We'll be okay, we have each other., chapter 1

"Billie Joe come on we gotta go," Billie Joe sighed as he obediently switched his music off. The eleven year old boy was going out too his late fathers wake. "Billy Joe what happened to your suit?!" his mother said sounding annoyed and drained. Billie Joe looked down to see a small hole just below his knee where he had fallen over. "I'm sorry mom, I fell, didn't mean to do it, so sorry... It's only a little hole nobody will notice I promise," His mother looked down at him with a week smile. "I'm sure they won't son," tears came down her cheeks as she kneeled down. "Your mine and I love you, don't ever forget that honey."
After checking that the family was ready Billie Joe's mom locked the door and made her way to the car.

Finally at the wake the speakers announced it was Billie Joe Armstrong's turn to say a few words about his father. Nervously, he climbed on stage and began, "My, my dad was a really cool guy, and, and I want him here now. I miss him so much, why did he have to have cancer he didn't do anything wrong. He gave me my guitar "blue" and he always played catch. Why him?" His voice trailed off as silent tears soon turned into near hyserics. "I'm so-sorry mom" Billie Joe's hand was taken by his uncle and lead off stage. When in the bathroom Billie Joe had calmed down just enough to hold a conversation as he turned to his uncle he hugged him and spoke into his shoulder, "I miss him, I want him here. Why did he have to die? I want my dad."

With that his uncle cupped his damp face and soothed, "He loved you kids and so do I, I know it's not the same but I will always be here for you, you can tell me anything okay?"
As Billie Joe looked into his uncle's eyes he knew he was genuine "Okay... I love you too... I promised myself I wouldn't cry. I need to be here for my mom."
"Hey kiddo," said his uncle in a calming voice, "you are strong and your mom is proud of you and don't forget it." Billie Joe smiled as his uncle playfully punched him around the chin.

As Billie left the bathroom he was greeted by his Mother, she took his hand and lead him to the dance floor. She picked him up and danced with him to a slow song... His father's favorite. As they hugged, they cried together. All through the song nothing was said...They just clung onto each other knowing the feeling... There was no need for words.

Days passed.
The days turned into months.
Soon a year had gone by, and Billie Joe's mom was still was finding it hard to cope. One morning Billie Joe took some coffee to his mom's bedroom. He wasn't scared because right then he didn't know there was anything to be frightened about. He gently kicked the door open, and seeing his mother he dropped the mug he was holding and ran to his mom. "MOM! MOM! WAKE UP!" Next to her cheek was a small puddle of sick...Clasped in her fist was a bottle of pills. Billie Joe ran to the phone and dialed 911. As he worked his way back upstairs he repeated in his head "please, please be okay mom, I love you so much, I don't know what I'll do without you," over and over until the words didn't make sense anymore.
