Can dreams come true?, chapter 1

Callie wasn't normal. Her parents were always telling her how strange she was and how she didn't fit in to the family mould. She already knew that though. Her family were the kind of people who always looked neat, washed the car on Sundays and loved rugby. Rugby for them was beyond love, it was beyond obsession, it was even beyond infatuation. But Callie was the total opposite of everything she was meant to be. She liked wearing black clothes and Converse on her feet; she changed her different outrageous colours almost every week, she had her tongue and belly-button pierced and she liked playing the guitar and just listening to music. But worst of all, she HATED rugby! All of this really strained the parent-daughter relationship at home. The one thing that her parents were was normal: but that was the one thing that Callie NEVER wanted to be.

"I've been, waiting a lifetime, for this, moment to come; I'm destined, for anything at all... " Callie sang as she got out of the shower.
She was still humming the tune as she passed the comb quickly through her blue hair. It was blue today anyway! The Thursday before it was red, and the Sunday before it was purple! She had dyed it so much that she could hardly remember her natural colour. That didn't matter much though, she liked the blue.
Once she was ready, she grabbed her bag and walked straight out of the door. Her snide brother called after her but she didn't even turn to look at him. Instead she just fixed the headphones in her ears and switched on her ipod. Straight away hitchin' a Ride started blaring in her ears. She had once read that a girl was listening to this and Billie Joe Armstrong was walking along behind her, singing the song. Callie quickly glanced behind her...
"Don't be so silly Cal;" she said to herself, "this is England, not Fairyland, or Heaven for that matter!"
She loved Billie Joe. All of her friends did too, but she didn't just love him like they did. Yeah, he was gorgeous but Callie loved him for his music and song writing. The metaphors in his lyric and the way that Green Day albums took you on such emotional trips really touched her and seriously blew her mind: especially American Idiot. The first time Callie ever listened to it, she cried. It was seemed to her like Billie Joe could understand what she was going through; even though he had never met her and didn't even know she existed!

"Callie Rose, get your arse over here and give me a hug!" screamed a voice from the other side of the road.
Callie looked over to where the voice was coming from. It was Tasha. Callie had known Steph since ever. The first face she could remember was Tasha's. They had been best friends for what seemed like ever, and ever was a long time! She ran over to Tasha and gave her a massive bear hug. Callie hadn't seen her for a few weeks as she was in Spain with her dad. Tasha had tried to ring Callie when she got back but Callie almost never had her phone on.
"Tash, why do always call me Callie Rose. I've told you loads just to call me Callie but you never do!"
"Callie Rose sounds so perty though. I wish I had a perty name like yours! Oh well, you on your way to Cady's?"
"Hell yeah, she stocked up her booze cupboard last night so I was gonna go get a pick-me-up! You wanna join me?"
"Well its only 9am, but yeah sure" Tasha said as she linked Callie's arm.

Once they had got to Cady's house and had a few bottles of beer, they sat down on her bed and just carried on sipping and talking. After another hour just drinking and listening to music. They decided to get something to eat, so they grabbed their bags and ran out of the house to find a restaurant. When they eventually found one, they all ordered a Grilled Chicken Sandwich and a water to try and sober them up a bit.
Once they had eaten and Tasha had paid for the meal, they went outside for a fag. As they went outside, a police car and two Ambulances rushed past. They didn't think much of it and decided to walk to Tasha's place.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah Shit. My phone is ringing," Callie said as she searched through her bag to find the damn thing. She eventually found it at the bottom of her bag.
"Hello... "
"Hello, Am I speaking to a Miss Callie Rose Hunter?"
"Yeah, the one and only. Who are you?"
"I'm Mrs Finlayson, a receptionist at Ely Police Station. Would it be possible for you to come down to the station at all today?"
"Whatever it is I swear I didn't do it. It wasn't me... .."
"No no Dear, it's nothing like that. We just need you to come down to the station. I can't tell you why as we can only tell you in person."
"Uuuuuuuuuuummm, yeah, I'll catch the next bus there."
