Wicked Times, chapter 2
I stood there staring until a tall blonde haired man with blue eyes shouted at me. I jumped. The guy behind him laughed a little.
He had spiky green hair that was about three inches long. He was short and also had blue eyes. I started to walk away, but the tall man shouted at me again. I turned around.
He ran up to me and asked
"Did the recording company send you here?"
I had no clue what he was talking about. I decided I'd follow along, hoping that I could get a free place to stay.
"Yes, they did. Am I early?"
He smiled at me slowly and said,
"No, your not. What's your name?"
I said,
"Alexis." (I used my real name).
He said,
"Hi. Nice to meet you, Alexis. My name is Mike."
I replied back with a mumbled,
"Yeah...."
He walked me over to the green, spiky haired guy. The guy gave me a wicked grin and said,
"Tre."
I was shocked. I about fell over. I was talking to the bassist and drummer of Green Day! No wonder they seemed oddly familiar.
I smiled and said,
"Alexis."
Tre gave me that wicked grin again and replied back with,
"Nice name."
Mike ushered me over to the woman sitting on the steps.
She smiled brightly, while the baby in her hands squealed loudly.
She said,
"My name is Adrienne and my cute little daughter's name is Elena."
I said,
"My name is Alexis and it is very nice to meet you."
She smiled at me again.
The oldest boy mumbled,
"Hi and it's Joseph." He pointed to the little boy running around in the yard and said,
"That's Jakob."
I got dragged into the large brick house.
Tre yelled,
"Green Day's home!"
Billie came out of what seemed no where. His hair was charcoal black. It was spiked perfectly. He was wearing a T-shirt that had horizontal grey and black stripes, black Converse, and dark blue jeans. He smiled at me with his crooked teeth. I didn't care if he had crooked teeth. Green Day fans loved them and their music. It didn't matter how they looked, all that mattered was the music. I smiled back.
He said,
"Are you here to try out for being a back up vocalist?"
I nodded my head quickly.
Billie asked,
"Do you play any instruments?"
I said,
"Yes. Drums." There was that wicked grin from Tre again, Mike just nodded, and Billie look surprised.
Billie asked another question,
"How old are you?"
I answered back by saying,
"Seventeen."
"Ok, then. You have a song picked out, right?"
I fumbled around and said
"Yes."
Mike said
"Start whenever your ready."
I started to sing;
"For months you've been away
You're here a couple days
I've got all of the time in the world
To do with what we please
If it were up to me
We'd have all of the time in the world....."
It didn't sound like The Starting Line, it sounded different. It was oozing passion. At least I could tell that. It had an edge to it. I couldn't tell if the edge was good or bad, though.
It was a pathetic song to sing to a trio of punk rock stars, but those are the only lyrics I could remember... it was the last song I had listened to.
When I finish, I couldn't read their unclear faces. I asked,
"Was it that bad?"
The trio said,
"No, no."
Billie informed me,
"It was good. You have a voice with an edge, but it was a bit rusty."
Mike said,
"We were looking for a different voice. I think we've found it."
Tre yelled at me,
"Fucking awesome voice!"
I was beaming.
Billie asked,
"Did Reprise get you a place to stay for a while?"
I said
"No... they didn't." I looked around the room at the band.
Billie cursed under his breath and mumbled,
"Well...."
Billie asked Mike,
"Can she stay at your house for a few weeks?"
He had spiky green hair that was about three inches long. He was short and also had blue eyes. I started to walk away, but the tall man shouted at me again. I turned around.
