American Idiot, chapter 2

I'm the son of rage and love
The Jesus of Suburbia

18 years ago Jesus was born of a mother, who was full of love, and a father, who was full of rage. His father left him when he was three years old, and his mother has grown angry and is now full of rage as well. He's grown up in this shithole town his whole life, and he hates it. His friends are all badass punks, and he has also grown to be one. He's fed up with this shithole town, and he thinks he's going to leave...

***

City of the dead,
At the end of another lost highway,
Signs misleading to nowhere,
City of the damned,
Lost children with dirty faces today,
No one really seems to care

He's been living in this this town, this city for his whole life; and he just hates it. It's making his life even more miserable by the minute. It feels like nobody understands him anymore, and he needs help. He just needs someone to understand him, and what his life's like.

***

Land of make believe,
And it don't believe in me,
Land of make believe,
And I don't believe,
And I don't care!

Now he just doesn't even care about anything anymore. He's in pain, and he still just needs someone to fucking understand him.

***

Dearly beloved, are you listening?
I can't remember a word that you were saying,
Are we demented? Or am I disturbed?
The space that's in between insane and insecure

He doesn't even know if he's...normal anymore. He's not sure if these feelings that he's feeling are normal. He wants to know if he can get out of it somehow. He just feels so insecure...

***

To live and not to breathe,
Is to die in tragedy,
To run, to run away,
To find what you believe,
And I leave behind,
This hurricane of fucking lies,
I lost my faith to this,
This town that don't exist

So I run,
I run away

To the light of masochists.

He just can't take this shithole town anymore, he's LEAVING.

Jesus went up to his small blown away room and packed everything in his possession in a bag. His mom watched him without a care that her own son was leaving.

"I'm leaving bitch," said Jesus.

"I believe I can see that."

Jesus was filled with anger and gave his mom the finger. He took his bags and ran outside to his old beat up car, and just drove away...
I don't feel any shame,
I won't apologize

When there ain't nowhere you can go,
Running away from pain,
When you've been victimized,
Tales from another broken home
