Remember Me? (Sequel to Soda Pop and Ritalin), chapter 3

As he opened the door into his home the phone began to ring.
"I'm coming!!!" he shouted and slammed the door behind him as he ran towards the kitchen.
"Hello." He picked it up.
"Hey, its Mike!"
"Oh hi Mike. I was gonna call you just now cause I just got back." He said whilst taking off his coat and hat.
"Oh right, well I needed to know if you're free from tomorrow until... Thursday next week."
"Ummm. Hold on a second Mike." Billie rested the phone in his hand as he checked his calendar.
"Uhhh, yeh sure." He said into the phone. "What time will we be leaving?"
"At about 1:00 pm I'll meet you at the airport okay?"
"Yeh that'll be fine."
"Ok, see ya then."
"Yup, bye!"
"Bye."
Billie put the phone down on the kitchen table, yawned then walked in through the living room towards his bedroom.
**
She walked out of her bedroom whilst yawning. How long had she slept for? She rubbed her eyes and looked up at the clock that was hanging above the couch. 11.00am. She pulled herself towards the kitchen. Her rabbit slippers dragging on the floor as she approached Roxy.
"Morning sleepy-head." She said sipping on a cup of coffee and reading a magazine.
"Morning." Jackie replied as she opened the empty fridge and got out some cereal and the little milk that was left.
"Rox. Your not supposed to put cereal in the fridge you know." She opened the cupboard above her head, got out a bowl then opened the drawer and got out a spoon. She poured the cereal and then the milk into the bowl and sat down at the table.
Jackie took a bite of her cereal, looked at the clock then at Roxy.
"Aren't you supposed to be at work?" she said suspiciously.
Roxy took a sip of her coffee. " I quit." She replied without any emotion or expression.
"Oh right... " Jackie took another mouthful of cereal but realising what Roxy had just said she almost choked on it.
"What?!" She screamed. "You're kidding me!"
"Nope."
"Roxy look around you. We're not in the state to just 'quit' our jobs."
"That's easy for you to say. You don't even have a job."
"Well... " Jackie struggled to find a comeback. "First thing tomorrow I will go and get myself a job."
"Okay." She took another sip of her coffee as Jackie grabbed a magazine and started to look for any jobs she could easily get.
**
"Are you okay?" Hayli asked Billie as he downed a glass of whiskey then started breathing in a paper bag.
"Tre looked around his girlfriend and at Billie. "He'll be fine." He replied for him. "He's just afraid of flying that's all."
Billie glared at Tre then got back to breathing steadily into the paper bag. His feet nervously tapped on the floor as the plane started to take off. He grabbed the seat armrest and closed his eyes tightly.
"Up, up and away!" Tre shouted at the top of his voice. Heads turned and stared at him for a while. An air hostess trotted over to him.
"Sir, if it wouldn't be a problem we would like you to keep your voice down. The other passengers seem uncomfortable with that amount of noise and some are trying to sleep."
"What would you say if I said it was a problem." He asked cheekily.
Hayli looked at Tre surprised.
"Tre!"
"What?!"
"I'm sorry. I'll take care of this." Hayli said as she gestured for her to go away.
"Tre, you naughty boy."
Tre wiggled his eyebrows at her.
"Meet me in the toilets." She said as she started to move out of her seat and towards the toilet.
"Man she is so hot." Tre said eyeing up her body as she walked down the aisle. "Be right back." He said to Billie still not taking his eyes off Hayli.
Billie raised one eyebrow at Tre then got back to breathing in the paper bag again. He could tell that this was going to be a long flight.
**
When they had arrived at the hotel Mike, Tre, Hayli and Vanessa decided to go out for a drink.
"You coming man?" Mike asked Billie as he started to open the door.
"Nah. Not tonight. I'm a bit tired after the flight so I might just stay here."
"Okay. Suit yourself!" Mike slammed the door behind him and ran after Tre, Hayli and Vanessa who were already in the lift.
Billie let out a sigh of relief then turned the TV on.
**
He had been sat there for 1 hour and was starting to get a little bit bored. He switched off the TV then grabbed his coat and hat and locked the door behind him as he walked out of his room. He looked down at the floor, only to see immaculate carpet. He sighed. Why did everything have to be so god damn perfect?
**
He finally stepped out of the 5 star hotel and into the cold New York night. He shivered as he put his hands in his pockets and started to walk down the street, taking in the smells of the cars' exhaust fumes, the noises of people talking in their flats and the cold making his nose and cheeks go a rosy red.
**
"Shit!" Jackie shouted as she looked at the clock. She was late for her interview. Jackie grabbed her long coat that lay on the chair in the kitchen, put on her purple knitted hat and wrapped on a long thick scarf. As she ran out of the flat she slammed the door behind her then ran down the red staircase. It seemed like forever until she was out in the cold night. She wrapped the scarf tighter around her neck and started to run down the street.
"Scarlet Bar?" she mumbled to herself. "Where the hell is that?" she stopped and looked around for anyone near. There was no one around. Apart from some guy in a long coat across the street. It was quite an isolated area of New York so she ran over the street and walked towards the man. She looked down at the piece of paper as she approached him.
"Excuse me. Could you tell me where Sca... " She broke of in mid-sentence as she looked in his deep green eyes.
"Oh my god!" she turned to walk away as she realised who it was.
"Do I... Do I know you?" Billie Joe stuttered.
He grabbed her by the arm and turned her round to face him. He studied her for a second then his eyes widened in shock.
"You're the girl in my dreams!" he said still shocked out of his mind. Jackie grabbed his arm and pulled his now tight grip off of her own. A tear started to make tracks on her soft skin. She looked at him one more time in the eyes then whispered, "Sorry."
She turned away and ran as fast as she can away from him.
"Wait!" he shouted after her. "Who are you?!" he shouted again even louder. She didn't reply so he ran after her but soon lost her in the maze of shops and flats.
**
She panted heavily as she closed the door behind her with her back. She slowly sat down on the floor leaning her head against the door. She banged her head fiercely against it as she cried warm tears, making her mascara bleed and make their way down her cheeks and hitting her soft lips.
When she had calmed down she made her way towards the kitchen and picked up the phone. Dialling Tre's mobile number she stomped around in the room her regret and guilt now turning into anger.
"Hello?" came a laughing voice on the other end.
"Tre I need to speak to you." Jackie said sternly.
He went quite.
"Holy shit! Is this Jackie?"
"Yes it is. Are you in New York?"
"Uh yeh. How do you know?"
"I bumped into Billie."
"Shit."
"Are you anywhere near Central Park?"
"Uh. Yeh. We are actually... "
"Good, meet me outside the 7/11."
"Yeh okay. I still can't believe it's you though Jackie."
She smiled. "I can't believe its you either Tre."
There was silence for a bit.
"Bye then."
"Bye bye." Jackie said as she hung up the phone. She held onto it for a bit then put it down on the table and stepped out of the flat and made her way to Central Park.
