Can You Still Love Me If You Can't See Me Anymore?, chapter 14
It had been a few weeks since I'd come back from holiday. The good news was that all my bandages could be taken off but at the moment I had a lot of scars. I noticed a picture of Roxie and her gang in the local newspaper, it talked about the accident and their punishment. Billie and I were mentioned too and there were a few interviews. I took one look at it and threw it in the bin. Lianne had invited me over to her house, which I was half glad about beacuse it was getting quite bored and lonely. So I told my mom I was going out and grabbed my bike and left. It only took about 10-15 minutes to get there. I was sort of excited because I hadn't seen Lianne since I was in hospital so as soon as I got there she gave me a hug and asked if I was okay. "Yeah I'm fine," I said.
"Can you phone your mom, tell her that you'll be home really late," she said.
"Okay..." I said, sort of puzzled as I slowly reached for the phone. I told my mom and she said she was fine with that. "Why will I be home late?" I asked Lianne.
"Oh it's a surprise," she said with an enigmatic smile in her face.
"God, now you're keeping me in suspense," I laughed. What could it be? I thought to myself. It was already 9:30 pm Lianne and I had been talking a lot about what had happened a few weeks ago.
"Oh there's our taxi," she said. "Come on."
"Can you tell me where we're going now?" I asked.
"Not yet," Lianne laughed. I was really excited about the surprise, but I still couldn't put my finger in what it could be. The taxi stopped at a small building. I noticed it was Vikki waiting outside.
"Oh my God I haven't seen you in ages!" I said to her.
"I know isn't it!" she said.
"Is this the surprise? Seeing Vikki?" I asked Lianne.
"Not all of it," Lianne said with an enigmatic smile on her face. Vikki laughed, she obviously knew what Lianne was on about.
"Oh come on!" I moaned. "You've got to tell me!"
"You'll see," Vikki said. We went inside the small builingto see a band playing, they were pretty good, hey they look familiar. Wait a second.
"You're kidding!" I shouted in laughter to Vikki and Lianne.
"Yep," they both laughed.
"Do they know they're here?" I asked.
"Yeah come on," Lianne said as we made our way towards the front. We screamed with excitement. Then Billie noticed me, I waved nervously, then suddenly, he stopped and then bent down and pulled me up on stage.
"What are you doing?" I said. Vikki and Lianne were both laughing, they knew.
Billie smiled.
"Long time no see huh?"
"Yeah!" I said breathlessly.
"Well in that time I've been busy," he said.
"Doing what?" I asked, puzzled.
"Thinking of you," he said. I smiled as a tear rolled down my face, I couldn't believe it was them. I said hi to Mike and Tre then they all stopped. Everyone stared at us. "WE'D LIKE TO DEDICATE THIS SONG TO OUR GOOD FRIEND LAURA!" Billie yelled to the crowd who cheered and shouted. "She, she screams in silence," Billie started to sing, I smiled and waved at the audience and thought to myself, and to think that he pushed me in a swimming pool. I smiled and laughed for the rest of the song. Roxie might've won the battle but I had won the war.
