Rodeo Rocker, chapter 5
“Oops!� Cody giggled, still lying sandwiched between Tre & Mike “I think I got some grovelling’ ter do on monda,� she broke off as her cousin’s friendly collie dog started to lick her face “Eurgh! Jeop! That’s almost as wet as Mike,� she laughed, helpless to push the dog off as Mike tickled her, causing her to squirm between him & Tre a Billie Joe rolled off, laughing.
“Cody’s makin’ ‘em happy in pants!� he grabbed onto Jake, pointing at the two guys shouting & laughing as Cody wriggled between them “HeHe, gizza drink!� he said, reaching for the bottle that Jake was necking.
“WOAH!� Jake yelled as Jeopardy jumped up, toppling Jake to the ground “S’good bein’ a rebel,� he slurred, waving to a lady walking across the road, looking at them in despair & annoyance
“You kids need to do something’ better with your time!� she called out to them, shaking her head as she walked on.
11.30pm
Jake & Cody creeped into their house, giggling quietly, trying not to wake Jake’s mom or the lodger. Too late.
“What time do you call this?� Pete asked as Maddie turned on the light “Especially when you’ve got school in the morning!�
“Tch, Mike & the guys don’t have a curfew!� Cody started, before biting her tongue.
“I don’t give a damn about those three layabouts!� he shouted as Cody shrank back behind Jake “While you live here, both of you, you’ll obey OUR house rules!�
“Just go to bed, don’t start an argument Cody, I’m too tired� her aunt cut in wearily, noticing that her nice was about to say something.
As the two teenagers stumbled up the stairs, Jake helping Cody slightly, she looked down the stairs, “Aunt Maddie?� she called down quietly, “sorry for bein’ me!�
The next morning
Jake! Cody! Get up, you’ll be late!� Maddie’s voice came up the stairs, followed by a loud bang on their doors.
“Eurgh!� Jaake moaned as he stumbled out of bed, holding his head. Grabbing his clothes he rushed out of his room to run to the bathroom, tripping over Jeopardy, lying in a heap as Cody jumped over him, laughing, she shut the door in his face “CODY!� he yelled, banging on the door, “Y’ better not take forever! C’mon Jeop, I’ll let you out while she’s in there,� he walked down the stairs, letting the dog out in the backyard, grabbing a muffin & running back upstairs to throw on his clothes “Cody! The bus is here, C’mon!� he shouted over the hairdryer.
As they scrambled up the steps, Cody noticed that Danny had already taken the seat next to Sarah so she sat in front of them, next to Jake. “Hey guys,� she turned to face them sheepishly “I guess I better apologise for yesterday, so… D’ya have a good ride?�
“Yeah, although poor Timber think you’ve forgotten him, and he’s not the only one.� her friends glared at her.
“I haven’t forgotten anyone!� Cody replied, defensively “You know how it is, c’mon Sarah, you were just the same when you went out with that stoner Tom, we couldn’t see you for dust,� She glared as Sarah blushed & looked down at the floor. “I’m sorry ok, ‘n’ I’m, goin’ to see Timber tonight, even if I can’t ride!�
They jumped off the bus just as the bell rang for 1st period, “we’re late, again,� the three of them moaned “I’m startin’ to hate that stupid idiot we’ve got drivin’ for us at the moment� Danny exclaimed “I dunno how he does it, turns up at our stop early ‘n’ still gets here late� as they rushed up the steps, through the big wooden doors.
“see you at beak guys!� Cody yelled over her shoulder as she ran to art.
