Remember Me? (Sequel to Soda Pop and Ritalin), chapter 1

2 years later.

"Jackie!!! Jackie, help me I'm stuck!!!"
"What is it?" Jackie said in a rather annoyed tone of voice. Rockwell was her new roomie since she had left Billie Joe. She had a bright red, dreadlock bob and always put tons of eyeliner and mascara on to highlight her big round eyes. She almost always wore some sort of a tank top, which could show, off her tattoos. She had 7 in total. One of a rose on her upper arm, one off a daisy chain around her ankle one huge tattoo of a green dragon on her back, a Chinese one which means 'life' on the back of her neck, one of an eye on her hip, one of a heart in between her thumb and her index finger and one on her wrist that said NYPM which stood for New York Punk Maffia. She was very clumsy but at the same time extremely outgoing and a wonderful person to know.

She had left Rockwell for 5 minutes yet she always seems to get herself into some sort of trouble. Rockwell's feet were sticking up from behind the sofa as one hand was waving around in the air. "Jackie!!! Are you there?" Jackie laughed to herself then walked over to the sofa and started pulling up her friend.
"Yes I am here." Rockwell seemed to be seriously stuck behind the sofa so Jackie gave her friend a big tug, which she thought was a good idea at first but later on, didn't seem so good. Rockwell certainly came out from behind the sofa but not with quite as much grace as Jackie would have hoped for. She tumbled onto Jackie with a big thud as they both fell to the floor screaming with laughter.
"Ouch, shit Roxy, you're on my leg," Jackie half laughed half cried.
"Ooh, sorry!"

Rockwell got off of Jackie, brushed herself off then helped her friend up. "Thank you. Can I leave you now without you getting your finger stuck in socket or something?" She smiled at Jackie.
"Yes." Jackie smiled back then turned away to walk into the kitchen.
"Oh wait. Can you help me get out Spuds please? He's also stuck behind the sofa."
"I don't have time to get out your stupid ferret Rox, I need to do this or we'll be kicked out of this flat as quick as you can say Spuds," Jackie said whilst waving a bunch of bills about. "Plus he's not behind the sofa, I put him in his cage just over 10 minutes ago."
"Well, you couldn't have because I just saw him now."
"You wanna bet?" Jackie walked into the kitchen with Rockwell following her. The kitchen was messy with some sort of awful hole in the roof with wires and bits of wood chippings hanging out of it. The walls were a dark red with bits of wallpaper pealing off in some corners. The fridge and the cooker were just as bad as they were painted and almost all the paint was off showing the mucky white colour underneath.

"See, there he is." Jackie said pointing to a white cage in the corner of the room that quite obviously contained a ferret. Rockwell looked confused.
"But... I... Come with me," Rockwell grabbed hold of Jackie's sleeve and dragged her into the sitting room. "Look behind the sofa and you will see Spuds."
"OK, whatever." Jackie leaned over the side of the sofa and looked down at the hairy creature behind it. "That's not Spuds," she said whilst having a closer look at it. "That's not even a ferret! It's a rat Roxy!!! A fucking rat in our house!! Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!" Soon after Jackie had said this they were both jumping around screaming causing some of the neighbours to bang on the walls and such.

When they had calmed down Jackie said, "Rox, your gonna have to get rid of that."
"But i've already touched it, I'm not touching it again. Oh my God, I've got to go wash my hands."
"Well you're gonna have to wash them again if you wash them now. You're getting rid of it, end of discussion. It's not me who lies around and drops pizza slices everywhere. Look, take a bucket, put on a pair of rubber gloves and throw it out. It couldn't be more simpler."
"That's easy for you to say."
"Do it!"
"Fine, where are the rubber gloves?"
"Under the sink. I'll keep an eye on it.' Rockwell walked into the kitchen and got out the rubber gloves and the bucket and walked back into the sitting room. She frowned at Jackie then peeked behind the sofa. It didn't take her long before she was jumping up and down again. "Fuck that shit! I'm not doing it!" Jackie caught her by the arm then pushed her back towards the sofa.
"Wrong, you are doing it." Rockwell tried puppy eyes on her. It blatantly didn't work. "Do it!" Jackie said sternly.

Rockwell turned around and put her hand down the back of the sofa, pulled out a huge rat, threw it into the bucket then ran out of the flat and threw the whole shabang down the garbage shoot. Jackie laughed hysterically whilst Rockwell ran around screaming. "Urgh! Next time your getting rid of it," she said throwing the rubber gloves at Jackie. She dodged them just in time. They both fell down onto the sofa and giggled together.

After Jackie had walked out on Billie Joe she didn't have anywhere to go and didn't have much left of the money Mike gave her so she decided to get herself to New York, where she belonged. When she got there, there was yet again nowhere to go so she went to the nearest bar to drown her sorrows in. Whilst in there she met a woman named Rockwell who worked at the bar. Jackie told her about everything that had happened missing out the names of those responsible and replacing them with new ones to avoid centre attention. The woman offered her a home if Jackie promised to pay half the bills and cook every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Jackie went along with the deal and the rest as they say was history.

Since meeting Billie Joe she hadn't found anyone like him and every now and then she would wonder why she ever left him. It was too late now to worry about those sort of things. All she knew was that she had to get on with her life and stop thinking about them. Him. Why couldn't she erase him just as easily as he could? It wasn't fair. Sometimes she wondered what would happen if she just showed up again. She doubted that he would take it very well. "Oh shit, I've got to get going. Can you please try and find a new place somewhere cause I really hate this flat. I'm gonna go crazy if I live here a second more," Rockwell said whilst putting on her jacket.
"Yeah, sure I'll have a look."
"See ya," she said and walked out the door, shutting it behind her.

When she had left Jackie walked into the kitchen and put all the bills into piles of what had been paid and what hadn't. The 'hadn't' pile seemed to grow by the minute. Jackie threw down the last few bills and put her head in her hands then ran them through her now blonde hair. She sighed then picked up the magazine that was lying on the chair next her. "AMERICAN IDIOT TOUR REVIEW" it said in huge letters on the front. First she felt like throwing it at the wall but she controlled herself and thought back to all the times she had been to see them during their American Idiot tour. A tear ran down her cheek and hit her lips as she remembered the time when she was right at the front and Billie looked her in the eyes for what seemed like a lifetime for Jackie but to Billie she thought must have been nothing. Just another stranger longing to have him. She wiped the tear off her face and decided to get on with the bills again.
