Rodeo Rocker, chapter 8
Cody gazed out of the window to the sports field, she could make out her cousin playing basketball, she smiled to herself as she watched Billie Joe jump, trying to reach the ball from his taller classmates. Another boring maths lesson, it seemed to last on forever & it was only 2nd period. She looked around as Danny nudged her. “Hey, is that the new girl you ‘n’ Sarah were on about?� he asked nodding to a girl stood talking to their teacher, Mr. Ashworth.
“Okay class, settle down,� he stood up “we have a new student today, this is Amy Walker, she’s just moved here from Texas, I hope you’ll make her feel welcome.� he finished with a stern glance to a group of plastics who were giggling at the back of the room, “if you want to take the desk behind Cody, that’s the resident day dreamer there.�
“Hey! Good to see y’ ‘gain� Cody turned round to smile, “This is Danny� she introduced them as he waved, “like your outfit, Coolio earrings,� she followed Amy’s gaze, “Oh, ignore the plastics, unless you look like a Barbie doll they’ll laugh at y’� she offered, noticing her new friend looking uncomfortable as they laughed again.
“HEY, Cody ‘n’ Danny boy got another freak to hang with!� one of the jocks called over as the blonde girls sniggered.
“Getta life, Bimbos� Cody retaliated, sticking two fingers up at them as the bell rang, “Great, break at last!� she threw her books into a bag & grabbed Amy’s arm, “C’mon, need to gather the troops�
They walked to their usual corner, next to the music rooms “Hey Sarah,� Danny called “We found the new member,�
“Hey Amy,� Sarah smiled as she walked over, “So, what d’ya think o’ this place?�
“It’s ok, bigger than my old school though,� she replied, looking at a list in front of her “D’ any o’ you have Mrs. Lamb for biology next?�
“All of us,� Cody answered, looking over Amy’s shoulder at the list, “hey, that’s great, your in music with us after dinner & Art with me last� as she sat down in the grass, stretching her legs in front of her.
“Y’ won’t be able to get up now,� Danny laughed, “looks like you’ll have to wait till dinner to meet Cody’s cousin ‘n’ his mates,� he looked at Amy, twisting his eyebrow bar again.
“Eurgh! Cody what would o’ happened if you’d had your belly bar in when that bronc threw y’?� Sarah asked, grimacing as she watched Danny twist it round to stop it from sticking. “Ah man, why do lessons drag ‘n’ breaks over before it’s begun?� she groaned as the bell rang again, helping Cody off the floor as the four walked to biology.
1 hour later
“I never knew how much gum was stuck to the walls before,� Cody laughed, “Maybe I should pay attention next class�
“Yeah, might be an idea,� Sarah nodded, linking arms with her & Amy as Danny linked Amy on the other side, “Your problem is you’ve got too many evil plans goin’ round your head so you don’t concentrate on important stuff,�
“like you y’ mean?� Danny laughed, “I saw y’ havin’ a snooze at the back, missy�
“GRASS!� Sarah pushed him up the stairs to the canteen, laughing as he tripped into Tre.
“Yeah please,� Tre looked amused as he collided with them, “anythin’ to get through this dump,�
Cody looked at Amy, trying to figure out if she liked Tre {well, smiling’s a good sign} she thought to herself. “uh, Tre, this is Amy, Amy, this is Tre, the local idiot�
“Hey,� Amy smiled, looking up at Tre through her long eyelashes, blushing slightly.
“Hey,� Tre replied, “So, new here eh? Stick with me, I’ll show y’ a thing or two,� he grinned, putting an arm around her shoulder as he started to unzip his pants.
“TRE! Good God, not in school!� Cody laughed, “I’d like to say he ain’t usually like this, but it’d be a lie� she shrugged as she pushed him through the doors in front of her.
20 minutes later
The eight kids sat on the grass outside, gazing at the sky. Cody moved slightly so she was lying on Mike’s chest, looking across at were Tre & Amy were sat . “OhMyGod!� she hit Sarah, “Look, I knew it, I told y’ they’d get on� nodding to where the two were now lying in the grass having a snogathon.
“WOW! Get in there Tre!� Billie Joe called out as Tre swore at him but didn’t get up.
“Jeez, now I feel left out,� Jake laughed, looking at Billie Joe, “How bout it?� he laughed as his friend looked shocked & then winked.
“Sorry darlin’, you’re just too tall for me, whereas Danny…� he broke off, doubling over as he laughed at the look on the younger guys face, “Don’t worry, I’m joking, I’ve got Adie�
Mike grinned, “Is she defo movin’ here then?� he asked, playing with Cody’s hair as her breath tickled his neck.
“Yeah, she’s movin’ to the punk house with us,� Billie Joe replied, “Hope Ma won’t mind the extra washin�
“Cool, I like Adie, she rocks!� Cody put in as she reached behind her with her good arm, letting it rest on Mikes face, turning to kiss him, “Bet we can beat those two in a snogathon,� she smiled cheekily.
“You’re on,� he laughed as she rolled over to face him.
