1987, chapter 8
It had been over a month since the visit to my mother. My pregnancy was beginning to show. I was 2 months and 2 weeks pregnant. Only two more weeks until the morning sickness stopped! Today is the 6th October. It was four days until Ingrid's 18th birthday. We all just decided it would be best to stay at home and have a dinner on the day.
6th October 1989...
Ingrid and Mike were upstairs in Mike's room practising Bass, Tre and Sarah were in the basement playing the drums; Billie and I were lying on the sofa together. There was a knock at the door. I carefully got up (It was getting kinda hard for me to move) and waddled (hehe) over to the door to see who it was. I looked through the little peep hole and swung the door open.
"BRIANNA!?!?" I said shocked.
"Hey Ash!" she replied smiling.
"But how? How did you know where I lived?" I asked flabbergasted (Hehe funny word).
"A little birdie told me," she grinned, "no seriously, I looked up Ashleigh Mackenzie in the phone book but the numbers didn't match so I looked up Billie Joe Armstrong and I found a number that matched the one you gave mum and well yeah, I ended up here!"
"Oh my god! Come in," I said smiling.
"Don't mind if I do," she replied. "Oh hey, I brought the kids around too since they were so excited to see Aunty Ash."
"Oh okay cool," I said as I looked down to see two small blonde haired children poking their heads around their mothers' leg.
"Who is it Ash?" Billie called from the living room.
"Get your lazy butt in here and see for yourself," I replied.
He got up and walked into the kitchen to see Brianna and the two kids.
"BRIANNA! Hey! How're you?" he asked embracing Brianna in a hug.
"Hey, I'm good thanks Billie, and you?" she replied grinning.
"Not too bad," he replied, "Hey kids! How're you? Do ya remember me? If not, I'm your Uncle Billie! I'm engaged to your Aunty Ash,"
"Hewwo," said little Michelle waving slightly.
"Hewwo, Birrie, you have the same name as mwe," said Billy looking up at Billie.
"Hehe, I do too! Where's my hug?" Billie asked.
The kids smiled, looked at each other wearily and ran up to Billie (almost knocking him over) and gave him a hug.
"You're a natural," commented Brianna.
"Thanks," said Billie smiling.
We all walked into the living room and sat on the sofa.
"So, Ash how's the baby?" Brianna asked me.
"Eh, it's good. Only two more weeks until morning sickness is finally over!" I said grinning.
"Morning sickness sucks," Brianna said, "but it's worth it, because at the end, you get a beautiful child.
"True," I said thoughtfully.
"Billieee weird craving," I started.
"What for?" Billie asked frowning.
"Mint choc chip ice cream...pickles...and...tuna," I replied.
"Eww, together?" Billie asked, shocked.
I nodded.
"Gross, pregnant women have fucked up cravings," Billie said.
"LANGUAGE!" Brianna said motioning to the kids. "And, yeah, we do,"
"I needa go pee, I'll be right back, oh and while I'm gone I'll get Tre and Sarah and Ingrid and Mike so you can meet them," I said getting up and heading to the bathroom to do my business.
"Okay!" Brianna called out to my retreating back.
When I got out of the bathroom, I walked past Mike's room and told Ingrid and Mike to go down stairs because we have company. Then I walked down to the basement, and told Tre and Sarah the same thing.
I walked out to the living room and saw everyone sitting on the sofa. They had already gotten acquainted, because Billie had introduced Tre, Mike, Sarah and Ingrid to my sister Brianna and her two children Billy and Michelle.
They were chatting animatedly amongst themselves.
"Right, guys, I better go and get the stuff for Ash's weird craving...so yeah, see you guys soon!" Billie said.
"Uh, Billie, new craving..." I started.
"What is the craving now?" he asked.
"Erm, peanut butter...and chicken...no wait...sour cream and chives...wait... salt and vinegar chips," I replied.
"Okay, smooth or crunchy PB?" he asked me.
"Both," I replied.
"Okay, I'll be back soon," he said, grabbing his keys and running out the door.
"So, what's up my friends, and sister, and niece, and nephew?" I asked.
"The roof," Tre grinned.
"Retard," I muttered.
"I HEARD THAT," he said, shocked.
"You were meant to Frankie boy," I said, laughing.
"DON'T CALL ME FRANK!" Tre yelled, annoyed at the mention of his real name.
"I didn't, I called you Frankie," I said.
"That's still technically Frank," he frowned.
"Nope, it's Frankie,"
"Fine don't call me Frank OR Frankie," he said.
"Whatever," I said.
