Is It Harder?, chapter 1
"Oh jeez!!" Brooke yelled at the sound of the shrill doorbell waking her up from a great dream that involved Green day-her favorite band.
*Brooke's POV.*
"Damn it!! I'm coming!" I yelled angrily at the person who was ringing the bell so early this morning. I raced down the stairs of the small crappy house I shared with my friend Jess who was still sleeping soundly. I opened the door and my other friend Cassidy was there squealing. I looked at her strangely and invited her in. She sat down on the old battered couch. "Call Jess down." she said excitedly. I ran upstairs to Jess's bed and jumped on it. "WAKEY WAKEY JESSIEPOO!!" I screamed at her. "Fuck!!!!" Jess groaned. She got up looking pissed and followed me downstairs. Jess and Cass exchanged hello's. "Okay so what's up Cass?" I asked. Cass smiled toothily and pulled something out of her pockets. Well. three things actually. Oh my gosh. "GREEN DAY TICKETS!!!!" I screamed. I pulled Jess and Cass together with me and we started dancing around the living room. "Oh Cass, I love you!!!" I said happily. "It's tonight!" Cass said excitedly. "Hey Cass you can stay here until the concert. You don't really have any good clothes for a punk concert." I said. Cass was not a prep but she wasn't a punk either. She only listened to Green day because me and Jess liked them. Her style was more Gwen Stefani and Black Eyed Peas. Jess and I were punks. We had met at baseball camp when I was in Grade six and she was in grade 7. Now she's 19 and I'm 18. Not too young and not too old. Cass had medium length curly brown hair and brown eyes. Jess had short brown hair littered with all different shades of blue and brown eyes. I had long brown hair with natural highlights and green eyes. Cass nodded. "Yeah sure." she said. We all looked at each other and broke into squeals of joy and disbelief. "I'm gonna go make some breakfast. What do you guys want?" asked Jess. "Vegetarian omelette." I said since I was a vegetarian. "Bacon and Eggs." said Cass. Jess disappeared into the kitchen. "C'mon let's find you some clothes for tonight." I said to Cass and we ran up to my room. "Hmmm." I muttered to myself as I pulled out clothes from my closet then put them back on the hanger. "Ahh, here we go." I said and I pulled out black Dickies and a white tank top and black over shirt. I then pulled out green and black socks and gave her my old pair of green converse. Cass went into the bathroom and emerged five minutes later as a punk. I smiled to myself at the good job I did. "Brooke,Cass!" yelled Jess from the kitchen. Cass and I made our way down to the kitchen by following the delicious smells. Jess was a terrific cook where as I could not cook for shit. We ate our breakfast in peace and it was damn good. "Hmm...I need to get pumped up for the concert." I said. "Lets go and buy CD's!" I said enthusiastically. Jess laughed. "Brooke, we hardly have any money for rent. We can't just go out and buy three CD's." "Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!" I started chanting. Jess and Cass sighed. "Fine." they both muttered looking annoyed. "Yay!" I yelled. "C'mon! Let's go!" We cleared up the table and took the city bus to the mall. We found a music store and got CD's that we wanted and didn't have already. Jess got Nimrod. Cass got L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani. And I got Kerplunk! We paid for the CD's and took the bus back home. "OOO I can't wait until tonight!" I said excitedly. "It's already 1:00." said Cass. "Let's get dresses for the concert and do our makeup." said Jess. Me and Cass agreed and hurried upstairs to Jess's room. I went to my closet and got my outfit-black and white checkered converse, red St.Jimmy T-shirt,black Dickies and black and red socks. I went back to Jess's room and saw she was wearing the same thing but a black green day T-shirt and black converse. We did each other's makeup. I did Cass's, Jess did mine and Cass did Jess's. Finally it was time to head out to downtown Vancouver for the concert at GM Place. When we got there it was so busy I could hardly get around. Before American Idiot most of the fans were hardcore punk guys but now there were teenage girls in pink miniskirts and fake pink high tops. There was even small girls of ages 6-9! I shook my head disgustedly at the teenies. We started walking towards the doors but something caught my eye..something amazing.
