Wicked Times, chapter 16
I looked over at Adie. She gave me a nod saying that I should start to talk.
I couldn't form the words. I was so nervous.
I wanted Brook there to hold me, to save me. Of course I was doing this for Brook and myself.
I cleared my throat. I looked at Joey and Jakob. Their eyes were sparkling. I smiled slightly, they both gave me huge grins in return. I took a deep breath. My hands were shoved in my pockets, once again. I could feel the ring on my finger.
"Guys, I need your approval on something. I just needed to talk to all of you at once..."
Mike asked "Alexis what? What... approval? Since when did you need our approval on anything?"
I looked past the couch at Adie standing in the doorway, trying to help as much as she could. I tried to look out the window that was to my left. I couldn't see much. All I saw was a light blue sky and the house right across the street.
I said "Since your the closest thing to a family I have. I've already talked to Adie about it, she approves, even Joey and Jakob approve."
This time Billie asked the question. "What did you want to tell us?"

Billie Joe was sitting on the couch with Joey sitting on top of him. He was uncomfortable, but said nothing. He could sense the fear and nervousness of Alex through her actions and words. He hoped that his suspicions weren't right. If they were it would wreak the band. The hiding from the guys all the time, the hands shoved in pockets all the time, not eating with the 'family' they had made, and talking on the phone to her boyfriend Brook, more everyday made it all so clear. Of course Billie didn't tell Tre or Mike what he thought was about to happen. Billie was hoping he was wrong. He didn't know if Alexis was ready for this. Most importantly Billie didn't think the band was ready for this. Not now at least. Now when it was all going so well.

I took the deepest breath I could. "I'm engaged and getting married to Brook. I need your approval. I need the band's approval. This means so much to me, so much to Brook and me," I winced. I could hear my heart beating out of time. This time it wasn't because Brook was around. I was scared. I hoped for the best. There was silence. I looked at Mike.
Mike smiled at me and said, "Congrats, Alex!"
Tre's face was blank, until he came up to me and gave me the biggest huge. I thought Tre was going to break me into two pieces from the hug. Tre gave a me a quick smile and whispered "I get the first dance with the bride at the wedding?"
I smiled back and said, "Maybe."
Billie sat on the couch with his mouth hitting the floor. I sensed that he didn't seem very happy. This is what I was fearing all along, the big explosion between my friends, my family, the band.
