like a total snob and acts like she's better then us." Just then Billie and Tre came walking up, Gatorade in hand as Adie continued.
"She's kind of a bitch. I personally wouldn't care if she never came back. I don't like her." Of course you don't. She's prettier and sweeter then you'll ever be. Billie thought hearing this. It really made him angry and fired up.
"Jesus Adie do you fucking like anyone?" he said getting defensive.
"I like plenty of people. Just not bitchy, stuck up sluts." Billie clenched his fist.
"Adrienne Nesser you are a cold hearted bitch!." he said.
"I fucking agree!." Austin said chiming in. "She's my friend. More of a friend you've ever been to me. C'mon guys." She grabbed Mike and Tre and walked off. Billie took one look at Adie and took off after Mike, Tre and Austin. They all walked to Austin's car.
"Where we going?" Billie asked.
"To Rio's." she answered. "Mike, Tre...Ree's dad died. I wasn't supposed to tell anyone but you'll find out when we go over there anyhow so whatever." Tre and Mike grimaced then got in the car and drove off to see Rio. Her mom wasn't home so it was easy for them to get inside without being questioned. Upon seeing Rio, who was still pajama clad, her hair in a ponytail, Austin burst into tears and hugged her.
"Ree are you ok?"
"Yea as good as I can be. I'm coming back to school on Monday." Austin squealed and jumped up and down.
"Come in you guys. Where's Adie?" she asked. Billie felt a pang of guilt but not for Adie.
"Adie's a bitch and she hates both you and I." Austin said bluntly. Rio shrugged.
"I figured as much." Was all she said. "So what are you guys doing here?"
"Well we want you to go to the party tomorrow night still." Austin said. She clearly knew exactly what she was here for.
"My dad just died. I don't want to go to a party." Austin and Tre gave her the most pathetic look ever. She rolled her eyes and looked at Billie, who seemed to look more then a little disappointed too.
"I guess if my mom says it'll be good for me to get out. But not for long." Tre rand up and gave her a hug and a wet, sloppy kiss on the cheek.
"Yay!!! Ree's going to the party!!!" he shouted.
"Well we better be going. We only have 5 minutes until 5th period." Austin said. She gave her a hug, as did Tre, and Billie gave her a little wave. It wasn't until they were gone that she realized that Billie hadn't said a word to her.
