Can You Still Love Me If You Can't See Me Anymore?, chapter 4

Day 3

I felt so much better than yesterday. I felt satisfied I finally told that Roxie or whatever where to get off, maybe this holiday isn't so bad after all. I walked out of my tent. "Good morning mother, father," I said joking around.
"You've had a change in attitude," my dad noticed.
"Let's just put it this way, things are looking up," I said with a smile.
"I'm glad you feel that way, oh yeah honery can you do me a favour and take Sammy to the swimming pool?" My face fell.
"What? Why?"
"Beacuse I aksed you to," he replied.
"Okay," I sighed. There goes my good day. Besides why can't mom or dad take him, maybe the want some 'alone time' or shit like that, typical adults. I took Sammy by the wrist.
"I found a worm yesturday," he boasted.
"Really?" I said trying to sound interested.
"Uh-huh, I called him Skippy and he was all squishy and long and -"
"Okay, okay I don't need to know about your stupid pet worm."
"He's not stupid and Mom said you have to be nice to me." I rolled my eyes.
"Well, here we are put on your snorkle and Mom will be here in an hour or so."
"Okay."

I sighed as I left my little brother who had found some friends to play with, that was one job done. Great, another lonely day I thought to myself seeing nobody that I knew. I was on my way back to the campsite. Then I saw Billie, Mike and Tre walked over. "Hey haven't seen you since yesterday, where are the girls?"
"Oh they went into town to go shopping," Tre said.
"Why does that not surprise me," I laughed rolling my eyes. "Anyways what are you guys up to?"
"Oh we were going to find some of the other guys to play football, wanna come?" Billie asked.
"Sure," I said so we walked off into one of the more deserted campsites, there was a group of boys there, I was the only girl but I didn't care, I liked football and like I said I'm not really a girly girl anyway.

We played game after game after game, until dusk started to fall. By then I was covered in grass stains and I had a bruise on my leg but what the hell, it wasn't like I cared. So I said that I'd probably see the boys tomorrow. I walked back to my tent, where I got bored easily so I decided to stroll along the beach and skim rocks. I was on my own for a few minutes, then Billie came along. "Hey, you were pretty good out there, for a girl." I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Ahem."
"Ok, you were pretty good."
"Thank you," I said smiling. "So do you come down here a lot?"
"Sometimes," he said.
"So where are the others?"
"Oh they went back to the campsite but I didn't feel like going back."
"Oh, okay." I skimmed another rock and heard it skim against the water.

"It's too quiet," I said. "IT'S TOO QUITE DAMMIT!" I heard the echo. Billie looked at me. "Silence is golden but shouting is fun," I laughed he laughed too. "DAMMIT!" I yelled again.
"DAMMIT!" he yelled.
"Oh come on you can shout louder than that," I said.
"DAMMIT!" he yelled.
"That the best you can do?" I teased.
"Let's see you try then."
"DAMMIT!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. He looked at me shocked at the loud sound I could make, I just laughed. Then we heard a voice.
"Oy you two shut up!" It was my mom. "Laura it's time to come back it's getting late."
"Oooo five minutes more," I groaned.
"Laura!"
"Okay!, I guess I better go then."
"Yeah," he smiled with a half hearted, disappointed tone in his voice. "Bye."
I ran up the beach waving.

*Narrator*

Billie Joe looked at her fading into the distance, he wanted to spend more time with her, he'd just realised that he liked he, a lot more than he thought he did. He sighed and went back his thoughts full of regrets and disappointement.
