Above My Head., chapter 3
"He should be here by now." Billie stated. We were outside of the Mall enjoying the cool breeze and warm sunshine. Billie was searching all around for his friend as I sat on the rim of a big peach colored plant pot. My legs dangled and I started kicking merrily at the air.
"Hey Billie!" I heard a voice calling. I quickly turned around and saw a figure waving about his arm. Billie waved back as the figure came into view. It was a brown haired kid with the bluest eyes I've ever seen. Those gorgeous icy blue eyes...
"Hey Mike. What's up?" Billie greeted his friend.
"Nothing much." His friend responded and then turned his attention to me. I froze as the blue eyes scanned me. I felt all tingly. It felt weird but in good way.
"Who's your friend?" He asked.
"Oh it's a girl I met at the music store and she'll be fellow shopmate this summer." Billie informed his friend. "Her name's Victoria."
"Nice to meet ya Victoria." Billie's friend said. "I'm Mike." He extended his hand towards me.
"Hi. Nice to meet you Mike." I responded as I reached for his hand. When I touched it I felt all warm in my face and entire body. Am I blushing? I let go of his hand after a while.
"Hey you guys wanna go inside now to explore the suburban jungle?" Billie asked
"Sure." Mike and I said in unison.
We all marched bravely into the crowded building. If you think about it, you don't have to travel that far to go to a safari or jungle adventure. Just go to the Mall you'll have some type of adventure. Trying to avoid the people you hate, seeking out your friends, and hunting for the right place to eat. Yep that's an adventure all right.
Walking into the Mall is like stepping into the gates of Shopaholic Heaven. All these shops crunched together for viewing pleasure. We strolled among the crowd gazing at people as they passed by. Went into interesting looking stores and browsed around. It got tiring after ten minutes just looking at items. Don't know how other people do this all the time.
"You guys hungry?" Billie asked. "Because I am."
"I'm with you." Mike responded. "I'm starving."
"I'm hungry as well." I stated. I held my stomach as it began to grumble.
We walked our way to the Mall's Food Court. So many aromas form each of the food places flooded the place. It made me feel nauseas because I don't like Mall food. Hamburgers were so greasy and smelly and they gave you nothing but ice in your drink. I shuddered at the thought of it.
"On second thought," Mike said. "I'll pass." He looked a little unwell.
"Yeah me too." Billie said.
We went outside again and were all sitting on the curb. As I said, nothing really happens at the Mall just the same boring stuff like sales. It's as if it were a tape rewinding it self and replaying. Same faces, same stores, and same smells were all flooding through the building. Cars zoomed by as we jut sat there. Then they came.
They were all preppy-like with their day's worth of shopping in their hands. Laughing about nothing and just being stupid as usual. Brittany looked down and saw me on the curb; the two other morons looked down as well. I felt my blood boil inside my body, my mind exploding with stuff to blurt out.
"Well what have we here?" Brittany said in her snobby attitude.
"Mind your own fucking business!" I blurted out. Second reason I hate the mall: My foes are everywhere.
"I'll do what I like you little bitch!" She said. I stood there shocked as my hands formed into quaking fists. Should I punch her?
"What did you just say you little prep?" My voice boomed with anger.
"You heard me bitch!" She said. Oh how I hated that girl! She looked like she wanted a fight.
"You know what prep?" I said.
"You're nothing but scum! I don't have time for scum, especially in the forms of you." I started to walk back into the Mall.
"I'm not done with you bitch!" She screamed. She sounded either drunk or high with the way she wailed. I kept on walking not heeding her call of the drunk.
I went to another one of my safe spots: The bookstore. It was filled to the brim with written treasures and illustrated jewels. "A modern fountain of information" I called it. I sank down into one of the comfy chairs the store had and felt secure.
All of the sudden I heard footsteps coming towards my direction. Then I felt something holding onto my shoulder. I turned around and saw Mike smiling above my head. When I saw him, I couldn't help but smile too. Billie soon was in plain view after a couple of minutes.
"Good thing we found you." Mike stated.
"I saw your mom a couple of minutes ago." Billie informed me. "She kinda looked worried."
"Guess I have to go." I said. "I had a good time hanging out with you guys."
"We did too." Mike responded. I felt tingly again.
"Yeah, we sure did." Billie agreed.
"Well, I'd better go." I said. "Bye! See ya tomorrow Billie!"
