409 In Your CoffeeMaker, chapter 1
Billie Joe was sitting in his English class at school. This class doesn't interest him, neither does school. So he takes out a piece of paper and a pen. He decides to write a new song. He is tired of listening to his teacher talking, and is becoming extremely bored. Billie writes at the top "409 In Your CoffeeMaker." Then he writes the first line: I sit in the state of a daydream with all of your words flying over my head. Then the bell rings. Billie quickly gets up along with the rest of the class and leaves school.
Billie Joe exits the school and gets on his bus and sits in the way back, and takes out the paper and writes some more. A little while later he is home. He quickly runs inside, throws his stuff down, and heads down to the basement. Billie plops on the couch and finishes the song. He cannot wait until he shows Mike, his best friend and band mate. So he calls Mike and tells him about it. He is pretty excited.
Mike arrives at his house along with John, the other member. They look over Billie Joe's song. John seems okay with it. Mike likes it. Billie wrote the song, so of course he likes his song. Mike grabs his guitar and thinks of what he should do. John sits down at his drums. Billie starts singing the words. After a while they come up with something they all like and seem to enjoy a lot. Then they practiced it along with some other songs. Billie decided that they had enough band practice for one day.
John went home. Mike stayed with Billie Joe. Mike went upstairs to the kitchen and got a soda while Billie stayed down in the basement. Mike came back down and sat across from him. "What do you want to do now?" Billie asked. Mike responded, "I don't know. Want to go down to Gilman Street?" "Sure, why not." Billie replied.
Mike and Billie left for Gilman Street. There were a lot of people there. They were talking to the owner of the club, and they got a record deal. "Looks like we need to get a little more practice time in." Mike said. Billie nodded. The two of them were excited. In two days they're going to record their cd. They were at the club for two hours then they went back to Billie's place. It was getting pretty late. They got in the car and were home again. Mike layed down on the couch, and Billie was on the other. Billie fell asleep. Mike went to bed a little while later.
It was morning. It is close to 10:00am. Billie wakes up and makes breakfast for them. After they both eaten, he goes up and takes a shower. Mike plays his bass. Billie Joe gets out of the shower, and comes out with a towel on. He walks into his room, and gets his clothes on. Mike goes and gets a shower too. Billie calls John. He answers and says, "Look I can't make it. I can't be in this band anymore. To you and Mike it is all fun for you. I am quitting and going to college." Billie is speechless "Okay man. It is your loss. You don't want to be in this band. It is cool with me. I don't know how he's going to take it though." Billie tells him. Mike comes back, and Billie tells him the news about John. "Great. Just awesome", he says. Billie Joe responds with "We will just get this album recorded, and figure something out."
It is now two days later. Friday to be exact, and the band is ready to start to record. "Hmmm. how are we going to do this?" Mike says. Billie shrugs. "I don't know. We just got to record the songs we want." he replies. The producer comes in and talks to them for a while. They get started, or at least try to. "Maybe we should record 409 In Your CoffeeMaker first I guess." Mike is fine with this idea. They record that song then 1,000 Hours. "Let's take a break Mike." "Sure. I need one." Billie replied. The two of them went and ate before getting back to work. They came back to the recording room and recorded 1,000 Hours, Why Do You Want Him?, and Dryice for now. They will be back another day to do some more.