"Aunty Ash," Billy started.
"Yes Billy?" I asked.
"I needa go potty," he said, staring at the floor.
"Okay Hun, want me to take you, or do you want your mummy to?" I asked him.
"You pwease," he replied.
"Okie dokie," I said, and picked Billy up, and smiling at Brianna while she mouthed 'He really likes you!'
I carried him to the downstairs toilet and put him down.
"Do you need help or can you do it yourself?" I asked him.
"Er...I can do it fank-oo aunty Ash," he smiled.
"Okay sweetie, tell me when you're done," I said and walked out to wait outside the door.
After a few minutes he walked out slowly.
"I finished aunty Ash," he said.
"Okay Hun, I'll just flush the toilet then I'll help you wash your hands," I said, before flushing the toilet and leading him to the bathroom so he could wash his hands. I lifted him up so he could reach and then after he had washed his hands I led him back to the living room.
The TV was still on and Michelle was glued to it. Blues Clues was on. Tre had noticed this and was gazing intently at the screen, laughing every now and then and mumbling things under his breath. Billy ran over and plopped down on the floor in front of the TV next to Michelle. Michelle, startled by her brothers' sudden appearance, tore her eyes away from the TV briefly, smiled at Billy then turned her attention back to the TV.
Billie walked in with 4 bags full of chip packets and peanut butter jars.
"Whoa... How much stuff did you buy?" I asked him.
"Well, I got a packet of every flavour of chips!" he replied. "Oh and 4 jars of peanut butter."
"YAY!" I said, and grabbed the chips and peanut butter off him, and proceeded into the kitchen to make a sandwich.
About an hour later, Brianna and the Kids left. They said they would come back in the next few days...
7th October 1989...
Billie and I were lying in bed together watching some old black and white movie on the mini TV in the room.
"Hey babe, I've been thinking," Billie started.
"Hmm?" I questioned.
"Well, I was thinking, that since you're pregnant and we're gonna start our own little family that maybe we should move out. But we'll leave the guys this house of course. I have the money you know," Billie said.
"Yeah... Maybe, that's a good idea. I'm just not too sure how the others will take it," I replied frowning slightly.
"True, but I'm sure they will understand, and I think Mike might be planning to move out with Ingrid too. That'll give Tre and Sarah some time to...well...do what ever," Billie reasoned.
"Okay well...we'll tell them and see what they say, okay?" I said.
"Okay, shall we tell them now?" Billie asked.
"Uh...why not," I said.
"Okay," Billie said, as he got up and helped me get up. We walked down to the living room together to find Tre and Mike playing video games while Sarah was drumming on every available surface, which included Tre and Mike's heads, and while Ingrid was practicing with her 'Air Bass' and making sounds like a bass guitar.
"Guys, um...Ash and I were thinking about moving out," Billie told them.
"REALLY?" Sarah screamed. "But, but, can I come house searching with you guys?"
"Er..." Billie started looking at me.
"ONCE only, why not," I said.
"YAY!" Sarah yelled before resuming the drumming.
"Congratulations," Tre and Mike said.
"Congrats guys!" Ingrid said.
"Thanks!" Billie and I replied.
After all the excitement had died down, Billie and I were sitting in the kitchen discussing the wedding.
"Where should we have it?" Billie asked me.
"Uh...How about your backyard? It's big enough..." I suggested.
"Yeah...Maybe..." he said.
"Okay so backyard then?" I asked.
"Sure. Do we wanna go traditional with the big dress and tux and all that?" he asked.
"Um...We could have custom dresses and tuxes," I replied.
"True..." he said. "That'd be great."
"So it's sorted...custom outfits, and wedding in the backyard!" I said.
"Yup!" he smiled.
*The day before the wedding...*
I skipped forward to the wedding. Not much happened over the few months I skipped. More plans for Mike and Ingrid's wedding were made. I had my first ultra-sound, and found out Billie and I are having TWINS, just like he wanted. We're having a boy and a girl.
February 13th 1990...
The backyard looked amazing, there was a large arch at one end, with flowers all over it and pink ribbons tied everywhere, on top of a large white platform where the bridal party would be situated. In front of the platform, were rows of 3 white chairs on either side of a long white piece of material to be used as the isle. Each of the chairs had small black and white ribbons tied on to them, thanks to Billy and Michelle. At the back and to the sides of the chairs, were tables covered in a red cloth, which, tomorrow, would be filled with food and cake. The invitations had been sent out weeks ago, and Ingrid, Sarah, Brianna, and I had gone to a tailors shop and given them the design for my dress, and the bridesmaids' dresses. Billie, Mike and Tre had also given their designs to a different tailors shop. Oh, and I am now 7 months pregnant!!! Billie and I had also found a big house it has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room, a big kitchen, a pool, and a basement, which Billie will turn into a studio for Triple Threat AND Green Day to practice in. We will be moving in about 1 week after the wedding. Anyway, on with the story!!!
