Adopted, chapter 1
Jamie sat on her bed at the orphanage, still trying to soak in everything. It had already been 3 months since she had come here. Her parents died in a car accident a year ago when she was 9. She had no other family, so this is where she ended up.
Jamie sat there in a daze just staring at her matted, dark brown hair. She hadn't bothered brushing it. She knew no one would want to adopt her. Jamie carefully brushed her fingers through her hair.
Maybe I should brush it. Jamie thought to herself.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Mrs. Hart, the social worker, walked in the room.
"Honey, there's a man here who's thinking of adopting, his description fits you perfectly."
Jamie sat there dumbfounded. 'Someone wants to adopt ME?'
"Well don't just sit there. Go get your bath and get ready to meet him!"
"Ye-yes ma'am." Jamie replied.
Jamie jumped out of bed to get ready. She took her bath, brushed her hair and got dressed. She put on her black t-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers, and rushed to the main room where she found Mrs. Hart talking to a man.
The man was very petite. He was wearing a dark blue and black striped t-shirt, and black shorts that came down a little farther than his knees. He was wearing tall black shoes, making him look about an inch taller. The man had dark brown hair and deep green eyes.
"Oh, here she is!" Mrs. Hart chirped
"Hello," said the man letting out a smile, "I'm Billie Joe."
"I'm Jamie," she replied.
"Well nice to meet you, Jamie," Billie Joe said reaching his hand out.
"Nice to meet you, too," Jamie shook his hand.
They sat down and he asked her a few questions. They talked about nothing and everything.
Jamie really liked Billie Joe. He had such a soft, calm voice, and was very gentle. He almost reminded her of her own father.
After an hour of chatting with Billie Joe, Mrs. Hart decided it was time for Jamie to leave.
"Bye, Billie!" Jamie blurted and gave him a hug.
"Bye Jamie," Billie Joe hugged back.
Jamie left the room.
"So what do you think? Did you like her?" said Mrs. Hart
"Yes, I think she would be perfect." replied Billie Joe
"Wonderful!"
Mrs. Hart and Billie went to her office to fill out paperwork and such.
