A Last Ride In on the Boulevard of Broken Lives, chapter 3

I woke up agian, this time in a hospital. Tre was sitting beside the bed. He looked over at me.
"How's Mike?" I asked.
"He's in the ICU." he said. I looked out the window behind Tre. Ambulances rushed around everywhere.
"Adrienne, Joey, Jakob, do they know I'm here?"
"Yeah, I just talked to them. Adie's coming over; the boys are going over to your mom's." Tre said. He looked down at the floor.
"Can we go see Mike?" I know I'd been asking a lot of questions, but I was really confuzed. All I remember was the car flipping over and that was it.
"Yeah, if you're up to it." I nodded. I got up and felt really dizzy, but I really wanted to go check on Mike. If anything happened, I don't know what I'd do.

Tre and I walked down the halls of the hospital. I looked into one of the rooms, just briefly, and saw a poster of Mike, Tre and I.
"I'm gonna go surprise someone." I said. Tre smiled and nodded. We walked into a room and saw a girl, about twelve or thirteen, staring out the window. Her hair was gone and she looked really weak. She had a mask over face.
"Hi. How are you?" She looked over at me in disbelief.
"Oh my god! Okay, am I dead?" Tre laughed.
"Yeah. You died yesterday because a trian grew wings and blew up the world." I nudged Tre. She just smiled.
"Well, I know I'm not dead, but why are you guys here? This is like, so amazing! Billie, why are you in a cast and gown? Where's Mike?" She looked puzzled.
"We were in an accident. Mike's downstairs." Tre said.
"Oh, is he jsut getting something to eat, or," she asked. Her face was bright, ever since she looked over at us.
"Um, actually, he's not doing too good," I said. Her face went pale. I looked over to see Tre. His eyes were filled with tears. "We were just going down to see him."
"Oh. Can I come?" She asked. I didn't want to say no. I couldn't.
"Yeah, sure, if you're allowed," Tre said. Her face brightened agian.
"Okay, I'll just ask my nurse," She got up from her bed and lead us out of the room. She asked, and was not let down. He all got in the elevator and Tre pushed the button. The car started to decline.
"So, what's your name?" I asked.
"I'm Kelly," She replied. She had a huge smile on her face. She reminded me a lot of Joey, when she smiled. Her mouth streched ear to ear.
"I like that name, Kelly. It's pretty," I said.
"Thanks. I like it too." The elevator doors opened and Kelly led us out.
"If you don't mind me asking, whats wrong?" I asked hesitantly.
"It's a brain tumor," She said.
"Oh, I'm sorry," I said.
"Oh, no. It's fine. I mean it's not fine but it's almost gone anyway."
"That's good," Tre said. We came to a hallway with a sign above the door. It read ICU. I was nervous and so was Tre.
"If you guys want some time with him alone, I can stay out here." She said pointing to a chair in a small waiting room. "I'd understand if you do." I was hesitant.
"If you could give us, like, ten minutes, that'd be great. Then, you can come in. I'll come out and get you." I said.
"Okay, that's cool." she said as she sat in one of the chiars. Tre and I walked in through the long hallway, and passed a desk with a nurse standing beside it.
"Can you tell us where Mike Pritchard is?" I asked.
"He's down the hall on the left, room number 154. He's still not doing too good, but he's responsive." She said, barely looking up from the computer.
"Thanks." I said. We walked down the hall to find room 154. It was dark, but the T.V. was on.
"Hey, Mike. How are ya?" I asked quietly.
"I hurt like shit, man. I don't even know what happened." He laughed and smiled up at me. "What happened to you, Bill?"
"I broke my arm, man. I'm getting dizzy, too. Tre's the lucky one."
"Oh, well have you heard from," his voice started fading away, and his eyes stated to close. I knew something wasn't right. I looked at Tre. His eyes got real big. He turned to the door.
"Bill, we've got to get some help. Now!" Tre said. "I'll get a nurse, you stay here." I nodded and looked back over to Mike. I put my hand on his face. He was really sick. I felt his neck for a pulse. There was none.
