16, chapter 15

Breaking from the searing kiss that left my mind spinning, Joey looked into my eyes and gave me another small smile. He brought his lips to mine again. Realizing we were in an open hallway, Joey pulled me to my feet, his lips only leaving mine for a second to take breathe before deepening the kiss once again.

I felt myself being pulled in the direction of an open doorway nearby. Closing the door behind us we began our decent of the stairs leading down into the basement. Things began to, shall we say, "Heat up" as we stumbled blindly onto the couch not paying an ounce of attention to our surroundings.

As the two teens stumbled through the open basement door a 30-something year old man was asleep on the couch in the same room. The sound of the door being slammed shut and the two passionate 16 year olds clambering down the stairs woke the blue-eyed man from his slumber.

He stared wide eyed at the scene in front of him before jumping up from where he lay when he realized that he was not going to be noticed; apparently the two would carry on even if they had to lie on top of him. He scrambled behind the sofa as they collapsed onto it.

Still under the influence of alcohol it took the man a few minutes to realize who the people that were about to start removing items of clothing on Mike's sofa actually were. When he finally came to terms with what was happening, he began to laugh.

Oh this is great he thought, before standing up from his hiding place. He clicked his fingers and grinned like only he could.
"Oh snaps for you guys," he said, still snapping his fingers and receiving shocked, horrified and embarrassed looks in return. "Oh I'll leave you two alone shall I?" He walked around the front of the sofa until he was standing in front of them, where he elbowed Joey in the arm.

"Good on ya little man," he winked and left the room.

When Tre walked out of the room, I still couldn't bring my self to say anything. I had absolutely no idea what just happened. What the hell did all of this mean?

"Oh shit," I heard Joey say from next to me. I looked over to see him leaning forward, his head in his hands, his elbows resting on his knees.
"What?" I asked him, my voice quiet.
"Tre," he said, I looked at him quizzically. "I'm just wondering how long it's going to take him to tell our Dads," he added.
"Oh," I said looking down at my hands. "Do you reckon they'll flip?"
"I dunno, they might do," he looked up at me. "I guess it all depends on if something happens with this. Between us I mean."
"Um, well, do you want that? Something to happen between us?" I asked him hopefully.
"I didn't kiss you like that for no reason Dan."
I didn't no what to say. I was so unbelievably happy and scared and confused all at the same time that I just sat there. My lack of response made Joey recoil, he had taken my silence as something bad and I definitely didn't want that.

I reached out and took his hand, turning him to face me, pulling him into yet another kiss, trying to say to him without words that I wanted this to happen. I just tried to not think about our Dad's and what they were going to say. They wouldn't flip would they?

Tre's POV

Still chuckling to myself at what I had witnessed I walked out of the basement, closing the door behind me to give the kids some privacy. I mean come on; we all wanted to get some when we were that age didn't we? Well we all want to get some at any age really.

I walked down the hall to the kitchen, passing Mike and Billie Joe on my way to the fridge.
"Hey man," they both said, enthusiastically, they were both completely off their faces. I was of course, rather sober, the nap having helped to calm me down a little.

I opened the door to the fridge hoping to find some Bailey's or something but not having much luck. I grabbed a beer instead.
"Mike my man," I said straightening up, closing the fridge door and opening the bottle in my hand. "You're out of Bailey's."
I began to walk from the room but added, "Oh and your kid," I said, pointing to Billie "And your kid." This time pointing to Mike. "Are about to ah... woo hoo, down in the basement," I laughed.
"Aah to be young again ay?" I sighed and took a sip of my drink. Although I struggled to stay standing as my two best friends rushed past me, heading in the direction of the basement. They seemed a little bit angry for some reason...

"What should we do?" I asked Joey, breaking from the kiss.
"For now or just in general?" he asked.
"Right now." I clarified.
"We should probably try and sneak upstairs without anyone noticing and just go and hang out with Alex and James for a while. We don't want to be here when Mike and my Dad find out, especially if they get really angry and if Tre doesn't tell them, it will be better to tell them when there sober anyway."
I nodded and we stood up from the couch and, hand in hand, made our way to the stairs.

We were almost at the door at the top of the stairs when it burst open and both Mike and Billie burst through, tripping over their own and each others feet as they ran straight past us. When they were only a few steps from the bottom they somehow managed to completely fall down them, landing on top of each other on the floor of the basement.
Joey pulled me up the last couple of stairs and through the basement door which we slammed shut. We then proceeded to run all the way up to the second story but stopped just outside my closed bedroom door. Joey, still holding my hand, turned me to face him. He was looking at me nervously and the small amount of shyness he possessed began to show. I loved that about him, he was a loud and outgoing person a lot of the time but when you really got to know him like I had over the last month or so, you learnt that he wasn't always like that.

I willed myself to stop thinking about all the little things I liked about Joey, because he was standing right in front of me and if I continued to look at him blankly like I was at that moment, he'd most likely get freaked out and stop talking to me.

"I just want you to know, before we go in there and see James and Alex and before we have to deal with parents and everything," as Joey began speaking he looked down at our entwined hands. "I really like you, and I want this to last."
