The Good Life, chapter 1
My life was perfect. Was, being past tense as in it used to be. I had a Mum and a Dad, well I still have a Mum and a Dad I don't want you to think they died or ran away with French snail lovers or something.
Sorry, I'm getting carried away where was I? Oh yes, I had a Mum and a Dad, an awesome boyfriend who loved me for me and who was always there for me in a relationship that had lasted twelve months already (my longest relationship ever) and I had the best time at school.
Yes you heard me right, school, I loved school, I loved getting up early, I loved my lessons and my teachers and I loved my friends. Ah my friends, what has become of them? Everyone at my school knew me and I knew all of them but that's changed now, oh, how it's changed.
But I'm getting ahead of myself to understand what my life is like now we need to go back to the beginning. Not the beginning of my life because that would be pointless and take far too long. No, we're going back to the day I met HIM no, not just him, THEM.
'Wake me up before you go go, don't leave me hanging on like a... ' I hit my alarm clock and jumped out of bed singing loudly "Wake up it's a beautiful morning... " and as I looked out of my window onto the street below I could see it really was a beautiful morning. The sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the trees were blowing softly in the light wind and all that jazz. I danced into the bathroom and had a shower.
I ran downstairs and into the kitchen I could smell coffee and my parents were talking. "Hey honey have some toast" My Mum said as I opened a cupboard.
"No thanks I'll just have a pop tart to go, Becky will have a fit if I'm not stood outside at exactly 7:28" I looked down at my watch "Crap I gotta go love you mum, dad" I grabbed my bag and ran out of the house.
As I ran down the path to the sidewalk I saw Becky leaning against her car, arms crossed and glaring at me "Bryony, you're 26 seconds late"
"Becky, you'll get over it," mocking her tone, we both got into the car and I greeted my best friend ever, Sarah, I had known her since I was four years old and we'd always been close.
"I'm so excited and I just can't hide it... " I sang, yeah I sing a lot!
"Bry you're such a loser. You are the only person I know who actually loves school." Sarah laughed.
I sighed as Becky pulled up outside the red brick building, I had a feeling that this would be a significant day in my life and it would, but not for the reasons I would have hoped for.
