Can You Still Love Me If You Can't See Me Anymore?, chapter 7
I refused to come out that next morning. I was "sick". Not even for mom's pancakes, even though I was starving. I planned not to come out for the rest of the day.
Roxie had won her stupid little battle and made me look like a dickhead so I wasn't going to the dance that night either. Even though I was still friends with Mike, Tre and Lianne. But the others, I vowed not to talk to again. I would just just stay in the tent all day coughing every now again so my mom would think I was just sick and that nothing else was wrong, I really didn't feel like talking. Anyway, I hope Roxie has fun, no doubt she will. She's got everything she wants and she has to ruin someone else's life to get it. And I dread to think about Vikki, having to tell everyone about the boys she meets at the party. I sighed and fell back on my pillow. "Honey are you okay in there?"
"Yeah, fine!" I couldn't take this anymore, I had to go out, it's too hot and sweaty in here. "Hey mom, I think I'll go for another walk and maybe get some water."
"Okay sweetie." she smiled.
I walked off, when I thought she wasn't looking I ran off right to the cliff edge and sat down. Nobody ever comes up here around this time, nobody will ever think of looking for me here. "Laura!" Oh crap, I thought to myself. It was Lianne and Tre. "Oh hello." I grumbled, then hunched up.
"Laura where were you all morning?" Tre asked.
"Nowhere, just sick." I said.
"Yeah right, does this have anything to do with Roxie?" Tre asked again.
"No." I lied.
"Of course it does," Lianne said, "it was pretty obvious when you took off last night after.." she stopped, "well you know,"
"Look, neither of you are making me feel any better so why don't you go and have fun with the rest of them. Look, I'm a loser, they'd all laugh at me if they were here right now, except Mike maybe but that's not the point and no I'm not coming tonight."
"The only thing that's worse than showing up is not showing up." Lianne said.
"Yeah that's r... yeah, you're right." I said, suddenly thinking, she may have won the battle but not the war. "So you still not going later?" Tre said.
"Oh I don't know about not going." I smiled.
"Well done Lianne." Tre laughed. I got up and walked with them. "Oh by the way," Tre said, "Billie had no idea that Roxie was going to kiss him, none of us did,
"well except her and maybe Hilary." Lianne interrupted.
"Really?" I said. "Well why doesn't he say that to my face." I said still slightly annoyed. Lianne and Tre went quiet. "We'll still have fun." Lianne said trying to break the silence. "I guess." I said.
"C'mon why don't we go look for the rest of them?" We walked off. I felt a little less spiteful than I did earlier, God Lianne is good at persuading, but I was still annoyed but I wouldn't let Roxie get in the way. Believe it or not I had a plan.
