I've Been Living A Lie, chapter 7

Billie Joe shouted me but I carried on walking. I heard him stumble to his feet, so I started running. I ran into the back room frantically searching for Katie and Mark. I found them talking to some other fans. Katie jumped up when I walked over and hugged me when she noticed I'd been crying. Then Mark came and did the same.
"Charlotte, what's wrong? Where have you been?" Mark asked. I went to answer but then I saw Billie Joe enter the room from the corner of my eye. I quickly grabbed their arms and walked past Billie to the door. He just looked at me as I walked past him, pulling my confused friends behind me.
"What the fuck is going on!?" Katie asked when we were in the hallway.
"I'll explain at the hotel," I said before slamming into someone. I looked up to see Mike and Tre. Shit!
"Where are you going?" Tre asked. I just shook my head and started walking hoping Katie and Mark would follow. Then Mike spoke, "They do love you, you know? They always have, always will. Don't forget that." I froze as his words sunk in.
"I won't." I muttered, before walking off this time Katie and Mark followed even more confused than before. I walked until we were out of the arena and in a cab until I finally answered Katie and Marks questions with a simple, "I'll tell you later."
The cab pulled over to the hotel and I muttered thanks to the driver and paid him before hurrying into the foyer and up to our suite. It wasn't until I got there that I remembered Mark had the key. I slumped against the door and slid down it waiting for them to come. When they got there they were looking at me like I was mad and Katie pulled me off the floor while Mark unlocked the door. She dragged me in dropped me on the sofa and they both sat on the coffee table opposite me and folded their arms. They reminded me of my schoolteachers... and I hated school.
"Spill!" Mark said, "Tell us what the hell is going on!"
I took a deep breath and that's what I did...I told them everything from the note and the birth certificate, right to the conversation in the dressing room. They just sat there staring blankly at me when I'd finished. I subconsciously reached for my locket nervously.

"Is that the locket?" Katie asked. I nodded.
"I can't believe you're their daughter! I mean...Wow were best friends with a rock stars daughter!!" Mark rambled suddenly.
Katie stared at him shaking her head slightly "Not helping. Really not helping."
I laughed slightly, "No actually...it is. I find him mildly amusing when he goes into his mad moments," I said. Mark stuck his tongue out at Katie.
"Ha!" He said.
"Right...anyway back to Charlotte," She replied. "Can I see the locket?" I nodded again and went to take the locket off before changing my mind and just leaning over, opening the locket so they could see the picture and the poem.

"Just because were not there, Doesn't mean that we don't care, Forever remaining in our hearts, We'll never be that far apart, Just remember our love is true, And we'll always be there for you." Katie murmured, reading the poem aloud.

"Are you going to speak to them...I mean before we leave?" She asked. I hadn't really thought about that. I'd been too busy thinking about this mess.

"I don't know. I'm kind of scared but I...it wouldn't be right if I didn't. I just can't face it." Mark pulled me into a hug and I felt the tears slip from my eyes.

"It's ok, don't worry. You don't have to talk to them if you don't want to, they don't know where you are." He said to me. Then suddenly Katie jumped up,

"Mike!" she gasped.
We watched her curiously then I finally said, "Huh?" She put a hand to her head and sat down again,

"I told Mike what hotel we were staying at," She said. I stood up quickly.

"What?! When?" I said worriedly.

"When you were talking to Tre after he jumped on you. Mike asked me if we were on holiday and I said yeah and told him where we were staying," She explained.

"Oh great! Now he'll tell them. What if they come?!" I rambled.

"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it. You're the one who always says 'Don't worry about things until they happen'" Mark answered.

I nodded, "Your right."

For the rest of the night we just watched T.V and sat around lazily. The time pretty much flew by and Katie and Mark had already gone to bed. I was watching music videos but I was starting to fall asleep, so I got up and turned off the T.V and went to bed. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

*Next morning*

I woke up to someone knocking on the suite door. I looked over to Mark and Katie who didn't see affected by the noise and stayed fast asleep. I rolled my eyes and got out of bed to open the door not even thinking who it would be. The knocking carried on.

"Alright alright I'm coming!" I snapped and opened the door. I froze when I saw the almost identical eyes that I had watching me. I went to close the door but he put his foot there so I opened it again.

"I just want to talk to you. Please. You just left yesterday. Me and Adie don't want you to leave, you're our daughter." He said.

"I've already told you. I'm not the perfect daughter." I moved his foot out the way and closed the door.

I heard him frantically rummaging through what I'm guessing is his pockets before saying, "Ok if you don't want to talk I'll go. But read this first." A piece of paper slid under the door and I cautiously picked it up. It was folded in half and on the front was an address and phone number. I opened it and the two words written there meant more to me than anything else.

'Nobody's perfect.'
