Rage and Love, the story of my life, chapter 1

'This is it. I've killed myself.' 18 year old Melissa thought. She hadn't even bothered to look at the label on the bottle. She just took the pills. The small hot pink ones. She lay on her floor, in a daze, barely able to stand. This was the day after graduation, where she thought all of he troubles would disapear but no. They didn't. They got worse. Tears started to fall down her face.

Tears.
Tears that fell like rain, in a desert of pain.

The door opened and she rolled over, looking at the feet that were entering into her room. The new balance shoes walked over to her, kicking her in the side.

"You're pathetic. You're ruining our family image," her father said.

"Whatever you stupid cop," she said.

"Whatever!" he said mocking her, stepping close to her and lunging like he was going to hurt her. "WHATEVER!" he spat. Spit rained on the poor girl. More tears stung her eyes.

"I'm leaving," she said, standing up and falling over. Her father picked up the bottle of pills.

"You're worthless! Just a drugged up worthless kid!" he said shaking them, so that they sprayed all over her room. "And no, you're not leaving."

"Im 18 fucking years old, I am too leaving! I've wanted this all my life, to get out of this town, the...the city of the DAMNED! With worthless cops and fucking ass holes like you," she screamed, tears streaming down her face. "I've tried my hardest to stay sane during these last 3 years. Im getting out of here, out of Washington, and if you lay one hand on me, all of the cops you work with will know, because I'll call them," she said raising up her cell phone.

Her hand was shaking so bad, it dropped to the floor. He gave her a scary look, the look she was still afraid of. He kicked her cell phone hard, breaking the cover. Melissa burst into tears, more tears, in the desert of pain. He didn't love her. She knew that every since she was 16 years old. She tried to push him out of her room, but he grabbed her arms, twisting them behind her back, and throwing her against the wall.

"You're worthless," he said, slamming the door to her room. She quickly stumbled up to her door, and locked it. She grabbed her suitcase, and packed all of her favorite clothes, shoes, and personal items.

"Melissa! Let me in!" her mother's voice cried out. She knew her mom loved her, more than her dad did. It was just what mother's did. They loved their children, no matter what. Melissa stumbled back over to the door, unlocking it, and letting her hysterical mother in.

"I love you so much, don't leave!" she cried, hugging her daughter. Melissa could feel her mother's tears soaking her shoulder.

"I have to mom. I have to leave it all behind. This is it. I've been talking since I was sixteen. I'm leaving mom, and I'm never coming back."

Melissa said lightly pushing her mother off of her. She continued to pack her belongings. Her Green Day CDs, The Clash, everything. Everything that helped her get through it all the years.

She gave her mom one last hug and a kiss, and hurried off down the hall and out the door. She ran. She knew her dad would try to keep her in this small town, the town that didn't care about her.

It was so small, that everyone knew everything about everyone. Everyone knew Melissa's father, called him a good man, but that "daughter of his". She was causing some problems. That was all her dad cared about. The image of his daughter that others would percieve of her.

She was a punk, that was obvious, at least to others. In her mind she wasn't anything. She was a mix of punk, goth, emo, whatever else. But everyone knew she was punk.

Her father never wanted that in his family. He told her that she drove her grandfather to the grave, that she was shaming the family. She had enough. It was all over. She ran as fast as she could to her car, throwing her belongings in the trunk.

"MELISSA! NO!" She heard. She turned to see her father running at her down the steps of her house. She quickly ran into her car and locked the doors, pulling out of the driveway. The last thing she saw of her family was her mother, crying hysterically, waving to her, and her dad cursing the day she was born. They didn't know where she was going but she did.

"Good bye shit-town!" she screamed.
