Welcome To My Paradise, chapter 1

"Higher Daddy! Higher!"

I wiped a tear of my wet face. Going through old photos isn't going to solve anything I thought. It's been a month since my father passed away and now I have no one to love me. My mom died when I was just six years old so that just nails it.

My name isn't that great. Victoria. How lame. How bland just like my black hair and eyes. A Greyhound Bus pulled up and I stepped on. I spent the last of my dad's hierings that I inhierated on an apartment and a one way bus ticket to California. It was cheap, I was short on cash, you do the math.

All my luggage included: Two suitacases, a few boxes, and a bookbag. The rest of my stuff was awaiting me at my apartment. Thankfully Maria's mom was kind enough to negotiate with the seller of my new homeI thought. I'm only sixteen and now all alone in this world. I got to a seat in the middle and sat down by the window. All of the sudden, I drifted off to sleep.

"California!" Some passenger yelled. I woke up and looked to left to see land.

Ten minutes later, the bus came to a halt and that signaled every passenger to get off. I did as others did and grabbed my belongings. I walked the crowded streets of Oakland(I think that's the name of this place) all by myself. Then I bumped into this kid. My stuff scattered all over the street. Crap!

"I'm sorry." The kid said." Here let me help you." He had short brown hair and the greenest eyes. Then another came running after him.

"Hey Billie! You okay?" The other one said. Brown hair nodded as he handed me my stuff.

"Thank you." I said.

"What's your name?" The other kid asked. "I've never seen you around."

"My name's Victoria." I answered. "What are your names?"

"My name's Billie." Said the Brown haired guy.

"My name is Micheal." The other one said." But you can call me Mike."

"Very nice to meet you both." I said.

"Where ya headed?" Mike asked.

"I'm going to my apartment." I responded. Some of my stuff slipped out of my hands but were caught by Mike.

"Looks like a girl like you can use some help." Mike said in almost a whisper. My cheeks flooded with redness.

"If you would be so kind." I said. With that he grabbed some items.

"So where is your apartment?" Billie asked.

"Somewhere along this street." I said and we started to walk and talk.

I told them that I just moved here and that I needed to get away from my past. We went on talking about each other and stuff like that.

"Hey Victoria." Billie said. "Are you doing anything about dinner?" I shook my head.

Shit I hadn't thought about food. Oh well I rarely eat that much. I'll manage until I get a job.

"Well if you aren't you wanna join me and Mike for dinner tonight?" He asked.

"Sure." I answered.

"Great!" Mike exclaimed." I'll pick her up Billie."

"Okay." I said in confused mode." It'll be after I'm done unpacking though."

"Then I'll stay and help." Mike offered. I was more confused. Why was he being so nice?

"If you want." I said." But you don't have to."

We reached my apartment around 4:00 PM. Mike and I bid Billie farwell and went inside. It wasn't that bad. It was homey and average. Didn't stink and the rooms were clean. I like it and am proud to call it mine.
