Why Me?, chapter 3
We kissed for what seemed like ages. We pulled apart and I looked into Mikes eyes. I couldnt believe it, the guy I have liked for so long kissed me.
"Wow, your a good kisser" said Mike
"Your not so bad yourself" I said
"You dont know how good it feels for me to know that you like me.I have had a crush on you since the day we met." I said
"Well so have I." he said
All of a sudden the doorbell rang. Assuming it was Billie Joe, Mike let go of me and walked to the door. I followed him to the door, seeing as he was still holding my hand. Mike opened the door and was greeted by, Billie Joe.
"Whats up Mikey, Michelle." Said Billie." Holy shit who cut you?"
He was staring at the cut on my cheek.
"Its a long story Bill."said Mike
So we sat down in the living room and I told Billie what had happened. Billie looked shocked, but glad that I had moved out (well, kicked out). We passed the time until their band practice by watching t.v.
An hour later Tre arrived and the band practice started. The four of us went down into the basement and I sat down on a couch in the corner while the guys set everything up. They played hard for a few hours with me singing along most of the time. I knew they had talent and one day they would make it big. They were putting songs together for an album called Dookie. I had to say it was coming together really well.
"You know what?"said Billie when they were taking a break.
"I think we could use another guitar player to make the songs better."
"Thats actually a good idea, a lead guitar and a rythm guitar." Said Mike.
"Yeah, but who can play?" said Tre
"I know the perfect person." said mike with a grin on his face
"I know for a fact this person can play even faster than you Billie, and she is just as good." he said
"Wait a minute, did you say 'she', you dont know any girl guitar players besides....." I said as I let what he said sink in.
"Your right Mike Michelle is awesome, she would fit in perfectly."said Billie.
So after making sure that the guys really wanted me to join as rythm/backup guitar I picked up my Fender from its guitar stand and we started practicing.
Over the next few months we got mine and Billie's guitar parts sorted out.
I was lying down on the couch in my house. Yes my house. I had moved out of Mike's and gotten a job. School was almost over so I didnt really have to worry about it that much a few more months and we graduated. Billie had dropped out but me and Mike and Tre were still in school.
Anyways I was really tired since I had been fixing the place up. Mike was getting something to eat for us. We had been going out since the day I joined Green Day. Speaking of Green Day, it was like I expected. Green day was at the top of the charts. We were getting ready to go on tour after graduation.
The door opened and I sat up from my place on the couch. I saw Mike come in and I got up to greet him. I kissed him on the cheek and helped him carry the food into the kitchen. We ate and went into the living room to watch mtv. As I lay next to Mike on the couch I felt so happy. I had the best guy I could wish for, I was in the greatest band on earth and I had my own place.
"You alright? Your kinda quiet." asked Mike
"I am perfectly fine, I am just so happy." I said
Mike just looked at me kind of confused but then pulled me closer to him and wrapped his arms aroud me.
"I love you" he said quietly
"I love you to." I said turning to face him and kiss him.
A few hours later Mike got up to leave.
"Hey dont forget we are throwing a party here tomorrow with Billie, and Tre. Oh yeah and Billies girlfriend." Said Mike as he left.
"Dont worry i know, and dont worry I have plenty of drinks." I said as I waved goodbye.
I went to sleep and woke up around 7. I went to school met up with mike, Billie and Tre. We decided to ditch class. We walked down to the football field and sat on the bleachers. Billie was fumbling around with something in his pocket for a few minutes, then pulled out a lighter and some joints. We each took one, lit up and enjoyed our freedom.
"Ah just like old times, huh Mike?" I said
"Yup, this time we wont get caught though." He said
For some reason that memory of getting arrested was all of a sudden the funniest thing that ever happened to me. I started laughing and then Mike then Billie then Tre. We were all rolling around in fits of laughter for a long time. It was good to feel so carefree.
- After Graduation-
"Go, Go, Go, Go" Yelled Billie and Mike. Tre and I were racing to finish ten shots each, in a row. I finished first.
"Ha I won!!!!!" i yelled.
Tre looked dumbfounded, its the first time I had ever beaten him at shots.
Mike then took a few shots and sat down. I went over to him.
"Whats up?" I said
"Oh nothing, just glad we finished school."he said
"Yeah me to." i said
We partied all night drinking, talking listening to music, and just having a good time. A week later we recorded Dookie. We were all nervous because it was an album that might not go down well with the local punks. We were already starting to hear sellout from a few people.
-3 months after the release of Dookie_
YES!!!! We were going on tour expecting to see the biggest crowds, Dookie had made it big.Especially the song When I come Around. Mike was so happy and so were Billie and Tre. They have never been about making it big, just the joy of playing, but they were ecstatic that their music was liked by so many people.
"Excited Mikey?" I said to Mike. He was lying on my couch watching Mtv where once again a Green Day vid. came on.
"Hell yeah, I cant wait to start touring again." He said
He got up sat next to me and kissed me. We soon started making out just getting lost in our happiness. When we stopped we just lay down in each others arms, Happy that we had each other.Happy that we were in a band together with our best friend. But happiness doesnt last forever.