12:37pm...
The girls and I were off to the tailors shop to pick up the dresses. While the boys were doing all that 'manly' stuff guys do.
We were sitting in the car talking about the baby, and the wedding and all that other stuff, when my cell phone started ringing.
"Hello?" I said into the receiver.
"Hey babe," came the reply.
"Hey Billie, what's up?" I asked.
"Not much, just wanted to make sure you guys are all okay," he said.
"Yup, we're fine and dandy!" I said.
"How's mini you and I?" he asked.
"Haha they're good," I replied.
"Anyway babes I better go mikes calling me so yeah. See you later baby, love you,"
"Aw okay love you too Hun, bye!" I replied.
"Cya," he said and I flipped my phone shut.
"Billie?" Ingrid asked.
"Haha yup he just wanted to make sure we're all okay."
"Aww sweet," she replied.
"Hey guys, we're here!" Sarah called, while jumping out of the car and running inside the shop while we all followed her.
I walked up to the cashier who was sitting behind a small wooden desk in one corner of the room.
"hi, we're here to pick up some dresses," I said to the cashier.
"Name please?" he asked in a posh accent.
"Ashleigh Mackenzie," I replied.
"One moment please miss," he responded, then got up and walked through a door I suppose led to the back room. A few minutes later he came out holding a deep blood red dress, 3 black dresses and a black dress with red skulls on it.
"Miss Mackenzie, these are your dresses, would you like to try them on?" the man asked.
"Uh...sure why not," I said and took the dresses as he handed them to me and passed the black dresses to Ingrid, sarah, and Brianna, put the black dress with the red skulls carefully on the chair and ventured into the changing room with my own dress.
I took off my clothes and carefully slipped into the dress. It had a blood red corset top with black ribbons tied to it, a blood red skirt with small black skulls all over it. It was really beautiful and it fitted me perfectly. I carefully opened the door to my dressing room to be greeted by the girls and the cashier whose name I later found out was Pierre.
"WOW you look amazing!" the girls all commented while Pierre just nodded in agreement.
"Thanks," I smiled, checking myself out in the body length mirror. "You girls don't look to bad yourselves!"
"Mmm, it's gorgeous. I think you should take the dress off though, we don't want anything happening to it! And thanks!!" Sarah suggested.
"Yeah, true, no worries" I said, and walked back into the changing room.
*The Day of the Wedding*
Today is the big day, I thought as I woke up.
I glanced at the clock on the small bedside table next to me -- 7am.
I looked next to me... empty. Billie had stayed the night at Mike's and so had Tre. The girls had all stayed the night at a hotel with me. I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen, to be greeted by a chorus of good mornings from Sarah, Ingrid and Brianna.
"Morning," I mumbled, and began rummaging in the cupboard for something to eat.
"Ash, here have these," Ingrid said, passing me a plate of pancakes.
"Thanks Ingrid," I smiled, taking the plate of pancakes off her, sitting down and eating.
After I had eaten, it was almost 8.30 the wedding was due to start in 5 hours and 30 minutes at 2pm, the hairdresser was due to turn up at 10am so Ingrid, Sarah, Brianna and I sat down and started painting our nails a deep red or black. By the time we had finished and they had dried, it was 9.30. We sat around for a while waiting for the hairdresser to turn up. We watched blues clues (Authors Note: Let me just point something out, I LOVE BLUES CLUES! It's the cutest program EVER. Lol. It's adorable and good for little children).
1.30pm...
We were all waiting outside the hotel for the limo to turn up. We looked amazing, Ingrid, Sarah and Brianna had their hair up in a simple messy bun, and their makeup looked great! I had my hair down and curly with my veil hanging down my back.
The limo pulled up and we all got in. I was feeling nervous, but happy and excited at the same time. I couldn't wait to marry the boy who I had fallen in love with the day I met him. He was the boy of my dreams back then, and now, he is the man of my dreams...always has been, and always will be.
We arrived at the venue - our backyard. I got out of the limo and walked up to the large garden gate that was a little taller than me. 5 minutes later, we got the signal from my sister that it was time to go in, and the music started up... .
