Can You Still Love Me If You Can't See Me Anymore?, chapter 11
"Hey!" one of them said. "Why do you keep ignoring us?" She was bulky and looked like the kind of person you wouldn't want to run into on a dark night.
"We didn't know you were talking to us," Billie said.
"Yeah right," another one snorted, it was Hilary. I rolled my eyes. Soon enough more of them surrounded us, they all looked way older and bigger than us, I felt even more scared but why? What were they going to do to us?
"See the thing is Laura." It was Roxie. "When you have no friends to go to there are always older brothers and sisters and their friends," she said with that sly smile on her face that night she kissed Billie Joe.
"Roxie, what are you doing?" Billie said.
"This is what I'm doing," she said. They all pulled rocks and old cola cans out of their pockets. We tried to run but we couldn't get out. Suddnely, we were pelted with all sorts of things. I tried as hard as I could not to cry but the pain was immense, I felt myself getting weaker and weaker.
"Oh what a baby!" I heard one of them say but I didn't know who it was because I had my eyes closed tight. I heard them laugh as they left. I think I heard Roxie say,
"Revenge is so sweet." It was just me and Billie again, torn to pieces. I opened my eyes again, but only ever so slightly, I didn't have the energy to get up and one of my legs had been deeply cut, or so it felt that way. I don't think Billie was outcold but he had a paper bag in his hand, or so it looked that way, I felt myself leaving the real world and eventually black out.
*Narrator*
Billie saw Laura just lie there outcold. His ankle was hurting like hell so he too couldn't get up. He just stopped himself from having a really bad panic attack, but the whole thing had just drained him of his energy. It began to rain, he started to get worried, what if nobody came? And even worse what if the tide came in and swept them both to a watery grave? He slowly started to close his eyes but in the distance he could see what looked like two headlights. Have we been here for that long? he thought to himself. The lights seemed to get closer, until they felt blinding, surely they must've seen us he thought. Before he could think or see anymore, he too blacked out.
