Wicked Times, chapter 10

I felt a warm hand entangled in mine.

I heard a soft, rusty voice say, "Billie she's up."

I opened my eyes slowly. I saw Mike and Billie Joe sitting in some awful uncomfortable blue hospital chairs. I knew they were hospital chairs. The memory of my brother in the hospital came back to me. I took a breath of air. The air smelled of medication and staleness, just what any hospital smelled like. I looked at the bed. I was covered in some thin white blankets. I saw Billie's hand in mine. I looked past Billie and saw a window. The view outside was of a parking lot and blue sky. How nice, huh?

I asked, "Where's Tre?"

I heard a voice say, "Hey sleepy head! They couldn't drug you up enough to stay down, could they?"

I smiled a little, even though it hurt. I yelled, "TRE!"

An old, bitter nurse came in and sternly said, "Quiet down!"
After warning us she left the room.

When I was sure she couldn't hear me. I mumbled, "Hag."

Billie and Mike started to laugh.

Tre came over and hugged me.

He laughed and asked me, "I didn't break you, did I?"

I said "Nope." I would have smiled if it didn't hurt so much. I was smiling inside, though.

A younger, nicer looking nurse came inside my hospital room.
She cheerfully said, "Hi Alexis!" with the fakest of fake smiles.
She faced the group and said "Alexis needs her sleep. You can stay here and watch her sleep, but she'll be out of it in a matter of minutes." The last thing I clearly saw was the nurse put something in my IV bag. After that it was back to sleep for me.

I heard a voice say "Hey there beautiful." I've never heard the voice before. This time when I opened my eyes I saw the boring white hospital room filled with colorful balloons, pretty flowers and cards that read something like "Get well soon". I looked toward the face. I saw a boy of about twenty, he had dark brown hair, shorter than before, with this time, red tips. He was wearing a stud nose ring, a black Green Day t-shirt, and some black pants.
I smiled (this time it didn't hurt as much) and said "Hey handsome."

After a few moments I asked, "Why are you here?"

He looked at me and said "I um... Heard about your little 'accident'. I wanted to see if you were still alive. The way the tabloids described the story it sounded like you got hit by a car and was in critical condition."

I smirked and asked, "When do I get out of here?"

Brook said, "Two to Three days, I'm guessing. The doctor said your ok, you'll just be very sore. You'll also be on pain pills for about a week, maybe two."

I exclaimed, "Yay! I get out of this jail."

Brook laughed and whispered to me, "Not so loud cutie."

I smiled.
